Great reaction - you weren't far off, the pronunciation is more like Oh-neh-dah-ree Dy-sa-ksen ... it means Big Operation Beg Dad For It. They are using all their girlish charms and all the tricks they can think of to get Dad to buy them ALL the shiny and delicious things ... and if Dad won't stump up the money they'll get it from Mum behind Dad's back. Who could deny Yui and Moa all the money? 💰💸🤑 They usually wore skeleton hoodies for this song☠ on a one-off special for Legend 1997, they wore Christmas style red hoodies with fur round the hoods. This is Black BABYMETAL's take on Nu-Metal. Not only was there a sample of Fred Durst in this, Moa once said in an interview that the first time they saw Limp Bizkit and they played 'My Generation' she thought it sounded familiar - then she thought it was a tribute to 'Onedari Daisakusen' ... and then it dawned on her that no it was completely the other way round.🤣 Su-metal provides the spoken and whispered backing for this (on backing track), but apparently she did appear on stage one time playing the DJ ("Su-metal in da house!") - sadly there is no video for that, an audio recording does exist.
_Katte katte!_ _Chodai chodai!_ 🦊🤘🤑 Sad you fall on this live compilation, it's among my favorite BBM song, that's why i always recommend the live at Legend 1997, that's the safest clip to react. Like you probably already know, the hoodies always are 🔥when on sales. Onedari Daisakusen or "Operation Beg Dad For It" it's the first BBM song and it's from the first album, you got it almost right with the pronunciation, just remember the u is mute so it reads something like "dah - e - sak - zen". Just like with GJ and Song 4 MoaMetal got a solo version live at Budokan 2021, super recommended. Sis Anger is the only BBM song without a Moa solo version. Now you got "Song 4" or "4 No Uta" left, try to get the live at Budokan 2014, that one is usually safe. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥
There is a tradition among the Japanese Babymetal fan community that when they used to perform this song live, fans would make fake money with Moa and Yui's faces on them, and during the song when they chant "Katte! Katte! Katte!", which means "Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!" fans throw the money up in the air. Although Onedari hasn't been played live for a long time (except for 10 Babymetal Budokan), Japanese fans still make and hand out the fake money at shows. When I was in Japan in January, I was very kindly given 10,000 MoaYen, but since they didn't play Onedari, I didn't get to throw it.
💀 💕 / 💸 💸 "One for the money! Two for the money! Three for the money! Money! Money! Money! Money!" 'Onedari Daisakusen' is about sweet talking Dad (and Mom, but mostly Dad) into buying them things. The lyrics really have to be interpreted through the lens of a little kid. BTW, that's Su on the backing track. This song could even be described as "Onedari Daisakusen by Black BABYMETAL - FEAT. Su-metal". : ) After an almost five year break, they brought this song back for two of the ten 2021 Budokan concerts. In that version, Moa played the part of an older girl instructing her little sisters (supporting dancers) how to sweet talk their parents into buying them stuff. I thought that was a great way to revisit a song that they had grown out of. Not sure it was ever officially explained, but Black BABYMETAL songs tend to be heavier, and Yui and Moa are often turned to the dark side in the kamishibai (picture story narrations) that introduce those songs. Of course it's also a play on the Black Metal genre. BTW, this was a compilation video. They listed the concerts/venues in the bottom left corner.
If you are a dad with girls, this is maybe the most dangerous song in music 🙂 Babymetal is great to get girls into (baby)metal, but it's best for them not to know about the lyrics of this song LOL
So fun! Moa has also performed this recently in 2021, I wonder if she is going to perform it again with MOMO and other BLACK BM songs like Sis. Anger, would be epic. Imagine if they returned at Tokyo Dome someday, that would be even more epic 🦊🤘🏼
Nice! This was my favorite Black Babymetal song. It’s basically Limp Bizkit, except instead of Fred Durst being Fred, it’s Moa and Yui being 2 spoiled brats using all the tricks of the “cute” trade to get their dads to spend all the money and buy them things 🤣. Who can resist the charms of these 2? Just hilariously awesome. Fred Durst’s voice samples even made it into the song lol (Chyeeeah!, Fly!) 🤘🦊
Ok, nobody is going to mention the elephant in the room? Fine, I will. Your dog is so adorable!!! Like a chubby old goat making his rounds, putting around the house. What's his/her name? Btw, your reaction was genuine and not over the top. I appreciate that. Now, there is a version of this song on video that has gotten over a million views. Probably because moa is grown up, right after yui left. She does it, just her and a few skeleton faced Avengers. One last thing. There was a time when music didn't need lyrics. The artist didn't have to explain what its about. The instruments painted an adventure without verbal cues or direction. Concertos, nocturnes, sonatas. Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin. I first heard Onedari when I was in my car without context. No idea what the live looked like or what it was about. I didn't need to, the music, and feeling spoke for itself. That is why BM is so special to me. Anyways. Only the fox God Knows. Chow. 🦊🤘
Thanks for watching! And her name is Sadie. She is very adorable! And it’s true, I tend to pick up on the feeling of the song and the instrumental before I pick up on the lyrics.
I think there are more compilations on YT than there are actual concerts. The song is "Beg Dad Operation", it's about praising dad to get money and gifts. A proshot of Bring Me The Horizon's Kingslayer when they performed it with BABYMETAL drops Tuesday next week, you may want to prioritize that one.
"Onedari sakusen" means "Beg Dad for it operation". "Onedari Daisakusen" means "Big beg Dad for it operation". Of course they add "Dai" only for the song title.
@@psylus574 If you are interested in some Christmas music for this season I recommend: Tommee Profitt - O Come O Come Emmanuel Tommee Profitt- What Child Is This (feat. Avril Lavigne) Tommee Profitt - Mary Did You Know (ft Jordan Smith)
Great reaction, thanks! I would be broke if I was the father of these two! 😅 "...the pre-chorus, like the whisper part. I don't know why but that part was very cool too". That was Su-metal and you are under her spell, haha... This is what Moa commented in Hedoban v10 about using a Fred Durst's sample: Q: When you see these overseas bands perform do you get interested in their music and go on to listen to them? Moametal: Yes. When I heard Limp Bizkit’s ‘My Generation’ I immediately thought to myself that I had heard it somewhere before. (laughs) We do an homage to them, but the first time I heard them perform it, it made me feel like they were doing an homage to us. (laughs) Until next time! 🤘🦊
This is one of my favorites. The whispering is Su. The riff and rhythm they borrowed from Limp Bizkit's My Generation. Very subversive song. Idols, which Babymetal were at the time this was recorded, are supposed to be examples for young girls to look up to. So what is Black Babymetal up to? Lying and manipulating dad for money. As a group, they've always scoffed at convention.
It’s a pity that you reacted to a compilation video. Compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. You are not reacting to BABYMETAL, you are reacting to a highlight reel of BABYMETAL. Far and away the best version of this song is the "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" version. I suggest you call this one an "OOPS!!", and try again with the aforementioned version. Sadly, I specifically mentioned this version in a previous Black BABYMETAL reaction of yours - makes it rather pointless to make suggestions, doesn't it? 🤘🦊🤘

Take a look at Moa's LIVE solo performance of this song at Budokan 2021.
I second this suggestion. She took the performance to the next level, not to mention better audio too.
