You should know that the biggest pyramid at the el Tajin is the pyramid of los Nichos. Each hole is a day of the year. Just like Chichen Itza, the pyramid of los Nichos is a calender of itself.

This video is awesome. There was this kind of light in some scenes that really helped get better full shots.
So greenish. I lived three hours north from Tajin. In Tampico across the Panunco River. Where the south (Veracruz) finishes and the North begins ( Tamaulipas ) Northern Mexico is the thing. Hahaha.
I remember when i was a college student, me and my buddies used to camp there. With campfires, tents and stuff.
You wouldnt believe how many ceramic stuff, little faces, instruments we found burried there. By just scratching and digging not that deep there. Complete jars were found scattered there. Once again thank you wera and wero for everything you do with such love and passion to show Mexico to the world. Had i noticed you were going to be there, i would've driven south to meet you guys.

Love the video. You drove past a secret, locally known but undiscovered place that has pyramids with grass grown overtop. It's farmland but you can find artifacts galore in the fields. Its like Indiana Jones. I have said enough.
When the Europeans arrived they were amazed at how much more advanced the Aztecs were from them. I enjoyed Mel Gibson's movie "Apocolypto". It was filmed in Veracruz, I think in Catemaco (a town full of witches where they eat monkey). Dan Carlin has a great podcast on the history of the Aztecs that taught me a lot. Ya'll keep going off the beaten path and discover more of Mexico!

Tajín, en northern Veracruz truly a big Megacomplex of Pyramids, 40 en total and only 8% have been excavated! Yes voladores de Papantla are at their origin but probably known all over Mexico, so I guess it makes these voladores even more special and lol....Güerita and you have accustomed yourselves to taking everything into the diminutive, uprated my dear Güerita and my dear Goyito! :)

I'm glad to see you enjoyed the pyramids and the citadel. I was apprehensive about watching the video because in the past when you went to Chichen Itza you complained that the pyramids at the archaeological sites had been restored and not shown in the state they were found and then questioning the authenticity of the site that it made my blood boil! And this time you really took time to visit the citadel which you didn't do in the past. With this new understanding and appreciation of how to visit these glorious archaeological sites hopefully you'll one day go back to Chichen and spend the entire day there to see how spectacular the entire citadel is (which you really didn't see) instead of just visiting a few of the structures and then leaving and why it is considered one of the wonders of the world. It does make it more magical when these sites aren't as crowded.

The use of diminutives does not always show size; it also shows that people are speaking with affection; con carino.

    1. Pyramid of the 365 niches related to the annual cycle. Immortalized in the Diego Rivera mural in the Palacio Nacional. 2. There are 4 voladores that each make 13 revolutions before touching down. 4 x 15 = 52 is the major cycle end. The Mayan calendars coincided every 52 years. The Aztecs made a special sacrifice to mark year 52 by extinguishing all fires. Priests then sacrificed a noble victim on Cerro de la Estrella (east of CDMX) and lit the new fire on his chest. They then carried the new fire to the awaiting citizens. If they had failed to light the fire, the world would have come to an end.

Congratz Ed ! This is the kind of information we Mexicans like to be learned by tourists while visiting cutural sites, not just the amazing landscape, it adds the more important layer of Mexican culture.
