Poilievre is calm and collected but he has a little kick, a little swag that none of Harper, Scheer and O'Toole ever had, especially the latter two. It strikes me because, although I supported them, I always had a hard time connecting with the personality of the previous conservative leaders who were very cold and boring. I don't mean to insult you guys, but protestant anglo-saxons have a certain demeanor, a certain decorum which doesn't quite reasonate with Frenchies like myself and others who are more expressive and prefer our leaders to be that way (most popular premier in Quebec history was a very warm and intense Rene Levesque).Well, Poilievre is different than Harper, Scheer and O'Toole. He's more lively, more snarky, more insulting, more playful, more Trump-style 'GFY' than his predecessors, and I adore that. I'm in Atlantic Canada and work full time making nearly $30 an hour. With mortgage interest rates as they are, and houses selling for far more than asking price, it's impossible for me to afford a home.
People from Ontario are flocking here for our "cheap housing" and are literally gentrifying our province and pricing native residents out. People are doomed to rent and landlords are given full control, meaning rents that were once reasonable are now nearly doubling in price or worse. Regular increases of $500+ are now the norm, and no ones wages are going up to accommodate for that. Government won't enforce a rent cap either. Our homeless population has skyrocketed.
Ontario folks are coming here with millions of dollars after selling their tiny shabby properties home and are able to buy any property they want here. They even started a trend of cash offers with no inspections, so if you ask for an inspection, your bid won't even be looked at. Even worse, they're bidding so high over asking, that no one but our province's richest population can afford to buy. You wanna buy a house for $198,000? Too bad, someone from Ontario came and offered $450,000 with no conditions or inspection. They're also buying houses and apartment complexes so they can rent them out for Ontario prices.
Our government CAN help, but they won't.

You couldn't be more wrong about that - it is not possible for any government to properly function in all their duties solely on Taxes. Beside that, taxes are not a means of paying for anything it's how the government balances the budget - $1 out + $1 in = a Balance budget. Everything the Government "spends" is derived from a few key strokes and the deficits are covered by issuing bond which MUST be paid for in CDN currency thus allowing the Government the flexibility to add investment "spend" and continue to manage and stimulate the economy. Think about it in these terms, which came first, money or taxes? Do some research - it will help you better understand monetary policy.
