  • The 1985 Buick 231 3.8L V6 with only 110 HP had to go. It was VERY clear after daily driving this car that the powertrain was not up to the standards of modern cars. With a 0-50 MPH in 14 seconds, it was very hard and dangerous to get to speed entering onramps to expressways without slowing down traffic behind me. 50MPH - 60MPH was another 10 seconds, unacceptable in today's standards especially if you have to overtake/pass someone.
    I had people in the local car community(which is one of the best communities ever) help me source local used parts and got myself together a very reliable SBC for daily driving. It's not the best on gas, but it moves when it needs to and has no problem getting to speed. Motorwerks up in Mamaroneck did the engine swap for me, a great shop all around. They also custom fabricated me a true dual racing exhaust that is turned down and has a nice growl.
