Respectfully done Adam & Thanks for showing these interesting, sometimes historical hidden nether regions of your country
Strickland & Peek Cemetery, Established 1853, population ELEVEN:
Six are listed as unknown.
The five known consist of:
• Two Confederate Army Soldiers---one, David T Peek, served & died (age 26) as a CAPTAIN in the Civil War.
K Strickland was the other soldier who survived the war and died in his 50's.
• Simeon & Mitilda Strickland were husband & wife.
They had nine children - 3 daughters, 6 sons - one son (Russell Glen Strickland b. Jun 29 183? died in the Civil War Battle of Cold Harbor, Virginia. Matilda died at 32 & Simeon at 52.
• Thomas A Strickland (perhaps their son?) was only 23 years old when he died.
The inscriptions on the graves are mostly not legible, the information is documented in Cobb County's official archives.
wow they died so young.. so sad tho :(
+Abandoned UK Nicely done, thanx for the info.
Your research is greatly appreciated.
This Cemetery fills my heart with sadness. such a disrespectful thing for people to do by building a mall around a cemetery, you were right when you said one day the mall shall be gone. then and only then will their bodies be allowed to really Rest In Peace
I think it would be even ruder if they moved them. Might have had a hard time to find relatives you just never know. X
Am I the only one that wants to fix this grave yard up?
i know this is years ago adam . i am trying to get though them day to day . i do love your vlogs they make my day .cuz im going though a hard time at min and they put a smile back on my face . thank you adam love hayley xxx
This is weird!!! There has to be some haunts in those stores. Thanks for sharing 😄
I love right down the street from this location.
HR block? Those poor souls couldn't avoid taxes even in death.....
No one does. Someone still has to do your taxes for the year you die.
Found the last sticker at Hawthorne Plaza, you was really out in the "sticks"
Alan
Just saw this video. Thank you for taking the time to do it. I've seen a lot of cemeteries on RUclips, but I this this is the most unique. I've never seen them build a shopping center right around a graveyard like this!
Thank you Adam for making us aware of this grave sight. How very sad it is between to shops. The original developers should be ashamed of themselves! Money before respect. Especially military men who fought for our freedom.
Since the daily woo is no longer daily ive been enjoying the archive man O man there are some great ones here im gonna be busy......thanks for your videos Adam there inspirational to other vloggers and to get people out and exploring
Ahh, That shopping must have been built AFTER the property developer saw Poltergeist.
Great video Adam I just love all the neat and interesting things you find and bring to the table of entertainment! Great channel and have a safe trip home for the holidays! Thanks for doing these vlogs everyday I always look forward to seeing your next location!
No words 🙄
Catching up on your older clips Adam...love em !! 🇬🇧
Thank You...gone but not forgotten.
They say to speak the name of the dead.. and the dead live on. I'm sure David Peek would never have imagined that his name & memory would be evoked 160 years after his death.
A strange place for a Cemetery, but at least it was not bulldozed and is still shown respect.
I appreciate your politeness, to people. and your bold adventure nature
It's funny how everything has "The Nether Regions" LOL!
My car bumper needs a "Woo" Sticker on its Nether Regions!
And it goes without saying that I'd love to be buried on the back side (no punn) of a shopping center! YIKES! The poor folk - may they rest in peace... Thanks Adam for being respectful.
Holy Crap, I'm from the neighboring city to Mableton (Austell), and I used to go to this strip mall (Hawthorne Plaza) often as a teenager, many years ago; I never knew there was a cemetery there. Back in the late '70s and early '80s, there was a lot going on at Hawthorne. My friends and I used to get all of our concert tickets from Turtles Records & Tapes there. There was a game room called Time Zone, an A&P grocery store along with a furniture store, and other thriving businesses at the time. Mableton is run down now, but it was once a nice environment. I'm blown away that there is a cemetery there, and that I never saw it.
its Ironic how similar those old shopping centers from the early 1960s look, even more ironic still is theres one in mid town Memphis Tn. and it has a cemetary as well. That location in Ga. looks really lonesome, but thats Ga. and every other state its sad.
This reminds me of when I stayed at a campground that had a cemetery in it.
Adam you should do dual vlogs with your Dad on Thanksgiving
Nothing less than fascinating , the determination of sprawl knows no end .Long live the cemetery , & may the mall fall into the "nether - regions ".
