Every local is different, we didn't get a dam thing. However! IBEW is hands down the best thing to happen to the electrical industry, period, flat out, hands down, EVER.
Thanks for the shout out!! For anyone wondering, I will start making videos again soon. I recently moved and started my apprenticeship a couple months ago so I’ve been really busy with work. This video definitely inspired me to get back to it! 🤜🏼⚡️🤛🏼
You got it bro! I’ve been in the same boat as far as just being slammed goes. I’m finally in a position to start cranking out videos again. Can’t wait to see more from you and hear how your apprenticeship has been so far. Glad to hear that this gets you excited to get back at it ⚡️
Love seeing these videos, especially your video about boot camp and this current video. As of today finished my first week of boot camp at local 48, starting the inside wireman program. Excited to see what next week holds!! Thanks for all the knowledge you’ve shared!!🙌
I got the call back, and put in my 2 weeks!
I greatly appreciate you posting these videos and dedicating/organizing your channel to detail the process and steps required when applying as an electrician within the IBEW. I have also informed my cousin, who is soon be a father, of the vast benefits this program has to offer, as well as your channel. Both he and I are currently working on our applications for the Limited energy apprenticeship program for Local 48. Although I, unfortunately, have yet to gain relevant work experience for this trade, you have inspired me to still apply, in hopes of being able to begin my journey ASAP. I hope to get the opportunity to possibly cross your path one day and thank you in person.
Thank you for the videos you've really helped!
Hey! I'm happy to hear that!
I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Cheers ⚡️
Not gonna lie im a little jealous. I just started in local 58 and i had to purchase all of these tools out of pocket.
Thanks for the info!
Hey bro!
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Your pumpkin pie was fantastic by the way 🥧
Happy to see you back, man! I’m happy to say that I officially made it into the program here in local 46 and I was dispatched to work in early October! My whole journey started with your videos. They helped out so much. Thank you, Stephen! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Thanks, Brandon! It feels really good to be back posting again. Wow, congratulations on making it in! They make insane money at 46 🤯 Are you enjoying the apprenticeship so far?
I’m so glad to hear that these videos have helped you out. Even if they just helped one person make it in, it makes all of the time I spent on these well worth it. You’re very welcome! Cheers brother ⚡️
@@MadElectrician I’m absolutely loving the apprenticeship so far. I’m currently working in prefab and it’s awesome. I’m learning so much before I actually go to a job site. I actually got dispatched to the same contractor as Sparky’s Journey. Small world! He’s a great dude and has trained me in a bunch of cool stuff in our prefab shop.
Can’t wait for more videos. Take it easy, bro!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Welcome back! I really want to become an electrician
Thanks! It’s good to be back!
It’s an awesome career path and I would highly recommend it. Hopefully my channel can serve as a good resource for you if you choose to go this route.
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
He's back!
You know it ⚡️
this channel helped me decide to become an electrician. I started at a private company a few months ago and my IBEW aptitude test is in a couple weeks.
It’s so cool to get comments like this. I appreciate you taking the time to say that. I’m glad that this is positively affecting some people. Becoming an electrician is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Wishing you the best of luck on your test! ⚡️
HEYYYY! I found you about a couple weeks ago and saw you did not stream for awhile but GLAD to see you back. I hope your stream kicks off because I like how you almost answer EVERYTHING in your videos. I am wanting to become an electrician. I am in like the same shoes as your brother making more money in a different job and dont want to get a pay cut going into the trade. So now that you convinced me and it's a no brainers the best thing to do as a CAREER it's time. 32 years of age and I know you mentioned age didnt really matter soo👍 can you make a video or explain here "WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GO THROUGH THE TEST ONLINE AND THAN DONT SHOW UP FOR THE SCHEDULED DATE TO TEST IN PERSON?" Is that it no 2nd chance ?
Hey Tony!
Wow, that’s so great to hear! Yeah, it’s been a little while since I posted a video but I’m finally getting back into posting regularly again! That’s definitely my intent, to answer as many questions as I can in my videos and give all of the information that I would have wanted to know prior to getting into the trade.
I think that you will have no regrets pursuing this career, and despite needing to take a pay cut like my brother, I think it will be well worth it in the end. It’s so cool to hear that you’re finding these videos to be so useful!
As far as your testing question goes, to be honest, I don’t actually know the answer to that one. I would recommend trying to get a hold of the training center/ union right away though to see what can be done. I would think that you could always test again and show up in person.
Hope that helps a little bit.
Thanks for watching!
