  • As a minimalist traveler who lives out of a carry-on sized backpack, putting together a capsule wardrobe was a huge step forward for me. But for a long time I struggled with not having a dedicated space for the things I don't need right now. After all, I don’t own an apartment or a closet anymore. But I live in a country with four seasons and travel to exotic destinations, so I needed several different types of clothes. In this video, I talk a bit about how I organize my capsule wardrobe for travel and for everyday life and how it has changed my life for the better by making me feel organized and clutter-free :)

I’m working on a capsule wardrobe right now. We have four seasons where I live but we also have days of other seasons interspersed randomly. So there are days in the middle of winter, for instance where you don’t need more than a shirt. And there are days in the summer that get a little chilly and I might pull back out a sweater. So I keep all my clothes in my closet so that everything is accessible. Right now what I’m working on is paring down to just the things I actually wear. I hear you are having things that it would break your heart to let go of. I picked up a gorgeous pair of leather heels in Italy on my honeymoon 8 years ago. The problem is, I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I’m just not comfortable in heels. I wore them to my son’s wedding in October and regretted it about 15 minutes after I put them on. So I finally put them in the donate bag this week. I’m not going to lie, I choked up a little when I did.

Eine Idee für ein Video wäre, das Tragen von Schichten zum Wärmen bei Kälte zu demonstrieren.

Hi Maggi, your videos are so lovely to watch. You're always calm, your voice is easy to listen to and you're likable! It makes such a difference as I've watched many packing/travel videos that feel chaotic and stressful. Thank you for sharing your tips and your travel advice. I hope your next adventure is fantastic :)

I really love this, thank you so much for sharing Maggi! I'm definitely going to try this :) I feel like I always struggle with capsule wardrobes as I tend to overcomplicate everything! I'm observing more of what clothes I actually wear and it is very few, so those packing cubes will help me keep organised seasonally but items are still within reach! Hurrah! We can go through many different temperatures in a week here in England so thank you for your help and inspiration :)

Great video, Maggi! I absolutely love the concept of utilising an unused suitcase for storage. Wishing you all the best!

I agree, I really enjoy it because it is easy to carry up and down from the attic and I can easily find all my things in there. Much more practical than a closet. 😉

Another great video! Love organizing. I love when things have homes. I try not to have too many clothes, but I definitely have more than you. I do use capsules - yes- & have work/farm clothes & then daily wear & workout & lounge/pajamas. Sweaters, coats & shoes & boots… and once a year or so we have a sort thru and that helps to keep things we like & use. I do have a small pile of things I keep too. I switch out jackets & keep off season ones in our storage room. It works altho .. I am still tweaking it and it changes each time we do a sorting thru 🤷🏼‍♀️ It makes packing easier when the system is more streamlined!

I have WAY too many clothes. Not sure I’ll ever be able to downsize substantially. 😳
