Well it confirms the old N&N Hospital had Express Lifts, they were the first ever lifts I probably travelled in after birth. Closed a couple of years later.
Nice to see they've included two Singapore installations. The lifts at Grand Hyatt Singapore (3:15) had been modernized by OTIS and then again by KONE, while Ocean Building have sadly been demolished in the late 2000s to make way for Ocean Financial Centre which now has Mitsubishi lifts with DOAS.
The vast majority don’t exist in their original form. Probably 50% are recognisable as modernised Express Lifts, and the other half are fully ripped out and replaced. There are however a few sites in the book I know of which do still have original ones left!
@user-kp6xf4gf7t 1:10 The Metropole Hotel in Birmingham still has an abandoned one which is original. 1:55 Although it’s about the escalators, the Broad Street Mall in Reading still has original Express Lifts in the building. 2:05 The NatWest Tower still has an Express Lift travelling 42 floors. 2:50 The Plymouth Civic Centre had DMR Express Lifts up until recently. 4:40 The John Ratcliffe Hospital still has 3 original Express Lifts. Plus lots of others with modernised Expresses. But those are the only ones I know of which still do or up until very recently had original ones.