Cheers ⚡️
I really appreciate your insight into what the IBEW has to offer. I’m a high school student who will graduate during May of 2022 and I work at an Ace Hardware part time. Working there I gained an interest in electrical work and did research into what opportunities are out there for aspiring electricians. I found your channel and you have given me a lot of information about what the IBEW has to offer as a career path for an electrician. I’m going to get into contact with my local IBEW to see how I can join their apprenticeship program soon. I really appreciate your guidance you have given me throughout your videos and I wish you the best of success in life.
Hey Anthony! Wow, it sounds like you are in a very good situation to be a good candidate for getting into the apprenticeship! It's great that you're working at Ace Hardware as you will be well rounded in the material that electricians use. I'm happy to hear that this channel has served as a good resource for you and I wish you the best of luck on getting in!
I can't always respond right away, but don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Thanks for your kind words. Cheers brother ⚡️
Living the sparky life 🤙
Let’s gooooo!!! 🥳⚡️
applied at the local 48 portland in august. placed 231. looking forward to getting that class date.
Hey, right on!
Always cool to have from around this area watching my videos. Wishing you the best of luck getting in!
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Starting school next month(: after two years of being a trainee/helper and staying with the same company for over a year now I’m beyond excited and so is everyone I work with, plus they’ll have a spot for me once I’m out of school. Very happy to be receiving an opportunity like this at the age of 20
Wow, that's very exciting news! Congratulations on starting your apprenticeship soon! It's been a really amazing thing for me and my family and I'm sure it will be for you too. Plus, I think it will be nice for you not only to get in so young but to also get to stay with the same company.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Cheers ⚡️
Thank you!
Ayyooo he's here again!
I missed you too 🥺
It’s good to be back at it! ⚡️
Dam yall get hooked up! For my boot camp class, LA local 11, only the people who really need them got them. They ask for proof of prior income. we don't get bags and Low voltage doesn't get cable toner though. it's awesome they do up there. Stay safe brother!🤙
I really wish that every local gave out tools for their apprentices like we do here. It definitely helped me getting in by making the trade more accessible for me. Hopefully more locals will eventually start doing this.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video, and you stay safe out there too brother! ⚡️
Hey been watching your videos for a little while and now I made it in one of your videos 😂 lucked out going into that bootcamp class I guess🤷♂️ been waiting for this video ever since I saw you recording haha
That’s hilarious 😂
I just happened to get out of my 9th term class early and I wanted to grab some B-roll footage for this video. I was hoping to get footage of you guys using your tools but sitting down and listening works too 😂
How are you enjoying the apprenticeship so far?
@@MadElectrician yeah it's going great so far! Very excited for the next 5 years🤙🏻
At my local they provide a tester (used to be Fluke, but this year they're switching to Ideal because Fluke never works with them, whereas Ideal does), and all of our textbooks.
I’ve been watching your videos for months now and I’m in the process of my apprenticeship I take my aptitude test in December wish me luck🤞
Hey Will! That’s so awesome to hear!
Good luck on your upcoming aptitude test. Wishing you the best of luck 🤞🏼
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Thanks for the videos my brother. I have my interview on the 16th and I am so ready and your videos have really helped me a lot. After watching your videos for a while I realized we both live in the same area, and we went to high school together! GHS ‘12. I do not remember even meeting you however, my name is Jesus Delgado. Thanks so much for the helpful videos once again! Wish me luck brother.
Good luck, bro!
I watched his videos and ranked in the top 100 after the interview. You got this. 👍
No way! That’s awesome 😂
The name doesn’t ring a bell but I’m sure that I would recognize you if I saw you! Small word. I’m happy to hear that my channel has been a good resource for you and I wish you the best of luck on your upcoming interview!
Whaddup I’m one of the boot campers in that class you brought your camera to✊
No way! That’s crazy 😂
How was your bootcamp? And how are you enjoying being in the apprenticeship so far??
In my local, we didn't get tools. However, we were provided with a pair of Red Wing and Thorogood boots as 4 pairs of FR Tyndale pants, and 4 Tyndale FR shirts. I think now apprentices are provided boots and tools instead of FR clothing.
Wow, that’s actually really cool that they do that! Boots and FR clothing aren’t cheap!
Tools are nice but so is that.
I appreciate you watching and sharing that. I had no idea that some locals give out boots/ clothes.
I'm looking to be an apprentice electrician here in the LA area 🙌🏼
Hey, Gumer! That’s great to hear! I would highly recommend it. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
IBEW 613 need to do this
I like your jacket bro 😎
Oh hey, thanks 😘
You should totally ditch Florida and come back. David withdrawals aren’t fun 😢
I he’s d you read the IBEW tool list and in it they said people need a tote for their tools. Is it best to have both a tote and tool belt upon first day of apprenticeship?
