I work as a volunteer with the council. We are trying to clean up some of the stations along this line when we have time. We are due to clean up Cwm Ffwdoer halt tomorrow, Sept 2020. Most of the stations were totally overgrown, we didn't realise that many stations were there, we were spraying knotweed only to find the platform to this halt about three years ago, did a quick clean up, hope to take a lot of the overhead branches down and strim the platform. Nice to see some of the heritage along the line.
@@MarkHybridZ The old station we have done most work on is in fact Varteg station at 5:40 in your video. We now plant wild flower seed every year and try to keep the old platform area somewhat clear. We have done some clearance on some of the other old stations and halts, the platform edges have all been taken away and most building flattened. This stretch from Pontypool to Blaenavon is owned by TCBC I believe and is part of a 'multi use leisure route' and is classified as a nature reserve in some parts. We are always clearing fallen trees and felling trees that are deemed to be dangerous along the route, along with brambles and Japanese knotweed, it is of course a 'never ending task' but enjoyable.
I was immersed. Brilliant video, and the music (that I normally detest) made it even better. Thank goodness for modern tech that allows me to continue experiencing the visuals at least. Ta muchly for this, and keep on!🙃🙃
Brilliant film, cheers mate! I remember playing on those tracks in the 60s. I'm delighted they've turned most of it into bike path ( I honestly didn't that until I'd seen this film ). Better get me bike!