Very well done sir. Thank you for including us in this. If you go home for Thanksgiving please try to include us in some sort of your day and perhaps tell us all the goodies you will have. By!
When the deceased were interred, I'll bet that those graves had markers with names. It must take a very special type of dirt bag to uproot such things and cart them off.
I admire your thinking over past and to day
Adam, In this video, it looks like you are at an outdoor strip mall in Mableton, Ga. Just outside of Atlanta. I recognize it, because of the O'Reilly's auto parts store. Because I have been in that store before. At least it looks like one I have been into.
Your a really great guy showing respect for those people. That's why I like watching you. The internet is good because of you. That's sad those people are buried there 😢.
Ok this is why I love you so much. You take me places I would find interesting. Thank you so much.
death and taxes you cover them both in this video I lived in Cobb County in the mid-seventies in a little town called Smyrna Georgia
Mableton, GA... Donnie beat me to it.
Wonderful vlog! I never saw gravesites like this until now with piles of stones on each grave. Awesome find, Adam. And toward the end it finally clicked in my little brain why you buried you're stickers in those lava stones. Lol
I was told once that any and all military graves were suppose to be under some division of the military that was in charge of taking care of them no matter where the grave was - don't remember the name of the division who does it but the information is out there - and if you find a military grave that is not taken care of no matter where that grave is this division will send someone to mow and take care of it
thank you for the vlog tha was awesome may thay rest in peace mr, adamthewoo
That cemetery was designated to the people who shopped there consistently.
There is a cemetery in a home depot parking lot in NY you should check out!
Have a blessed day. Be careful and safe. Like your blogs
So probably, the Strickland family owned the property where they were buried. The others may have been servants or ranch hands. Of course this is just a guess, I am not one hundred percent sure. Its a small cemetery. So usually that indicates it was on the families property. The infantry may have been a husband of one of the Strickland daughters. Forgive me if I am misspelling the names.
I really liked your video on the shopping center cemetery. I was looking at Google maps of a 2018 or 19 view and it looks like the graves have been removed and it's on just a open area. Ou bye the way they are building a new shopping center here in Jacksonville, FL and it will have a cemetery in it.
Adam, you found a very interesting place. How odd. Love you. Thanks.
Thank you, Adam for giving us the opportunity to see unique and interesting, and in some cases uniquely interesting locations across our great nation from the comfort of our properly heated homes. This incredibly haunted cemetery would fall under the latter description. They do not sound happy that you are there. They even are wishing you die sooner rather than later. Maybe they had a really nice house on the property back in the 1800's and are extremely pissed off that there's a run down mall there now instead. I noticed that the EVPs I posted below can be barely heard without headphones,so for those that are interested, please listen with headphones. You can hear them so much better with them on. Sometimes what you hear is really quite funny. Sometimes what you hear is fascinating. Like the Bonnie and Clyde videos.
Tastefully handled and well done, also much enjoyed!
Adam if you are ever in PA? There are around 12 locations I would join you on them. Centralia, Hyner View, Gettysburg, Yorks 7 gates, Harrisburg State Asylum and many more.
Bladen Rexroth there are alot of crazy places in Pennsylvania
hi, so sad, that place, thanks for opening up minds! have a good day. so much to see.
The piled graves actually were destroyed by vandals/tress/etc. They all were buried in elevated tombs as you can see by looking at the intact ones,
Thanks for the vid. Such an unusual spot to keep a cemetery.
Use to have Turtle records store there in the 70's
It's not where's Waldo it's where's the Woo.
Amazing how many cemeteries are in malls. Palisades mall in nyack, ny, Rotterdam mall near Albany. Yeesh
Great work Adam. Well done and God Bless.
Thanks for this cool discovery!
When will you film Mt. Mora Cemetery up in Nyack NY; the entire Nyack Mall surrounds the cemetery (a wonderful history for why) -you must enter the mall to enter the graveyard!! A much larger cemetery....large - large !! GREAT STUFF-enjoying your films!!
Excellent really enjoyed the video cheers.
