I've been wondering about this for the longest time. I often just measure my body/head and go with a fit. The issue with this is that given the site/vendor/seller their fit is varied because sizing can be off by even a few cm's and screws up the sizing as a whole. Gotta say that integrated sun glasses should be way up on the list for city driving. It's a safety feature. It helps me SEE. Drive around a corner and the sun is now shining directly into my eyes? Sun glasses down. Drive into a tunnel? Sunglasses up. Seeing where I am going is the number 1 safety feature. I just tried on a few helmets yesterday and ended up buying an LS2 Stream that cost $170. I'm going to take it to the basic course this weekend and see if they say it fits me and if I made a decent choice. I left all of the tags and stickers on it, so I can exchange it for something else, if necessary. I wore it around the store, and it felt okay to me. I'm just excited to finally try a real motorcycle. I sat on a few at the store yesterday and they felt really comfortable. Hopefully I can find a good, used beginner bike.
I had a full upper vest and a textile (with the armor removed) that I wore together. It was a bit warm and inconvenient to take on and off, but it had every part of my upper torso covered in armor and it the fit was phenomenal
Hot weather rider here. Australia. Make as much of your gear lighter colours if you can. In winter I can cover my protective jacket with wet weather gear. In summer I am at the mercy of the elements, days often hitting 100 Degrees FH. You can climate control your ride in winter by adding layers. In summer it is just warm bottles of water in your backpack that you need to drink from every two hours or die of dehydration.
I live in Arizona(US), gets to about 120 °F each summer(kind of glad it's a dry heat). While I haven't been able ride just yet, my last car didn't have AC. Normally I don't drink enough water, well that car taught me a lesson. I had to pull off the freeway because everything went bright. Partially low blood sugar and mostly dehydration. After that I bring water with me everywhere I go, even with my new to me car that has AC. I couldn't imagine riding without having water near, especially during summer.
one of the things i noticed is if you get an abnormal looking helmet people will look at you. For e.g. i have a icon flight helmet and its unique windscreen attracts a lot of eyes.
I just signed up for the basic motorcycle class this weekend and it only cost $50. He said it costs a couple hundred bucks in the beginning of the video.
It's worth it to invest in riding pants with armor. During a riding lesson at less than 15mph I wiped out and smacked my knees into the street. I bought a pair right after that.

2:04 that's not true. There are plenty of waterproof leather solutions out there and the leather itself might bet soaked on non waterproof leather gear but it won't let the water through easily. It has to be pretty heavy rain to the point where even waterproof textile gear will start to soak up at places like the bottom of the jacket, sleeves and neck. 2:26 that is very true though, every time i get caught in hard rain my perforated leather gloves leave my hands a shade of purple

The best equipment consist of wearing fully armored racing leathers, complete with an air bag system, high armored motorcycle boots, armored gloves, and a SNELL certified FULL FACE helmet that’s never been in an accident and is still less than 5 years old. The only thing I disagree on is the combat part when talking about boots when you know what combat boots to look for they can be just as protective as motorcycle boots is recommend looking for special operations boots like special air service boots there specially designed to allow the wearer to use motorcycles and all kinds of special operation scenario
No, no they don't. Just get some proper riding boots been riding dirt bikes a long time slamming my feet off the ground often and tweaking my ankle. Tried a lotttt of different boots trust me on this. Don't be a weeb trying to get special forces boots just get a proper riding boot.
Damn the most problem with gear is hell of the warm sunny days. Wearing even super light “air” equip, with literally the net all around, you still be sweeting as hell. So you can’t then go to the office after ride or go to the restaurant. You options begin to be very limited :( that sad. We need something like astronouts has, thermal underwear with little tubes of cold water all around the body to cool down. The full-leather all seasons will work.
I almost never ride without at least a jacket, and the one day last summer that I wore only a t-shirt (on a 95+ degree day), I got drilled right in the sternum by a pebble at about 75mph. Not fun.
If you want to be seen easier without going full nerdmode with construction orange or highlighter yellow about anything that isn't black, so dark it may as well be black, camo colors like green or brown you can be seen without looking like a dork. Chopin in the background , you’ve earned a sub my friend
$2,500+ in gear. $800 Shoei. $1,200 two piece track suit $400 boots $300 gloves.
Have you ever had Long hair and rode down the street with no helmet on. It feels fucking amazing. I wouldn’t go over 15-20mph but it felt so cool.
