  • The former home of the San Diego Chargers and San Diego Padres, San Diego says goodbye with some of the most amazing original footage of the deconstruction of the San Diego stadium. Filmed over several weeks, the video shows never-before-seen aerial drone footage of the historic and iconic stadium.
The San Diego Stadium opened in 1967 and was named Jack Murphy Stadium from 1981 to 1997. From 1997 to 2017 the stadium was named Qualcomm Stadium. Then in September of 2017, the stadium was named SDCCU Stadium.
The stadium hosted three Super Bowls, two Major League Baseball All-Star Games, two national League Division Series, and two World Series. It was the only stadium ever to host the Super Bowl and World Series in the same year (1998).
Demolition of the stadium began in November of 2020.
But more than just historic events, the stadium is home to countless memories of the thousands of people who attended all the sports, concerts, and events held at the stadium.
As a longtime Charger Fan, we will always remember the tailgate BBQs and fun at the Charger Games and how we came together as a city at the many sporting events.
We hope you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed making it. Please share and enjoy.
    Let’s all remember….
The echoes may have ceased but our memories at the stadium will last forever!
