He actually was. At first, he tried to say he was pro-vaccine and just anti-MMR because he just so happened to patent three separate vaccines for the MMR. Then that grift didn't get traction because the only people who bought it were anti-vaccine in general, so he fell into that to make money after his license was revoked.

As a trans person in the UK, something feels off right now here. We've had transphobia before but the division is intense. The NHS is generally supported by the left for obvious reasons, but now there's a rift forming. It's sad to see when an organisation you would die for will do things like suggesting you ought to be sectioned and that you're mentally unwell purely because you ask for basic communications like your position on their waiting lists and asking for support before you reach their up to 6 year wanting lists. It baffles me that they're saying "we need to rule out every other possibility before we say they're trans" as if doctors don't do that already. Like for an ADHD diagnosis they try to rule out whether its autism since there IS a link between the two (not only do a lot of the symptoms overlap but ASD and ADHD come as a package deal fairly often).
Even if it turned out that being trans is caused by ASD, where's the issue? If social/medical transitioning helps them manage their ASD, improves their quality of life and mental wellbeing, then that's what we would do. It just comes off as them trying to delegitimise the existence of trans people while being ableist towards autistic people.

It shouldn't be surprising that people who don't understand gender, don't understand neurodivergence either. It's not only transphobic, but ableist too. Again, not a urprise because phobias and isms are all found clustered in the same groups of people.

    • @a_kazakis
      @a_kazakis 5 месяцев назад +4

I'm not a phycologist, but if I had to guess, the thought process would be like this. You have to screen the person that wants to transition for phycological conditions that might heavily impact their decision making. If they are cleared, then you can proceed with their request for transitioning. If they are diagnosed with something like autism, then it is very possible that the correct action is not to help them transition, but to help them deal with the underlying condition.
The entire thought process here depends on the assumption that the desire to transition can be triggered by another underlying condition. IF that is proven, then it is reasonable to assume that treating the underlying condition will cancel the desire to transition. AGAIN, I am not a professional in this field and this is not even my opinion, it is pure speculation. I personally don't have an opinion one way or another, because quite frankly I have never looked into or had any interest on the issue.

Autism doesn't cause dysphoria, but anyone who thinks autism isn't connected to dysphoria hasn't been to a furry convention, nor been to a Satanist meeting. The number of people who are both autistic and trans/therian is very high in these venues. Dysphoria and autism are absolutely linked.

They're definitely linked but it's not like treating one alleviates the other. You can't cure someone being autistic any more than you can cure someone being trans. The whole reason this report and other transphobes try and conflate the two is to try and invalidate trans identity as a byproduct of autistic people being stupid in their eyes. A friend roped me into a frustrating and pointless conversation about the topic and seemed really pleased and proud that we both agreed on what I pissily explained *already* represented the standard of care for trans youth.

You gotta be really careful with how things like this are phrased. For example holistic screening in the general national health service could well mean that you now have generalist doctors and psychiatrists screening you for stuff like autism or ADHD and flat out never letting you get gender care if they think its actually just you being autistic or whatever else.
Something like that is even pretty likely because the UK sure doesn't look like they actually care about making trans care more accessible at the moment.

Depression is treated through therapy, psychology, and psychiatry.
As I said previously, some autistic people do suffer from both gender dysphoria and depression, but that doesn't mean the three are interrelated. Because, many people have gender dysphoria, but they are not autistic nor suffer from depression with a caveat of also not necessarily being trans. There are cis or nb who have gender dyphoria, but they will tell you and defend that they aren't trans. It's really a gross failing of the study, it doesn't analyze those phenomenons. If it even faintly touches them, it's so much poor data and misleading information use, it's basically bad data.

I am sorry but I have a daughter with autism spectrum disorder. She got caught in the trans craze. I was earlier very sympathetic believing that trans people were somehow a special category of people where a person discovers that they are somehow in a wrong body. But after seeing what she went through and after spending a lot of time talking to her I have realized that people with autism are especially vulnerable for both experiencing quite a lot of discomfort with puberty and being more easily influenced by certain types of erroneous beliefs. I did my best to not affirm nor affirm the trans identity. I just listened and supported and shared information about what hormones do in a healthy body, what the role of puberty is, how it feels like to go through puberty… I normalized the discomfort a lot of people feel.
After some time of being absolutely adamant on going to transition she simply with knowledge and time/ maturity developed into a different sort of identity
Both of us now see how terribly poor health care system is and how she could have been irreversibly harmed had she have gone through medical transition. We both view this now as really a transition to nowhere. It is not possible to change ones biological sex.
I am glad Cass report was done. Healthcare professionals need to have facts to work with and a lot of these young people need a whole lot more proper mental help treatments and much, much better protection against surgical and hormonal interventions.

After being screened by primary care, then by mental health services, patients must be screened by non physicians at gender services, before being allowed on a 2- year waiting list to get an informed gender care specialist to see them the first time. Then they are screened again. Only then will they receive gender-affirming care. That is now. All they want to do is add tighten up this by adding additional post waiting list screening criteria, such that if you have any other cognitive or psychological conditions besides gender dysphoria (a necessary criteria to have) you can’t get gender care services. Where does the idea that gender dysphoria proper being a requirement come from anyway? They pulled out if their ass. How about the idea that high functioning autistic people or people with other managed psychological conditions like depression anxiety ptsd, etc., should be barred from getting gender affirming care that they otherwise would qualify for? Likely from the same place. I do think the desire to transition medically (as opposed to puberty blockers) should be a long-considered firmly and consistently-held conclusion and the younger the patient , and the more complex the patient’s overall health, the longer that process and the higher the bar should be. But we do not need erect sweeping arbitrary unsupported hurdles.

They KNOW the rates of abuse etc for trans people are high (because, weirdly, we act funny like we're a different gender and people pick up on that sh1t), that's why they're doing this. jeFc, so f'd up. Unfortunately - the only way this quote makes any sense is if and only if you take all the existing studies which DO exist on the matter and show improvement in psychological measurments and ignore all of them (As the Cass report did), under the premise that they don't hold up to some arbitrary and clinically impossible standard (As the Cass report did), and then turn around and look at the very few studies that imply otherwise and suddenly foreget to apply the same standard (As the Cass report did).
This malpractice alone should ring alarm bells.
The fact that this intellectually dishonest tactic was used and STILL the only claims she could make with a straight face were "The effect on cognitive and psychosexual development remains unknown", and " we have inadequate information about the range of outcomes for this group" is only furthur proof that there is no evidence against the positive effectiveness of HRT treatment at younger ages than suggested in the report.
In any case - Cass herself backpeddled on all of this and agreed that Puberty Blockers should be prescribed at earlier ages than 15, and that Gender Affirming Hormones should be available to young people. So the call for caution is all bullshit. Was all along. Will always remain.

the only toxic part about the trans debate is that it is happening at all by know nothing bad faith actors that want to take life saving medical care away from millions. That trans people defending them self are mean to you, and calling you out for what you are doing in clear terms is not toxic in the sligthest.