Yami says to wear something above the ankle
Me: puts on Jordan 1
Same lol
😂😂😂😂
Papa Yam can you make a 7 pieces of gear you need for winter riding? So I don't freeze my baby yams in January
Deffinitely stepped up your stock footage game on this one👌
Love the Chopin playing in the background
Me vibe’in with Yammi ☺️
Me after I just bought completely black gear and yammi suggests I get high vis 😳
International giveaways would be awesome yammie :)
Tomás Estiveira pretty hard to do though cuz of all the fees
@@itztobz i knowww :(
Ahh I’m actually here early!! ❤️ papa yam......anyone else able to fall asleep to his smooth as cream cheese on a bagel voice?
No, has a too high pitch for my taste
Ok I wasn’t anticipating men agreeing with this lol
one of the things i noticed is if you get an abnormal looking helmet people will look at you. For e.g. i have a icon flight helmet and its unique windscreen attracts a lot of eyes.
Squid is love, squid is life
I just signed up for the basic motorcycle class this weekend and it only cost $50. He said it costs a couple hundred bucks in the beginning of the video.
It's worth it to invest in riding pants with armor. During a riding lesson at less than 15mph I wiped out and smacked my knees into the street. I bought a pair right after that.
Yamz 100% forgot to mention the safety of loud pipes that save lives😂😂😂
Yes, very good Nocturne... I love your background music taste(s).
So far I got gloves, still need helmet/jacket/pants/boots... Thank you for the informative videos I might be addicted :D
Hi-vis or no vis. I like hi-vis, I even try to color match my bike to my hi-vis gear. The yellow on black makes it look like a hornet!
2:26 that is very true though, every time i get caught in hard rain my perforated leather gloves leave my hands a shade of purple
getting my first bike in next year march, cant wait😍
I feel all riders should wear an athletic supporter and a specially made cup, constructed of crumple resistant alloys.
Saw a dude with an Elmo helm. He got the last tip covered.
I got a modeka tourex jacket, modeka gloves, a balaclava all for around 150 euros. My helmet is a nolan N40-5 special modular helmet I got for around 220. Boots and patns are left.
The best equipment consist of wearing fully armored racing leathers, complete with an air bag system, high armored motorcycle boots, armored gloves, and a SNELL certified FULL FACE helmet that’s never been in an accident and is still less than 5 years old. If you can afford all that, you should be wearing it.
After getting all the gears, here are the Beginner Motorcycle that fit's beginner
BMW S1000RR
kasaski h2
Ducati V4R
Honda CBR1000RRR fireblade
Suzuki Turbobusa
Yamah R1M
😂
The only thing I disagree on is the combat part when talking about boots when you know what combat boots to look for they can be just as protective as motorcycle boots is recommend looking for special operations boots like special air service boots there specially designed to allow the wearer to use motorcycles and all kinds of special operation scenario
Thanks weeb
No, no they don't. Just get some proper riding boots been riding dirt bikes a long time slamming my feet off the ground often and tweaking my ankle. Tried a lotttt of different boots trust me on this. Don't be a weeb trying to get special forces boots just get a proper riding boot.
Dude i started watching you a few months back and i decided to get myself a motorcycle All The Way From Ph Bro
Love your background music! Great channel!
This was the good Yammie his personality has changed
Thank you so much for this! I have been looking for good beginner gear lately and have had a tough time finding something solid.
Use the force Josh...and wear all the gear, all the time.
I was looking for this , thx for the info abd laughs
They had a busa at a local bike shop. My mind first went to your merch😂😂
I almost never ride without at least a jacket, and the one day last summer that I wore only a t-shirt (on a 95+ degree day), I got drilled right in the sternum by a pebble at about 75mph. Not fun.
Jackie Shiloh your the first fur rider I’ve seen how do you feel about guys that see you riding they instantly want to get with you right
@@shsjsjsjsjsi6479 Of course. That's why she commented.
If you want to be seen easier without going full nerdmode with construction orange or highlighter yellow about anything that isn't black, so dark it may as well be black, camo colors like green or brown you can be seen without looking like a dork.
Red, blue, purple, yellows other than safety highlighter yellow, white, silver, gold, orange that isn't construction safety orange like Harley orange, etc can all be seen
Wanna ride a bike but I know I will be too lazy to put all these on so no thank you...I will keep watching your videos though they are amazing
Comfort is the most important factor to me. The legitimate excuse for not wearing a helmet, or other protective gear is HEAT. Yammie you live in Texas, it gets just as hot there as it does here in Arizona. Oh yeah I still love your channel.
@J G To each his own. We are all free to choose at least in some states.
Can't wait to win that sweet ninja 400 so I can sell it and buy an r3 😍
Kawasaki wants to know your location...
I run Bates combat boots and they work awesome but if your going to use combat make sure they are high end
Ive got a very expensive steel toed pair pair of Belleville combat boots, they are military grade. I use them for my Air Force Uniform. Would those work?
