You’re right. I just started this hobby this year to have a 100 years old tree is a blessing. I’m in my 70’s so most of my trees that I started will be small when I leave this planet. But I will have fun shaping it in the process. Take care and have a wonderful week.🙏🙏🙏
I just started this hobby too. Unlike my visual art profession (mixed-media using oils/pigment/photography), I feel like working on trees gets my hands, and my creativity i suppose, on to something that will last longer than me (hopefully), and continue to thrive with someone else's hands/creativity. There's something metaphysically palpable, knowing that what i'm working on is almost like working on 'time' itself (again -if my trees survive).
@@vvcv__00 I too am a painter now that I retired from being a graphic designer. Been an amateur photographer for over 40 years . Bonsai is another form of creating. I’m in my 70’s and will not see my trees develop but give me great joy to take nature and create a style based on my imagination.
This is going to be a great tree, it already looks spectacular. It’s surprising to see one that has been in a pot for 30 years!!! Wow!! Really enjoy your content. Cheers
Seeing that tree makes we giddy with wanderlust to head out to the high Sierras and check out my old hunting grounds. I wonder if I still have my old maps. Maybe underneath the bed in that spiderwebed covered box. I tell all my friends to go to your channel. Take care and stay safe.
You’ve got some doubters here so it will be a learning experience for all of us when we see your next episode with this tree. Please share how the cuttings are doing too.
I really appreciate your work, I did not realize that I was familiar with it before knowing this channel, as with my research work, I work with a lot of MKS/Newport devices! I have a question concerning bonsai in a terrarium. I have to say that I quite like terraria, but I did the mistake to start a ficus from a really small growth directly in a terrarium. I realized that the egg-shaped ones are too small to hold one. My question is: do you have such a bonsai in an enclosed environment, and which kind do you recommend to use?
Yes! I am the same Milton that founded Newport and New focus, eventually acquired by MKS. If you insist on a terrarium of a given size, then you have to identify a tree that fits into that size terrarium…You can generalize to ferns/moss and houseplants to fit into the terrarium size glass container.
You went wild with the jins but that’s what you had to do with this tree. I think it looks great and will look even better after filling out next spring.
all opinions are welcome. Please comment when I do the update on this tree about a year from now... Being positive and optimistic is a way to stay healthier and happier! Sorry for the unsolicited advice.
He didn’t hurt or ruin the tree. This will be a respectable tree when done. This tree has had far more care in the care of people than the extremes of nature. You should keep your response respectful when talking to a master.
@@OutsidethePot he might identify as a master, but he’s not a master. He should respect the life of that tree and what it’s been through. Taking off that much foliage could very well kill it.

AMAZING 🌲
thanks!
You see how excied I was.
I like what you have done with this tree it will be spectacular. I'm curious about what you did with the roots? Did you reduce them?
Yes I did...cut off some roots to fit into a 10 gallon squad...And I used sandy loam and compost... so should grow fast.
👍👍 outstanding
Thanks!

wow... Is that the oldest tree in your collection? It's amazing!
Some collected trees are older. This is probably the longest in cultivation...some are close.
@@MiltonChang-ee6rqwhat dose cultivation mean??
after collected from the wild
Can you show your Finish Bonsai...thank you Sir
❤🥰🥰❤

Thank you, I agree!
🥰 beautiful
no way that tree lives
No worries...Juniper is a very strong grower.
Please stay tuned for update t show you how much growth in six months.
It will probably live. But I agree with you from a development point of view this might have been a step back rather than forward.
Man, you ruined the whole tree. How many greens did you cut to get what? The tree is not kept in a pot.
Why are you torturing those plants?
