N Isn't a villain or evil; he just does what he is told is right, but later realizes his wrongdoings. THATS why N is one of my favourite characters from Pokémon.

It just came to me.... None of the enemy teams, except for Team Rocket and Team Flare, actually had the means to achieve what they wanted to achieve.... Team Rocket had a relatively simple goal, so they just needed to be a Team to achieve it, were it not for the player causing Giovanni to disband Team Rocket. Team Flare already HAD the machine they needed before they even started to execute their plan and even would've succeeded if the player wasn't in time to stop it. Team Magma and Team Aqua indeed managed to release the respective pokémon they needed, but they could never control it. Team Galactic also didn't really have full control over the pokémon they needed. Team Plasma simply tried to do the impossible. If the player wouldn't have stopped Team Plasma, someone else would have.
Team Galactic did. They had Spear Pillar, The three lake pokemon and Dialga and Palkia. Cyrus almost succeeded and created the distortion world but the player stopped him.

This also only happened in Platinum, so two out of three say that Cyrus didn't have full control over the Pokémon he needed. In both Gen V games team Plasma actually had the means to do what they wanted and nearly succeeded. In the first game, after N obtains a legendary dragon, people in Opelucid City actually consider releasing their pokemon, due to fact that the Hero said that. More that this, when you arrive at N's castle, in one of the rooms is a bunch of computer equipment and the PC terminal. One of the scientists there explictly states that they hacked into the storage system, so given the order they could release every single pokemon belinging to trainers. Now for the second game. Ghetsis had full control of Kyurem, the only reason they couldn't do as much as they wanted was due to plot shennanigans, to be exact the fact Kyurem was an 'empty shell', after the Legendary Dragon split into Reshiram and Zekrom. They shown what they could do with this in Opelucid, freezing it over with practically unbreakable ice. At the end, when N arrives to stop Ghetsis what happens? He fuses his dragon with Kyurem to create Black/White Kyurem, one that is no longer an empty shell and doesn't have to recharge. If not for the player being right there when it happened, I doubt anyone could stop White/Black Kyurem powered Plasma Frigate.
If they keep the current pattern of game releases up, this is how the game releases should go: 2014: Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire 2015: The sequel of X and Y 2016: Generation 7 (Pokemon Hot and Cold?) 2017: Diamond/Pearl remakes! (maybe Rough Diamond and Smooth Pearl) 2018: Successor to Generation 7 games 2019: Generation 8 (Pokemon Earth and Stone?) 2020: The moment we have all been waiting for, Pokemon Black and White remakes! my top 8 (if you don't agree, tough luck): 1. Ghetsis - this theme screams intimidation, especially in any Nuzlocke I've ever done. 2. N - fits N's personality quite well; that sense of wonder with a slight disturbed, psychotic edge. 3. Colress - this theme doesn't feel like an enemy's theme, but it really works and sound sjust like a scientist's theme should; technological and fast-paced. 4. Maxie/Archie - this theme is a lot more varied than their grunts' theme. it's fast and sounds like a real battle will ensue. Plus maybe inspiration for Ghetsis' theme at the beginning, to go all the way with drums? Prehaps... 5. Lycandre - people are hating on this theme jsut because its a remix of the grunts' theme. It's a great one though, and does sound intimidating at times, but not throughout, as I feel I'm just listennig to the grunt's theme. Despite this, it's still epic enough. 6. Cyrus - hands down, the most intimidating boss. His theme's sadly not as intimidating as he is. Is it a bad theme? Hell no! Just not as epic as I thought it would be. 7. Giovanni - just the Team Rocket theme, that's it. So, yeah...
Archie and Maxie, I would like to see those two again sometime. Them and their trumpets. Cyrus was my favorite boss for a long time, Lysandre has changed that for now. Cyrus just has that "I'm evil and don't give two shits" feel from the first time you met him, yet still carries a sense of formality that many great antagonists have. N... I don't like him too much but he does have a pretty cool theme. He is like a hero manipulated by a higher power that just doesn't know any better right now. Ghestis' first theme, I'm sorry guys but I'm a sucker for those drums. It is a bit less chaotic than his second theme and shows a bit how both he and N were like before they pursued their goals, both of which were to different extremes. Ghestis in BW2 was pure insanity and you can hear that with his theme. A bit too weird for me, but to each his own. Colriess would have made a better villain this generation, he just seems like someone who would have been able to easily beat Ghestis. Lysandre... He knows what he is doing is wrong but is willing to sacrifice so many beings for his world, like what AZ did, but is obviously not ready to accept those consequences. He simply strives to achieve his goal no matter what the cost will be.
Colriss was my favourite by far. The story behind him is ok, but I just LOVE his battle theme. XD its a shame his team is destroyed by any ground type :/
See, my favourite is still Giovanni. He had that smooth, bond-esque villain theme, was responsible for the creation of Mewtwo and managed to be a corrupt Gym Leader right under the Elite Fours nose. That's not even getting into what he's like in the Manga. Perhaps my favourite part about him is that his goals are realistic and believable: no rebuilding the world/space/time/oceans/landmasses whatever. Just using Pokemon for profit and to (probably) conquer Kanto

