This is the type of aikido where the nage’s jobs is simply “throw with 110% power”, and the uke’s job is simply “survive” .. this is the essence of aikido at a high level I think.

Really great to watch in movies, and demonstrations. Just isn't consinsistent with reality.

I tried telling them this but they get butt hurt. At this point, aikido is universally seen as exercise, at best.

Im a 4th degree in Karate that is learning Japanese Jujitsu now. I find a lot of Akido techniques that work on real situations. Finger locks, wrist locks, takedowns. Now how you put it all together is the puzzle. I use Karate to make it all work. Atemi then Aki. It works. Taisabaki, Atemi, Aki.
My good friend is a boxer and love Aikido. Uses boxing then Aki it works for him. But most of you keyboard warriors don't know crap just write about stuff you never done.

Thank you for your input brother. And I like your thoughts on how to put it together, the taisabaki from aikido is great to mix with other styles as well. All about having differant tools in the tool box and using them cofferctly in variouse contexts.

@@patrickrichard5948 Yes, myself! I don't have to prove anything other than to people I've worked with. Most people I encounter on the web have zero understand of combat or real violence as well. If aikido works, well It's almost like asking, does meditation work. And for a warrior Zen is Key. Have a good day.

Still, the aikido haters come out after seeing this. What one style is perfectly unbeatable? We all do know MMA is NOT a fight, it's a rules based sport/competition. I think you do whatever it takes to end the situation as fast as possible. As an example, once a bigger guy football tackled me - my big fear is to have someone like that on top of me. We were literally flying through the air but it was in slow motion, so I grabbed the meaty/nervy side of his neck and pinched my fingers together - it was over before we hit the ground but I gave a nice finger jab to the throat to make sure. Both got up and no one was "hurt". I could argue that I could've done a kaiten nage to roll him or crunch him. Another time me and a friend were challenging each other's strength full force grabbing and jockeying for position - neither of us were getting anywhere so I went loose, raised my arms over my head, off balanced him and pulled him right over me effortlessly. I am a fan of aikido - the timing, positioning, locks, throws, will work with the right intent and execution. It cracks me up when I see real life fights with guys bouncing around like they are Muhammad Ali or grappling and jockeying for position like they are in the octagon. I must say I think ki is pure baloney. Well, that's my opinion - don't rough me up too much😁👍

Where can I learn this real aikido instead of today's twisty wristy crap?
