I'm 65 and it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Bought it 2 years ago and use is mainly off road. Explored many abandoned mines and cabins in Death Valley, Inyo and Mono county mountains, Put it in the back of my 4Runner, go out to the middle of nowhere and take the Surron out and explore from there. No noise, no fuel, can't get stuck on those knarly , rutted out, shelf roads. Has taken me to places that no one has been to in decades, a total game changer for me.
That’s worth the price of admission alone
Where in Inyo do you go? Ever been to Silver Lake Resort or June Lake?
That is awesome 😎
DO YOU HAVE THE LIGHT BEE X ?
5 years of Sur Ron Light Bee. The bike that defined the class of light weight emotos. I'm still rocking my 2018 Light Bee MX the classic Light Bee and still grabbing podiums with it. Recently took 2nd in the Virginia City Grand Prix electric class and we had nothing but Sur Rons racing that class. That goes to show the popularity of this bike. I've nearly broken or replaced every part on it already though =P
Have you ever thought about getting any of the new e-bikes? If so, new surron or another brand?
@@Alex-oy6wbyes I've thought about getting an Ultra Bee and recently I've been wanting to get that Arctic Leopard EXC800. I love the Light Bee but it doesn't have motorcycle components that are robust and better for rough riding. But no monies and I dumped it all into my Light Bee =/ I also have an Alta Redshift SM I use to race against bigger supermoto bikes.
Enjoyed the video. I feel exact same way about my 2022 surron x black.
Your old Surron is my old Surron! When I owned it, I went down the rabbit hole on the upgrades. If I were to do it over, I would do your “mandatory” upgrades and be done. I got a new Honda Navi and purposely did not repeat that mistake. That little moto scooter is a blast to commute on😃
Looking forward to the matchup comparisons. Wonder if you’ll race the various brands in stock form with different riders or same rider doing lap times on same track. Would be nice to see a comparison on different terrain too (dirt, mountain, street, etc.) to see which version shines in the various tracks.
Hi, is it ok for ~6'2" (187cm / 100kg) ?
Nice update! Given all the upgrades you did, what budget upgrades would you recommend for a new surron buyer who primarily uses it for off road mountain trails?
Thanks! We actually put all of those recommendations in the article linked in the video here: bit.ly/2024LightBeeX
Our "mandatory" budget recommendations are: tires/tubes, bars/stem, chain/sprocket, foot pegs and brake pads.
There are plenty more upgrades to do beyond that but we would use that as the jumping off point!
@@ElectricCycleRiderthanks! I noticed that the battery connection on 2024 lbx is different than 2023 lbx. Did you notice same thing? Is their a difference in the 2024 one point connection vs 2023 2 point connector?
C'mon Tucker where is your video on the new Artic Leopards..Exe and Ex's. Other outlets are putting videos out and I know you have one... let's go!! I'm about to drive 700 miles to buy on this weekend...I need your expertise. ✌️😂
Do you recommend the Hayes dominion over the trp for Surron lbx?
GOOD, what about the ultra? a new model soon? with 21/18 wheels?
That would be amazing. I've been keeping an eye on the Dust Moto development, but an Ultra Bee with 21/18 wheels straight from the factory would be a much more wallet-friendly option.
Eride ProSS appears to be in the lead at the moment. I hope that model will be included in comparo.
Yes sir, it will.
Definitely is but if you buy a Surron directly from China (Alibaba) you can get it for $3100 ($500 shipping). About $2k cheaper than Eride ($5500 out the door with taxes; depending on your state). I would say buy American but we should not fool ourselves. Chinese made a good product and Eride probably sources its parts from China
@@Alex-oy6wb just got my alibaba one 3700 shipped to door.. saved $1800 so cant really say eride is best option
@@Alex-oy6wberide is most definitely made in china. but thats not a bad thinkg in my opinion.
@@fxcg China not a bad thing…maybe…but their government seemingly encourages stealing American IP, pushes imperialism, is ran by a dictator, oppresses freedom of speech, etc.
Can you loft the front tire over logs like a Trials bike?
Easily
No mention of the new battery connection and harness ?
Do you still need to cut the wire if so where
Yup. Can’t find a battery upgrade that’s just plug and play with new one plug connector
Where can I buy. 2024 ??
More power is a bit more fun but totally not needed. All this bike needs is tires and a set of bar risers to go out and play.
If the light bee was 12kw like the ultra but still as light as it is now. That would be an awesome bike
Video 👍 SUR-RON
Will they ever actually update this model? I’m surprised they haven’t introduced something with a solid swingarm, bigger 72v battery, controller, and a wide 16/19 tyre setup. After 5 years customers are ready for something more capable but… half a decade later, still the wobbly swingarm, etc, etc. not surprising Talaria, E-Ride, etc are growing segment share. Each competitor bike is a newer bike than this one - the original one, still unfortunately little changed from the bike to start it all. Such a shame not to see it evolving. Come on Sur Ron, we're ready and waiting... don't make me buy an E-ride Pro.
Yeah, they've been resting on their laurels for way too long. Maybe they spent a lot of resources developing the Storm and Ultra Bee. It's cool to see them fill some other niches, but you can't forget dance with the one who brought ya. But as he says at the end of the video, there might be some big news ahead later this year. 10th anniversary of the company would be a great time to finally unveil a fully revised Light Bee X!
@@jasper_of_puppets Totally agree. It’s been way too long! Would love to see them come out with more than one version of the light bee x, like an upgraded bike similar to the one on sale but also one or two models that climb in spec. A top spec off-road model with proper wheels/tyres and Ultra Bee battery and power would be amazing - with a solid swingarm and a flat seat on all of them! Wish they’d let us know if something is coming this year as I’ll happily wait for it - if a release is planned...
i want a crossbike but i dont know which one to get can someon help i want it to accelarate fast have a good range of miles be under or 6000 euros and good max speed i dont care if its electric or not im just alot in the mountains and crossing on tracks
What is the max power that can be pulled from the new battery , new battery connector and harness, assuming use with an aftermarket controller
I don't know about others, but with a stock, Panasonic 40ah non-bypassed battery, the Torp TC500 controller can do over 7kw.
@@jasper_of_puppetsyeah. TORP says you can get 8.5kw from the 38ah compared to 7kw from the 40ah. They say it’s because the 38ah has better battery cells. But not sure if they tested on new 2024 battery which has only one connector compared to 2 connectors on 2023 Surron
Sur-Ron nailed frame .. still under 5 grand ..... has gotten added power which validates the frame .. massive after market .. Hmm .. winner winner chicken dinner
Is it street legal?
Honestly. It depends on your state. In my state I can ride it in the bike lane and on certain paved bike trails but can't ride it as a "motorcycle"
This is for people of which age
2:51 this video is fake news!
If you look carefully at 2:51 he has a dual battery connector. The new 2024 Surron has a single battery connector.
Why you gotta lie Craig?
Sometimes changes can come mid-year into the same production season for the bike. It might be an early-model 2024 Surron from before they switched up the battery connector.
next it needs 72v battery
Wrong about batteries…. 2022 has 32a still
“It’s called a surron.”
Love it.
I repeat this seven times a day at least
Sauron suck, Get a E RIDE PRO SS
Nah morgoth was always more OP imo.
@@user-ue1ji4du2q True.. But man, them Balrogs were straight-up 🔥
