I tried to imagine me being you in this video. So weird: I could afford several Rolex watches including a brand new Daytona, which I even consider one of the most beautiful if not THE most beautiful watch on this planet. However, I could just not justify spending my money on it (maybe not yet, I don‘t know). I kind of felt buyer‘s remorse the moment she opened the watch case, like it was my money 😂 Just yesterday I received a Seiko SNZB33J2 from Singapore, which cost me around 170$. And I was even planning that purchase for months. But I do own a Sinn 6068B for 2.500$, so maybe I am not totally wrong in this hobby 😂
Awesome... that's exactly what we hoped for our viewers! I wanted to walk thru it as if you could be in my shoes, so I'm glad you said that! Btw, we love some Seiko's... and so many entry-level and micro brands too. And yes, you're doing just fine with that Sinn... very fine piece 🤌 - Jason
So, in short, why do you hate? They are among the most well made watches in the world. And the AD is what it is. Except for the rumored kick back deals some allegedly do with flipper, the allocation process makes sense…I’d do it. And look, the real “retail market” for Rolex is colored grey. The supply on the grey market is abundant. If you happen to get a piece from an AD, it’s like knowing the beer distributor who gets you your kegs at wholesale vs from the package store. ADs are in fact the wholesale market…listen, Rolex could if they wanted, jack up prices to match the grey market, instantly eliminate that market and take all that profit for themselves…ponderous. Right?
It wouldn't work like that. Rolex needs the secondary in order to prop up the market. The secondary creates the demand at retail. The secondary is trading pieces between each other for the most part, and then a few trickle out into enthusiasts' hands. But what you see, is them just being bought and sold among themselves. The market would crash if Rolex tried to sell all of its pieces at secondary. I would agree, they could jack up very, very specific models. They could probably get away with that. If you've seen my previous videos, then you know I don't "hate". But I do have many gripes. If you haven't watched them, then please check them out. They'll answer your question a lot better than me typing on this keyboard. Thanks for watching and supporting our new channel! - Jason

Congrats Jason for your purchase! I really like Rolex watches, but I hate how Rolex and secondary market are selling them. Most of the used explorer 1 from the 90s and early 2000’s in secondary market are sold about same price as the retail price of the new model and I am like WTF. Now let’s talk about Rolex, every time I went to their boutique they refused to let me try on the explorer because it was out of stock but they didn’t let me try the one in the exhibition glasses. Unlike Tudor, Tudor actually let their customers to try the watch from the exhibition glasses. And here is the insane part. In Tokyo where I live, there is a big department store located in Tokyo station and the 10th floor is a watch/ jewelry floor that’s selling brands like JLC, Tag, IWC, Tudor, Longines… But for some reason Rolex has it’s own boutique on the 2nd floor of the building 😂 typical Rolex want to be separated from others and try to be King.
