Ningen Isu have been around for a LONG time ( since 1987 ) and have over the past 36 years perfected their craft . Not only are they superb musicians but they can be very innovative - if you want to check out some of their other stuff I'd suggest " At The Mountains Of Madness " it's not often you get to hear a Metal band playing a THEREMIN in their song or their latest release " Farewell to the World " ( cool video )
BTW - their costumes are - Guitar - a Meiji Scholar - Bass - a Buddhist Priest and the Drummer a Yakusa Gangster - and Ningen Isu translates as " Human Chair "
    Enjoy !

Ningen Isu have been around for a while, but I also just discovered them pretty recently. The crazy thing is that "Heartless Scat" is a song about not having achieved success in life, but this song is the song that really blew up and brought them way more attention than they had ever perviously had, especially outside of Japan. It's their most viewed MV on YT with around 14m views. The band members have talked about how they had to work other jobs while still pumping out music. Their guitarist, Shinji Wajima, and their Bassist, Kenichi Suzuki, were original founding members in 1987, while the drummer, Nobu Nakajima, joined in 2004. It's crazy that these guys aren't more well know, but I'm happy they are finally getting some of the recognition that they deserve. They got to do their first ever tour outside of Japan in 2020, just before everything shut down because of the pandemic.
If you want to hear more from them, they have such a good catalog of songs to listen to. They have released 24 albums, according to wikipedia, and 7 in the past 10 years, so they're still going strong for a band of 3 guys in their late 50's. If you're interested in reacting to more of their stuff, I would recommend:
    1. The Color out of Space
    2. Namahage
    3. At The Mountains Of Madness (the live version for the Theremin)
    4. Toshishun
    5. Farewell to The World
    6. Life For Sale
    7. Baptism
    8. Ghost Train
    9. Great King of Terror
    10. Voice of Nothing
    11. Chou-nouryoku ga Atta nara (live version)
They have a bunch of other good songs but these ones have music videos or live versions easily found on RUclips. They also vary in sound and style, as well as showcase vocals from all 3 band members.

This band has multiple distinct eras based on who was drumming for them at the time. This drummer (Nobu Nakajima) represents their more doom-metal phase (and he's the drummer who has the most tenure with the band). If you go back to the late 90's and early 2000's you'll find drummer Masuhiro Goto, and the records he played on are much more prog-influenced.
I really recommend the song Kaijin Niju Mensou ( ruclips.net/video/fld_zHO6Kqc/видео.html ) which roughly translates as 'The Phantom with Twenty Faces'. The bass player sings the lead vocals, and the song has tons of killer riffs.