@@killswitch5738 if it has good heal support then yes it’s got full grain leather so abrasion resistance isn’t a concern they’re tall enough to protect the lower calf well so it’s just a matter of heel support
@@lucaswebster8811 yes thank you, and it does have great heel support, it's meant for long hikes and marching and PT, I have hiked/marched/ran many miles in them and my feet barely ever are sore
@@killswitch5738 they should be perfect then!
Always entertaining thanks
I ride with a good leather riding jacket,THICK blue jeans,hi top vans, and a nice helmet
Jeans have been proven to be ineffective no matter what type they rip open, they have the be motorcycle jeans with kevlar or textile. I'm working on getting a pair about $130-150 on revzilla
@@tylerssoul ive been working on getting those too
I'm one of those squids who usually only wear a helmet. When it's in the 80s and 90s during summer, I cannot fathom wearing all that gear. It would be sweltering in stop and go traffic. I usually only wear jackets and gloves and boots when it starts getting cool/cold outside or if I'm planning to take a long journey via interstate highways. I'm that guy wearing an expensive Arai helmet with Tshirt, shorts, and sneakers. If I go down in a crash, I'll have only myself to blame.
I was that guy, fuckin regret is the only thing to come man..
Bought my first bike last July (I blame Yammie).
Can barely stand on the damn thing (CB125R, should've gone with a scooter lol), but went completely overboard on gear - only thing I didn't buy was an airbag! ahahaha
Any brand you recommend I see you posted this a year ago. Have you gotten to 'test' any of the safety gear?
1:52 thanks for the legs papa yam
@4:41 (Triumph in the process of sending Yammie to bankruptcy)
LOL j/k good vid, Yammz
Why does the classic retro gear lead to twisted road and not the gear somebody help
I've got the same issue. just look it up on revzilla.
Just bought an 09 Ninja 650r with 10k miles for $3k, cant wait to start riding!
What year is it?
@@daniels2623 I said 09
I love the Chopin in these videos.
Never get tired of the b roll
I got a rectangular head. HJC fits me good and I know HJC is a great brand
I wanna see the dude at 0:18 put on his helmet with these gloves ... LOL
I never thought I'd ever wear a balaclava...till I got hit in the neck with a wasp. Now its every time lol
And let the record show" Scorpion EXO R420 is snell rated and shaped like an X-14 for $150-200
I never thought I'd wear socks til I got a Lego wedged between the sole of my foot and my flip flop.
Now it's every time.
Lana Gray 😂
Them giant black bees hurt too 💀
6:20 lmao 🤣🤣
Getting a free 1200cc Harley because my gfs dad is going to prison. Wish me luck on this beast, as it's my first bike. I guess I'm going squid mode lmao. I'll reply in a month if I'm still alive.
Bro it's been 2 years, you still alive?
Bro it's been 2 years, you still alive?
@5:22 is the best Yammie!
I am in Kenya (a son of our land was your president, we should be considered part of US where there are freebies) and seeing as I cannot participate in the sweepstake, how about gifting me with some riding gear, or a below 7 years old bike. Even a 400cc and below would make my heart jump out it's cage..........
I am looking forward to joining the 2 wheelers sometime this year.
OOh, good job man, I have learnt a lot this last few days I have started researching on bikes, gear and everything in between.
Love this
I’m a 13 y/o girl and my dream is to get a honda grom as a first. And when i get my A2 license (it’s the dutch license for the big motors, A1 has a limit to the amount of max speed and weight) i wanna get maybe a kawasaki ninja or a yahama something R3
I'm almost 15 years old. Im going to get a kawasaki next year but im already driving a scooter. What is the legal age to drive a motorcycle in Germany?
@@horatio1547 16, up to 125cc
Bell qualifier helmet saved my ass, also the street gloves from japanese brand Komine also kept my hands intact, jeeze I didn't wear boots only sneakers, had a hole on my left foot
1:59 to actually start the vid
You the man Yamm!
Which jacket is that in the video thumbnail? Black with white stripes. Looks great.
The 3 B’s - BIG - BULKY - BOOTS. 😎
once you get the bike of your dreams . it will take another 5 years to pay for the gear of your dreams .
Just found this channel. Great content dude
If a helmet passes an ECE 22.05 what does it matter if it cost £30 or £300? All your paying for is comfort or branding
I was very dumb riding in Thailand in flip flops, shorts, and a wife beater. Crashed and f*cked myself up. My hand and face. Bunch of stitches on the bridge of my nose and by my right eye (which I almost lost) can see the scar go onto my eyelid. So I learned since then.
i always watch your vid.. thanks for the guide..
What jacket was it that you were wearing in this video ? Looks very nice and comfy for a summer jacket
Question…
Where would I leave my jacket/gear if,say, going out to lunch with friends or riding to school? Could I just leave it on my bike? Would it get stolen there?