Colress has to have the oddest tune for a main villain in the entire series, yet it's both freakishly fitting, yet also incredibly awesome. Not as good as N's overall, but it really fits his personality too. Can't really ever see Colress as a true villain compared to the majority of the Team Leaders of the series, he's just too outlandish in comparison and doesn't really have an evil or negative feel to him.

Am I the only one who hears the ticking clock in the background of Lysandre's theme? It sounds like the ticking of a countdown to doomsday. Fitting considering what he was trying to accomplish. Very creepy yet cool touch to the theme.
Lysandre's theme *in my opinion* is the weakest and most unoriginal. Seriously Gamefreak?! The team leader, the MAIN BAD GUY'S THEME is just a remix of the grunt theme! Gamefreak, you can do better than this! But, to each their own, I guess....
Y'know, I personally think Colress is the best villain. Why? Maxie and Archie were super cool and all, but they kinda softened down in ORAS. Cyrus was just another unoriginal villain, wanting to destroy this world/universe and make a 'better' one. N wasn't that much of a villain, and neither was Colress. They were like, anti-heroes. That's why I like this, the anti-heroes are always the best villains. Just look at Meta Knight. Half of the time he's trying to kill Kirby, and the other half he's helping him. but when Meta Knight is the main villain, he's a great villain. So, N and Colress are in my opinion, the best Pokemon villains up to date. And people need to stop shitting on Gen 5. Gen 5 was great. Elliot Beach Are you kidding his plot was to rid the earth of selfish humans that pollute the earth with their bad actions which you could say hold relevance to the real world and his team was their to make sure everything went according to plan. He wanted for a more beautiful and peaceful world were their were no more wars. That is an awesome plot if you ask me.
The technology improvements to create all of these songs is incredible. Listen to Lysandre's theme. Then listen to Archie's/Maxie's. Its so crude and tinny. That stuff blows your mind.
When people used to put the evil group names together to make "GRAMP," (Galactic, Rocket, Aqua, Magma, Plasma) they really thought a team that began with "S" would be in X and Y. But the truth is, it had already happened. Snagem.
To be honest, only 3 antagonists really intimidated me. The first was Cyrus, cause oh man he was SO close to actually accomplishing his goal (in Platinum at least) and he just didn't give a single fuck about killing everything in the goddamned multiverse. N, because he was so passionate about what he said and that he truly believed that what he was doing was the right thing. Sometimes an ignorant child can be scarier than an aware adult. And the last would be B2/W2 Ghetsis. He was an insane fucker, holy shit, like he froze the entirety of Opelucid City over JUST TO PROVE A POINT. If that was proving a point, I don't want to see what the final step of his plan was.
Ghetsis is actually my favourite pokemon villain. Like he's actually a villain. Giovanni is more of a mob boss, maxie and Archie r more like green peace, Lysander is just effing crazy and colress is a pretty good guy just fighting for the bad guys (same with n). Ghetsis and Cyrus r the only bosses who r actually malicious and evil. Cyrus wants to recreate the universe so he rules and no one has emotions, and ghetsis is a really vicious cruel and manipulative monster who wants to rule everything with an iron fist. And in b2/w2 he wants to freeze the world! Plus he's music is so badass and intense. It really feels like a battle for the world. It's like the pokemon version of duel of fates from Star Wars (the only good thing about the prequels).
Gen 3's trumpet use is undeniable, and it goes well in the legendary theme too. I also really like Ghetsis' themes-second one's a bit more fun, but the first has a nice buildup.
Lysandere's theme gives out the feeling your up against a really corrupted and evil person, with a hint of him being mentally unstable. which he is, some what.
I think Ghetsis from B/W1 was the best one out of this. You don't fuck around with someone with that type of music. Lysandre's is good too, but Team Flare as a whole was just a lazy idea imo