I want an autographed Adam the woo sticker
adam if your in northeast or up north sometime there is a abandon old milk factory that closed back in early 2000s you should check it out its huge its in canton mass if you want to check it out I will give you address it be great see a video of it from you love what you do great job adam :)
OMG....I "thought" that looked familiar !!! Mabelton, GA. The same town that I drove around in for about an hour trying to find Red Cross's Distribution Center in Douglasville over a year and 1/2 ago. There is one street there where you can see the backside of an abandoned rollercoaster @ Six Flags. Stay in the daylight. You're in sketchy territory friend.
Very possible....seems the colors were like yellow and red maybe ? Just a loop you see rising up in front of you as you come to a crosssection in the road....
A grave in the middle of a mall? Wow, I really like this.
Thanks for sharing! Love your videos! I'm a new fan!
There's a cemetery here in Irving that's in the median between a highway and the frontage road.
Uh-huh.
It's closest to Valley View & 183, across from the Whataburger.
HI Adam , Loved the vlog blog as always.I hope to some day be able to meet you in person :-)
Mableton ga. I delivered bread to this plaza in the 70's never knew that
Very cool video! Thank you
Great video Adam
Love your videos!
Adam. You are in Mableton, Ga. Which is in Cobb County.
Adam - at any moment were you tempted to mention the film 'Dawn of the Dead'?
The city name is mableton,Ga I grew up there
What's with the US and failing or abandoned malls? I've never seen such a thing in Australia, then again, we don't have Walmart here.
I live in Virginia, I've seen a number of small cemeteries like this that have been built up around recently in shopping centers although they have been more respectfully displayed usually in part of the parking areas with a new iron fence around and well maintained. There is one near me that was totally over grown and forgotten till the developer came and cleared the land, the markers are set up with manicured bushes around and a pond behind, a beautiful presentation. I drive past them whenever I go to the Lowe's... They should open up the front of that building so the graves can be seen from the front, it's a shame to see Confederate soldiers graves covered up like this.
You are in Mableton Georgia.
Should put flowers there xxx🇦🇺
This is so disrespectful! No respect for the dead with these people! Shows how they only care about money.
Thank you for sharing Adam.
Well the queen Victoria market in Melbourne Victoria Australia its car park is built on the old cemetery be live it or not and thousands of people walk over it each day not knowing !!!
The suburbs of Atlanta???? I hardly can even fin Atlanta on my Google maps, tremendous important city, you must be in MONW (Middle Of No Where)
Great video! Hopefully it will bring attention to this little plot of history. Maybe a new generation of Scouts could take charge in looking after this cemetery.
I know is a really old video here but I’m just seeing it and you are in Mableton I believe
This plaza is in Mableton Georgia.
The store that I work at has a cemetery at our back door.
Found it on Google Maps under Hawthorn Plaza in Mableton, GA. Now that is Weird U.S.
Do it Mr. Peterson! YES!!
My brother lives in the outskirts of Atlanta in Mcdonach Ga.
Been There! In reality, I've been by there and right down the road near Six Flags, There was/is an old men's shirt plant!
That grave yard is Beautiful . Rip
Good Ol' Mableton, GA
Kinda wanting to go out there now to see if the stickers are still there and not ruined
Wow that's a very unusual place for a cemetery Adam lol but you wanna really know a very unusual place for one ? is a strip club! That's right a cemetery next door to a strip club in my neighborhood there is a 200 year old cemetery and it's in the middle of a rotary like dead smack! In the middle of traffic it's not at all peaceful and on top of that! It's next door to a strip club hahaha how insane is that!
Why don't you do a daily vlog of you doing your laundry.
I think the nether regions of your shorts need some TLC
Thanks Woo
Hey, Thrifters rock!
your so brave!
I believe that the word festooned has been used improperly here and elsewhere and also before now in other videos.
I know two david peaks they live here in the nether regions of east tn.
I've been to the mall there in Cobb county but I never knew there is a cemetery there. Maybe it's a cemetery for some confederate soldiers.
how disrespectful..those poor souls..
This was probably there property. Didn't hear you mention that. sorry if you did.
Very interesting Adam! There is a great tune on creative commons titled "See You Tomorrow". Check it out!
So incredibly disrespectful to the people in that cemetery. They should have never been allowed to build the shopping center.
Is that the entire lot of people?
I'd love to see a video, of the Woo Clan (They ain't nothing to f*** with)together.
Your twitter account isnt there anymore its been closed
is this a mal of the dead not a dead mall
