its so hard to type this out but my cat got diagnosed with this just yesterday. my beautiful ragdoll that i’ve created a bond with for a year, out of nowhere isolated herself for two days. we thought she just wanted to chill upstairs but when i noticed she hadn’t eaten i ran to her under the bed. limp. rushed to the ER. ran tests, but couldn’t do much due to lack of funds. took her to the vet the next day. pulled $600 out my ass & this is what she’s diagnosed with. im crying just typing this because i know what’s coming. i cant stand the idea of letting her go but i know she’s in pain. i love her so much

Back when i found out my cats diagnosis, i had shrugged it off because the vet said it was mild and there wasnt much he could do at the time but to just leave it as is and to continue on. Looking back now im glad i did that or i would have been worrying about her everyday and not enjoying her in the moment. Shes almost 5 and still thriving medication free! I know the day will come where it will get the best of her because unfortunately thats what HCM does to our precious kittys. Just enjoy your time with her or you will regret one day that you spent so much of your time worrying. I hope your cat is doing okay now!

If you love your cat don’t give up and put her to sleep. Take her to the emergency with oxygen and medication and get her the supplement she suggested taurine, ubiquinol, l carnitin, arginine. Show her a lot of care and love and keep the cat away from loud people and other pets! In two weeks or more she could get better and live another few years.
It’s such hard experience and decision to make but have a hope good luck. I have two with this problem. Trying my best.

My cat died suddenly today. He let out this blood curdling scream and collapsed. He twitched a bit and despite doing mouth to mouth resuscitation, he died. He was running around playing and completely normal just an hour before. It was so sudden with no warning signs, but his brother died the same way so I believe its a genetic heart disease that caused it 😢

Thank you, my baby girl who is 2 years young was rushed to the emergency vet hospital late last night. One second she was playing the next she was dragging her legs and meowing. We caught it right away and she's being treated but I'm besides myself as they found a heart murmur and the vet told me to be prepared. I can't stop crying for my little furbaby and your video has given me more information and a little hope.

I cried worse than my damn girlfriend who had them since birth. This cat was so special but memories live forever

Miss him like mad. He never showed any sign of ill health. He was cuddled up to be a few hours before, purring. He was an outdoor cat no idea of his breed.

I thought my cats are like dogs when they were breathing with open mouth and thought it was cute… until my cat got a poisoning and I took him to the vet and doctor said that my 11 month old cat had HCM that already progressed to CHF and my cat has about one year to live! Then I looked back on the videos of my cat couple months earlier and saw a breathing of 144 respirations/minute when my cat was relaxed! I never paid attention to it because my cats had otherwise healthy behaviors….watch out for your cats breathing while they’re asleep, it’s should be below 30 respirations a minute

We lost our cat to this dreadful disease one week ago today. He was not even 6 years old. We rescued him in 2012 at the age of 1 1/2 years old. He weighed 3 pounds and was covered in mats and feces from constant diarrhea. He was emaciated and we did not think he would live. We cared for him and had a great cat vet and he was nursed back to somewhat better health. But in November of 2016 we noticed rapid breathing. He saw a cardiologist and was given 4 meds . He had chf, a blood clot, severe scarring, a murmur, and more. We had to say goodbye on January 18th. It was too painful to watch his heart breath at 60 to 70 beats. We worried he would blow his clot. He was a lovable happy boy. We miss him so much

@@stevebanks7165 I am so very sorry to know about your son. I think the loss of a child is most devastating. And there are no words to express sympathy. Though I do not have children, I have no parents. What helped me was going to a grief support group meeting. But because of corona, that is impossible. Perhaps there is someone of good character on You Tube, like a grief therapist that could help. Again, I am so very sorry. Of course taking care of Simba would be hard on your heart. Take care of yourself. You will be OK in time. NOT LIKE BEFORE OF COURSE. But somewhat better.

My cat passed away from this last week im totally devastated. I took him to the vets on the sunday as he had a bit of a funny turn so they scanned his abdomen took a blood test listened to his breathing and heart and said they couldnt find anything wrong. The next day he was fine at home then the day after he was breathing rapidly so i rushed him to the vets again and they did an xray or his chest and an ultrasound which showed fluid around the heart and lungs. He was in a critical way and they said the drug to drain fluid isnt working and its coming out of his mouth and they said they couldnt do anymore.vim devastated. Why wasnt this picked up on the sunday when they listened to his heart and lungs?😭

cat walking ok nxt day. my sis cat died recently, vet said it probably HCM, but I have to wonder if the cat had been biten and misdiagnosed until too late. city vets dont immediately think of bites causing these symptoms, whereas country vets go there first, their practice depends upon it.

Honest Kitchen. Dr Elsey, Steve's real food, Darwin, Dr Mercola Pets also has raw food for sale. Other more common brands, Primal, Stella and Chewy, Tiki raw. You can opt for raw or dehydrated. *Never switch a cats food too suddenly* , slowly add the new food to their regular food and increase over time - adding probiotics can help as well as having a cat have access to wheat grass - you can find this in health stores or grow your own. Other meat/ simple ingredients, brands, Instinct/pride, taste of the wild, tiki, weruva, lotus. Always choose to feed a wet food diet over dry food. Kibble should be avoided. Adding fish/krill oil can help improve their health, or you could occasionally give wild caught sardines in water - bones are a good source of calcium, and omega 3 is needed for blood flow.

My Cat TJ was dignoised with HCM , his hind legs went and had breathing problems, I rushed him to North Shore Vetratinian Hospital and I feel they did not give him a chance and make the decision to put him down without my permission. I asked to see results but only got a written report after seven/eight times calling the hospital. Yes TJ was diagonised with Advanced HCM but he was still breathing and wagged his tail, when I last saw him, He was not on any oxgine machine . I feel they have been unfair and made a decision without consulting me. I have no one to talk to about this .

There are too many cats to care for to leave out the people that can't afford extremely high vet bills. You could start a fund for those poor cats to have vet care if you really cared about the animals welfare though.

My cat, 9 years old, was diagnosed with Dilated cardiomyopathy one week ago, I noticed her breath was fast so I went to the doctor and they diagnosed fluid in her lungs via an x-ray. So they had to do a pleura punctation and got the following medication: Furosemid,Pimobendan and clopidogrel.
She is now laying around the whole day and has lost her appetite, despite the fact that she never lost her appetite before even when she was suffering from fever. I thought that maybe she could have some other disease than dilated cardiomyopathy, an infection or something like this. Can anyone help? I have all the test results, ultrasound and x-ray and could send them via mail. If anyone can help, I'll give her/him a good present.
