Definitely a super fun deck to get into the game however I will warn you the gameplay of this deck wants you to be taking razor edge margins with your life that may be hard for a new player to discern between giving your opponent and opening and staying within a safe calculated risk. Ace might be a better starting place with the similar toolset as it doesn't encourage you to dance between 1 and 0 life. And then moving over to this once you have a better grasp of the game :)
@@JoyBoysTCG thank you for your advice, i'll check on Ace deck too. I only chose luffy cuz of the lack of cards. Too expensive to get some good ones. Managed to get some sabos and some geckos at least to be ready :)
Yup! We'll be doing 1 for each of the leaders! Running a little behind due to work commitments but hope to have Ace out Monday and Sabo out Wednesday/Friday of next week.
Thank you for making a video about this deck. I just found it in the store the other day and I’m looking at these cards and I’m like these leaders only give me four life? What’s the deal? 😂
There are lots of people on the internet who do in depth gameplay videos. We try to focus on making more digestible videos that are a great starting place and baseline. Also because we want to cover as much content as possible and to give you a good gameplay strategy video (what you're asking for) we'd have to master each and every deck we make a video for AND THEN make the video, which is a lot more hours than we have available atm
By time i have the don for Moria I always have a full board or one open spot for Moria but never room to summon stuff from the trash usually have 1 maybe 2 weak characters out like garp/hyori/makino then 3 big brothers
Yeah I mean if you're at that point you're already cooking and just disregard the moria for fodder to leader to maintain counter in hand. The one thing you have to note is sometimes you want to play over a brother with moria. Example, you have Sabo Luffy Ace and two dorks on board. It would not be I correct to swing out, play moria over the dork, bring out two smalls replacing two brothers (let's say Sabo Luffy for small Sabo or Luffy, or small Sabo and the small for whoever is in your life if you have life still faceup). You the. Attach two to leader and pitch to move the Sabo and other card you attacked with and replaced from trash I to life. Then you can use the smalls to setup a fresh Sabo blocker with ko protection putting your leader to 7k or double up and put to 9k. Lots of ways he still plays well even into packed boards.
@@JoyBoysTCG tysm I did not know i could replace my characters on the field when its full i thought they were just dead space unless I somehow convince my opponent to kill them lol definitely will help
@@ZombaeGirl Oh of course! the important thing to remember is that playing over (the general term for this action) does not cause cards that go to trash to get KO/trash triggers unless they print cards in the future that trigger when they universally leave field
Just started OPTCG and the guy at my LGS recommended I start with this deck. I’m getting bodied by my buddies playing original starter decks 4 and 6. Not a fun learning curve on this deck.
@@brandontalsma5640 this game more than others generally rewards you for your game knowledge of opp's decks more than your own, so grinding losses is a huge part. but the mechanics and knowing the really thin lines of a BY luffy deck is really hard to to throw someone new into imo. I would start would recommend Green Uta as a strong starting deck with pretty accessible starting playlines. Helps you learn the game and other decks and the skills transfer into OP07 Bonney which is a great deck as well!
@@JoyBoysTCG I really appreciate the response and you sharing your knowledge. I’ll look into Green UTA and maybe put BY Luffy to the side for a little bit until I understand the game better. Thank you again. I look forward to more of your content.
Thnks for the vid, wanted to ask for advice short one black sabo and moria and what 2 off could i fill the deck with currently trying sr shirahoshi from the recent set.
Oooo my advice is try to pick something that either extends your combos or gives you more card selection. So like the three brother's bond is an excellent choice. low cost to use and lets you find the piece you dont have the 4th copy of. Great eruption is good for a similar reason while giving your sabo a bit of reach.
There's a few ways to do it with other cards outside of leader, but mainly it was shown faceup to demonstrate prior knowledge (from hiyori, makino, leader ability, etc) that a Sabo was there. The other facedown card just was like that to present any other random card. Tldr good observation answer is was keeping editing easy and clean to multiple scenarios
If you want to get everything from the product, 2. Makes it clean. If not you'll need to buy 2 copies of all the SR big boys and garps since theyre only 2 ofs and required
Feel like there isnt much I can say on op07 yet since we're really drililng into EB format for LA regionals. Yamato is a little rough, you basically need to prioritize wheeling sabos and then leverage ace being rush and 7k body which is hard to remove. Not any crazy advice ik but i think its simple as that really. Also valueing your 2ks and being ready for the hody to come down and try to clear board or push lethal on 7/8 don turn
the 9k was reference to the base power boost (hence "til the start of your next turn") but yes on the current turn it would swing 11, but was focusing on the overall base power adjustment given for a full turn cycle
Yes! Bandai words OPTCG very weirdly, the may is just telling you that you "may do this to do the effect" since for example ON PLAY abilities are mandatory activations which you may not ignore. Example OP01 nami, even if you knew there were no strawhats to find, you'd have to check top 5 and put them on bottom.
To win a game of OPTCG you must meet the following conditions: 1) Successfully hit your opponent's leader for damage when they are AT 0 life (not reducing them to 0 life) 2) Your opponent's deck hits 0 cards (and they are not playing nami leader) 3) eat their cards :3
Looks like a VERY fun deck but also high risk high reward, if you fuck up one turn on life 0 you can easily lose
its definitely a balancing act for sure! But rewards you going balls to the wall.
Very nice video man! Realy wanna get into OPTCG and this will be my first deck! Ty for the info.

do you have to trash a card for the leader Eff? Since it says "may trash"?

Example OP01 nami, even if you knew there were no strawhats to find, you'd have to check top 5 and put them on bottom.
@JoyBoysTCG that's weird, since other effects say "trash 1 card:"
There with the "may"
So I considered it as "I can do trash as bonus if I need to"
@@YamiNZ anything in bolded text is an activation cost that must be paid and resolve properly or else you will not get the effect.
