  • →Here's the cracker recipe (with my modifications):
Puffed Sourdough Crackers w/Grated Cheese & Herbs
1c all purpose flour (I use bread flour)
    1/2 tsp sea salt
    1/4 tsp garlic powder
    1/4 c sourdough discard
4 Tblsp unsalted butter, cold & cubed (mine was room temp)
8 oz grated cheese (I used parmesan)
2 Tblsp parmesan cheese (yes more parm)
2 Tblsp herbs of choice, I used parsley
3-4 Tblsp cool water, more if needed
Mix ingredients until incorporated, do not overmix. Cover and refrigerate 30 min. Roll out thinly, 1/8 inch or less, cut into desired shape and place on sheet pan about 1/4 inch apart (they do puff up some). Poke hole in center if desired. Bake at 325°F for 15 minutes to start, keep an eye on them if your crackers were cut larger than about 1.5". Mine took about 25 min. They will be puffed up and golden when ready, allow to cool on the pan once removed from the oven and they will puff further. The original instructions say to bake on parchment, I found the crackers that were laid directly on the stoneware were more crisp. Enjoy!!

Put a mirror inside the brooder so he doesn't feel alone until another chick hatches. Lone chicks usually don't do so well. The mirror isn't great, because they eventually figure it out. But it should buy you some time.

Making me hungry, Heather! All the yummies coming from the garden and your animals, just fabulous. We had breakfast, dinner, and dessert too! Hahaha. I'm similar way about peppers, except even mild ones last a super long time for me. So that's the biggest reason I don't eat peppers very much, my mouth is too on fire to taste anything else after. (I do like a spicy, but not crazy hot, chili.) Thanks for sharing how things are coming in the garden, and seeing the boy goats is always nice too. Hopefully some more eggs hatch to keep the one peeper company.

I am going to try staking my zucchini plus I am trying your athletic tape. lol. I had those squash bores so bad last year. After losing several plants I read about them. A little late but I did get a good harvest of zucchini plus I was able to share a lot of them. So far this garden season (northeastern corner of Indiana) I am fighting with the cabbage worm. I have dusted them and picked off the nasty worms, but I have netting over them now. It seems to have helped so far. Got to have my sauerkraut! Have a great week!

Ugh I'm so sorry the cabbage loopers are so discouraging! We like BT for cabbage loopers. Believe it or not allowing wasps to nest near the garden will help too, they'll hunt the loopers right off the plant!

I hear if you get the peppers on your face and it's hot, that milk helps. So, that being said. If you eat a LOT of Hot peppers and find that the special switches that tell you things are hot are effected in the rear of the store, then maybe sitting in a bucket of Milk wouldn't be a bad idea. LOL

Buster is so funny when he gets his treat! Also, not surprised by the heat level of those mystery "Jalapenos" or the ones that weren't supposed to be as hot (I have already forgotten their name). But the omlettes looked delicious, as did the rabbit salad! I've had salads like that where we added chopped pecans or walnuts for additional crunch, and even sometimes quartered grapes. BUT my opinion is the fruit and nuts added change the character of the salad into something that usually needs a sweet relish instead of dill pickle relish because with the dill, it's kind of "too much going on" flavor-wise. A super fun video - will be interested to see how the vetwrap works against any potential vine borer activity.

My family (and my best friends family after trying it at our house) are addicted to farm dust. She had never been to an Amish market and now she makes the drive (about an hour) every 4-6 weeks for their sliced cheese and massive amounts of farm dust lol. It’s amazing on everything. We found it after visiting an Amish store down near mammoth cave last summer. We have a couple very small Amish communities and thus markets in central KY but I wish we had the large ones that you guys have out in the eastern part of the state. I love visiting them and shopping there. We try to make a long day trip out that way once a year just to go shop! Side note; I wish I had your sourdough skills. I am about to give up. I’ve put my started to rest in the fridge, my bread is always way too dense and won’t rise well even though my start was very, very active. I think I need to go somewhere and actually take a hands on class to see what it’s suppose to feel like. 🤦‍♀️