Chris Sanding Lay off Vanilluxe! it's probably my favourite ice type and it's leagues above the other Unova ice types Beartic and Cyroganol. I like all three, but Vanilluxe kicks ass and takes names
Cyrus' theme...reminded me the hard time he was giving me. Well yeah, maybe insisting on bringing your favourite Pokémon in exchange of some other who could resist his team wasn't the best choice... Also N's battle theme reminded me that while battling him I wished that I can smack some sense to the poor guy
Does the beginning of Colress's them imply he's an alien or something? He does have an unusual frill coming out of his head and is extremely smart and is probably responsible for Team Plasma's ship being able to fly...
Lysandre's theme isn't bad. It's actually pretty great. Sure it's a remix, so what? If there's anything that Cyrus proved is that a good remix is much better than an original lame theme. At least give this track some credit for being one of the few good ones in X and Y......

I remember how Ghetsis almost beated the hell out of me in my Pokémon Black Nuzlocke >.< Hell, I was left with a level 50 3 HP Darmanitan after the battle. God, it's a good thing that for me the "Nuzlocke mode" ends when you become a champ, if not, I wouldn't had pretty much all of my team for those games >.
a few hours before writing this comment on pearl (I ordered it for pal park for transition of my old gen 3 stuff to gen 6) I knocked out cyrus, his team were all at least 9levels above my empoleon which I just evolved and was my strongest mon at 36. with hopelessly outmatched and underlevelled team I beat him. mars and Jupiter before him and palkia especially was tougher than him. what a anti climatic boss I didn't lose any of my party. il be honest lysandre was a pushover too, so easy to overlevel in X & Y

Colress has to have the oddest tune for a main villain in the entire series, yet it's both freakishly fitting, yet also incredibly awesome. Not as good as N's overall, but it really fits his personality too. Can't really ever see Colress as a true villain compared to the majority of the Team Leaders of the series, he's just too outlandish in comparison and doesn't really have an evil or negative feel to him.

Colress's theme is amazing (especially with headphones) it's standard adventurous tone in the beginning to it's dark interludes in the middle and eventually to its upbeat major key inflections in the end. ahhhh
Don't know why but black and white 1 team plasma has to be my favorite team as they were developed appeared enough and tied in well with the main storyline.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm feeling all these themes. I think they each suit the villain very well. Especially Cyrus and Ghetsis's themes. Hot damn.

Am I the only one who hears the ticking clock in the background of Lysandre's theme? It sounds like the ticking of a countdown to doomsday. Fitting considering what he was trying to accomplish. Very creepy yet cool touch to the theme.

Lysandre's theme *in my opinion* is the weakest and most unoriginal. Seriously Gamefreak?! The team leader, the MAIN BAD GUY'S THEME is just a remix of the grunt theme! Gamefreak, you can do better than this!
But, to each their own, I guess....

