last year there were not cheap replacement lights available, just the 600 dollar OEMs. Amazon now sells cheap replacements for 80 to 90 bucks that are prefect matches. I have one I got for free (as a reviewer) and I swapped out the one I had fixed using a similar method. Remember flux is your friend when soldering.
The solder tends to crack with the vibrations of the truck over time - -Mine is working for now but I do not expect a perm fix . To close I use a layer of tape then silicone every thing in for the seal. The tape helps me undo the seal when the new solder cracks and I have to redo the fix. Ive been checking the aftermarket stuff and they are down to about 135 each. Might save a moving violation ticket as there is no driver alert when the lights fail
I had to remove the shiny finish off the metal (Dremel w a grinding tip) to get the solder to stick. Otherwise it rolled off without forming a strong bond.
This unfortunately is not a permanent repair, I did this to mine about 5 months ago and they went out again about 1 week from each other. I ended up buying a rebuilt pair off eBay from a seller called "Taillight Rescue", they sell them individually too and they fix them correctly with a board overlay correcting the failure issue permanently. One less thing I need to worry about on my Yukon.

Sorry for the late response but best advice I got is be very patient it is a lot of small expensive parts that can break. It takes time by is doable

Re do the soder and make sure you only attach the two smaller bridged pieces.