Hey man great video! Just had my interview here at local 48 too a mont ago! Got ranked 19, curious if you heard anything about new boot camps starting up? Thank you
Wow! 19 is a fantastic rank! I haven’t specifically heard anything but it seems to me like they are doing a bootcamp every other week. I’d imagine that you’ll be starting bootcamp very soon! Congrats on ranking 19!
I appreciate your kind words and you are very welcome brother ⚡️
@@MadElectrician you’re the man! Appreciate it hope to be seeing you around the local here pretty soon. ⚡️⚡️
@@cartermurray3084 There’s definitely a good chance we’ll run into eachother at some point! I have school right now on Mondays and next month on Tuesdays (for my final term), so I’ll most likely be around when you’re in bootcamp 😎
When I was an apprentice with Local 48, my tools got stolen from my vehicle twice. I provided a police report to the training center each time and got my tools replaced.
Wow! That’s really cool that they went ahead and did that for you! Local 48 does a great job at taking care of their apprentices and making sure that they are set up for success.
Thanks for taking the time to watch this! ⚡️
I want to become an IBEW electrician and currently live in San Diego. I have been planning on moving up to Portland, but I'm worried about my ability to transfer up there. I have applied to local 569 down here, but I definitely see myself moving up to the PNW where most of my family is sometime.
Do you think transferring up to local 48 would be feasible, or should I just find a materials handler job for a few years until I can make the move up to Portland?
I promised my gf she would never have to work again if I became an electrician. Thank you for helping me continue this journey and keep my promise
A promise that is very possible to keep with this career! That’s very cool and I’m happy to hear that this channel has been encouraging!
You’re very welcome and wishing you the best of luck on your journey to becoming an electrician! ⚡️
Hey! Anyone in the Atlanta GA area have advice on union or non union apprentice programs? I am definitely interested in the ibew but trying to research my options.
Hello, I applied with the IBEW Residential Electrician apprentice. Interviews are not until April/May of 2022. I have attended the monthly hiring workshop last month. I will also attend it again in January to show interest. Is there anything I can do to increase my interest and make myself stand out for earning an a residential electrician apprenticeship? I am currently working at a property management company in the maintenance section. Thank you
How big are the average first year classes up there? Where I am the average is about 10.
What??? I had to buy all my tools, I'm working for Local 613 Atlanta GA
Unfortunately not every local does this. It would be awesome if they did though! It would be a huge help for more people looking into joining the trade with the IBEW. I know it was a huge benefit for me when I got in.
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Does the IBEW accept new Apprentices all year or I assume they recruit when classes begin? When is that? Thank you again
Damn your local gave you tools?! I feel so gypped.
Yeah! It’s unfortunate that not every local does it too. It was a huge help for me getting into the trade, not needing to buy my tools. Hopefully more locals will start getting on board with this as it makes the trade much more accessible for new apprentices.
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
I felt the same way. I’m crying at how much I had to spend. We didn’t even get a boot camp. Thrown in the deep end of the pool. Mew Mexico 611 did pass a vote to help students by paying half for the books for 2022-23
Which area you are from, Steven
I'm from Local 48 in the Portland, Oregon area.
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Hello mad electrician ...are this tools will be offred to different locals ...i am jw local 130
This is just what Local 48 does for their apprentices. Some other locals probably do the same thing with other or even the same tools, but not all locals will give their apprentice free tools ⚡️
@@MadElectrician they don't offer anything but paying for everything. unless there is an upcoming vote 😉
What age did *you* become an Electrician?
Hey, thanks for watching!
I was 22 when I started! ⚡️
@@MadElectrician Thank you, man. Does the IBEW accept new Apprentices all year or I assume they recruit when classes begin? When is that? Thank you again
I'm 112. I had to buy all my shit lol
Man, that's too bad. I really wish every local did this. Time to go on strike 😂
My local doesn't give out free tools lol
Nothing is free in this world. You'll pay them back in union dues🤪
We definitely do pay our fair share of dues. I’m actually hoping to make a video in the near future breaking down union dues.
Crappy tools lol
You really think so? The only tools on this list that I’m not a huge fan of are the Milwaukee Channel locks and the Klein tick tracer. Aside from those, I’m a huge fan of these tools ⚡️
I will say though, I do love me some Knipex and Wera tools.
Yup channel locks or knipex fluke for tic tracer fluke t5 clamp meter hand tools klein is ok I'm slowly switching to the German brands good video though keep up the good work
Thanks! Yep, I’m right there with you. Once you go German tools you can’t go back.
hype!
You’re 100% the best hype man. I’m pretty sure I told you that when you helped me move 😂
@@MadElectrician you're too kind...LETS GOOOOO hahahahaha