Y'know, I personally think Colress is the best villain. Why? Maxie and Archie were super cool and all, but they kinda softened down in ORAS. Cyrus was just another unoriginal villain, wanting to destroy this world/universe and make a 'better' one. N wasn't that much of a villain, and neither was Colress. They were like, anti-heroes. That's why I like this, the anti-heroes are always the best villains. Just look at Meta Knight. Half of the time he's trying to kill Kirby, and the other half he's helping him. but when Meta Knight is the main villain, he's a great villain. So, N and Colress are in my opinion, the best Pokemon villains up to date. And people need to stop shitting on Gen 5. Gen 5 was great. The legendaries were awesome, but Ghetsis was that stupid unoriginal villain who wanted to *sigh* take over the world. The rivals were awesome, and although Tepig wasn't a great starter... Oshawott and Snivy made up for it. The Team Leaders were actually challenging this time, not completely unfair, and not completely fair either. Gen 5 also had the best characters. In my personal opinion, Lysandre had good characteristics for a bad guy, but his plot and his team were terrible

He wanted for a more beautiful and peaceful world were their were no more wars. That is an awesome plot if you ask me.
The technology improvements to create all of these songs is incredible. Listen to Lysandre's theme. Then listen to Archie's/Maxie's. Its so crude and tinny.

I havent seen any good comments on archie and maxie's themes, so, i'll just say that I thought theirs were and still are the best.
U forgot the Team Rocket theme's from Pokemon Blue, Red, Silver, Gold, Crystal, Leaf Green, Heart Gold and Soul silver.
From gold and silver up yes, but in the original, they didn't have a theme, it was just the general trainer theme
In RBY Rockets used Trainers Theme.
In GSC/HGSS the leaders didn't have a theme.

To be honest, only 3 antagonists really intimidated me. The first was Cyrus, cause oh man he was SO close to actually accomplishing his goal (in Platinum at least) and he just didn't give a single fuck about killing everything in the goddamned multiverse. N, because he was so passionate about what he said and that he truly believed that what he was doing was the right thing. Sometimes an ignorant child can be scarier than an aware adult. And the last would be B2/W2 Ghetsis. He was an insane fucker, holy shit, like he froze the entirety of Opelucid City over JUST TO PROVE A POINT. If that was proving a point, I don't want to see what the final step of his plan was.

N 'obviously' has the best theme. Really, truly honestly in a no biased way, his theme dwarfs the others in such a grandstanding way.
Ghestis' theme is really indescribable... I like its tone a lot... It really feels like a final battle to me.
Ghetsis is actually my favourite pokemon villain. Like he's actually a villain. Giovanni is more of a mob boss, maxie and Archie r more like green peace, Lysander is just effing crazy and colress is a pretty good guy just fighting for the bad guys (same with n). Ghetsis and Cyrus r the only bosses who r actually malicious and evil. Cyrus wants to recreate the universe so he rules and no one has emotions, and ghetsis is a really vicious cruel and manipulative monster who wants to rule everything with an iron fist. And in b2/w2 he wants to freeze the world! Plus he's music is so badass and intense. It really feels like a battle for the world. It's like the pokemon version of duel of fates from Star Wars (the only good thing about the prequels).
Cyrus, Ghestsis (B2/W2), Lysandre and N are all awesome
Gen 3's trumpet use is undeniable, and it goes well in the legendary theme too. I also really like Ghetsis' themes-second one's a bit more fun, but the first has a nice buildup.

To be honest, I hated Team Flare. They had way too little appearances, and their plans weren't clear until the end. Plus, they just didn't seem motivated enough to be an actual evil team. They just put forth so little effort to stop you. I hated that. AND their hideout location was just too OBVIOUS!

I think Pokemon Platinum was best. It had many improvements and has this really nice nostalgic feel to me whenever I go back and play it.

I remember how Ghetsis almost beated the hell out of me in my Pokémon Black Nuzlocke >.< Hell, I was left with a level 50 3 HP Darmanitan after the battle. God, it's a good thing that for me the "Nuzlocke mode" ends when you become a champ, if not, I wouldn't had pretty much all of my team for those games >.

a few hours before writing this comment on pearl (I ordered it for pal park for transition of my old gen 3 stuff to gen 6) I knocked out cyrus, his team were all at least 9levels above my empoleon which I just evolved and was my strongest mon at 36. with hopelessly outmatched and underlevelled team I beat him. mars and Jupiter before him and palkia especially was tougher than him. what a anti climatic boss I didn't lose any of my party.
il be honest lysandre was a pushover too, so easy to overlevel in X & Y
