Another excellent video Vanessa. That was a fun day riding the Transfăgărășan Highway with you and you are so right about getting up and riding it early. Great job as usual!
Great video and you are right about getting your bum out of bed. That applies equally to lots of UK passes, especially the Lake District ones e.g Wrynose and Hardknott single track roads when camper vans in midsumer do not mix well with motorcycles! My favourite is the "Hanger Loops" in the Himalayas, the route up to Lamayuru at the head of the Indus valley, Himalayas that I did in Sept 2015. It has 112 hairpins and the road surface is non-existent in places with plenty craters and marbles where there was a surface, however the scenery is unexplainable to anyone who has never been there!
I wouldn't consider myself a military genius but I can't imagine a switchback road that doubles back on itself for miles and miles up the side of a canyon would be the best option for a speedy retreat from an advancing military! Makes a great road for riding and driving though. Another great vid, thanks Vanessa!
The fact is that between Bucegi mountains and Olt river valley in the south Carpathian mountains are no others passes. I'm not a specialist also but if you don't know all the mountains configuration and you don't have a history of the battles in this area you can't figure out the reasons of its need.
Hi Vanessa. My wife and I love watching your videos and get lots of tips from them. So the Transfagarasan is on our list for next year. It would be great to know where you stayed the night before doing it just to give me some ideas. We’ll be travelling from Ireland so there’s a little tiny bit of planning involved 😂 Cheers David
For riding fast this is the wrong road. Too bumpy, tarmac not too grippy, many slow drivers/riders. But the Transfagarasan is perfect for taking it easy and enjoying the scenery. You're right, Vanessa, it is best to start early in Midweek. Happy New Year, Günter/Nürnberg
I would have loved to have ridden that road. The nearest that I've come to a a road that is maybe a snapshot of a very small part of it in the England is Fish Hill, the A44 between Evesham and Stowe on the Wold. All a bit boring for what you're doing but I've seen riders go very pale and talk scribble when they've ridden it to the top with maybe slightly too much enthusiasm. Many thanks for sharing.
Great video, Vanessa! I wanted to mention for your viewers planning to ride on Transfagarasan: please check the road's status. It may be closed for a significant portion of the year (at least partially), and there are years when it only opens in June. The same for Transalpina. Good rides!
Transfagarasan is indeed a nice road. But i like the Transalpina more. Similiar kind of road but much better tarmac. I've riden them both in 2 days when i was in Romania in 2022
And I just know that on the day this video was filmed, the sun rose that early due to having been motivated (or having gotten it s rear prodded) by you! Hah! 🤗😁
The Tra-what ? I thought that we here in Sweden threw a lot of umlauts/symbols on top of our vowels, but this is silly on another level. 😜 It looks amazing anyway!
Well done my dear! As I mentioned on your previous video for the Transalpina pass I was there in 2015 and still remember both. Picking up a favourite one is a hard task, but as a personal preference this is the one better for me. What is yours?
Done it again two weeks ago. Quallity of the tarmac improved on the south side. Still, best if you have an adv. Have done it on a Harley as well as on a Tiger 900 and I have had a better time on the Tiger.
thanks Lae. Man I loved that bike, so much torque and enjoying it with a friend. I wouldn't ride the road any faster with speed limits etc so was fun to cruise hehe
check out riding up Doi Suthep in Chiang mai, Thailand, 77 corners in 10 minutes, and more, and the road to Pai ,if you can deal with the tourist traffic
No criticism of those that liked this video but I would prefer to see more of the road and less just standing and talking. Best would be getting all the info while viewing the ride (just my personal opinion).
Interesting Romanian mountain road and ride-thumbs up"
Yey thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
Never been but it's on my bucket list 😮
Woooo!

I guess with the weight of kit it was the only way to cross such an elevation

Transfagarasan for eyes, Transalpina for soul. 👍

I am 30 km from the road. So, when I get bored,I 'do a Transfăgărășanu. I am so lucky. But now is cold, and snow and the road is closed.
Oh wow that sounds ace, super great spot!

Nice video. Lousy bike for that road.
thanks Lae. Man I loved that bike, so much torque and enjoying it with a friend. I wouldn't ride the road any faster with speed limits etc so was fun to cruise hehe
How much corner clearance has that Harley got? Did you scrape the pegs on the tighter curves?
yeah some ace scrapes on the corners, that's half the fun hehe
