This just reminds me of how much of women's gymnastics is "Hurl yourself at an immovable object that could cripple you, but do it just right and you do something awesome" I started gymnastics at the age of 3 in the 80's. I use to do so many of those stunts.
I mean, that's all gymnastics.
Ditto!
Despite it being my best event, I broke my ankle on a stupid low beam on April Fool's Day, (low key glad I was so low to the ground). Everyone thought I was joking at first until my outer ankle became the size of a softball.
While waiting for an ambulance my teammate fell off the bars and broke her arm.
Needless to say practice was canceled that day.
@@monicabang_ oh yea, it was a jinxed day. I broke so many bones doing gymnastics.
You can still do a somersault tell me you can still do that. I've always wanted to do that
@@starspangledhiker Yes, But Men's gymnastics is also a lot of "Do this and see how long it takes for your shoulder to get wrecked."
You’re forgetting that those 5 back walkovers at the beginning require that your hands land ON THE BAR not to each side of it or you’ll face plant!
Exactly!
I as coming here to say the same thing. Their hands never touched the “bar”. Try again guys. Lmao
Yeah, I mean I get why guys wouldn’t try it on the raised beam itself, but why not set a bar directly on the ground so we can see their balance and whether they hold it properly without requiring that they risk their ‘family jewels’?
01:38 And the 2nd and 4th ones in the series don’t use hands at all.
Yeah, that’s why I don’t understand the point of this video…. How is doing these backhand springs on a line attempting the beam skill? This is a joke. They can do a single backflip into the foam, at best
It's funny to watch them be so pleased with those quad flicks while their hands aren't even in the same zip code as the beam 😂
I admit I enjoy seeing how difficult some of these skills are for male gymnasts. Female gymnastics is as skilled as men's with its own unique challenges. Keep on swinging boy, it's a joy to watch.
@phantagirlableput them side by side with the women and the men doing the womens skills look like children
@phantagirlableThe key here is little girls compared to grown men with excellent control over their bodies.
@phantagirlable there's a reason that men don't do beam and women don't do rings. Men are not as good at balance and they aren't as flexible. Women have wider hips and a lower center of gravity, which makes them better at balancing. They also have more flexibility in their backs generally and can therefore do all those walkovers, etc., on beam. I can barely imagine men seriously doing beam work. It would look much different than women, even if they started at a young age. There would be a lot more arm strength moves and no walkovers, wolf turns, and things like that. And even if women started doing rings at 3 years old, they would never be able to do those crazy arm strength things men do on rings. The p bars and pommel horse would also not be suited for women's strength, which is in the legs.
Overall, men are obviously much stronger than women. I read that the average man has arm strength SIX TIMES that of an average woman. It's easy to see when you watch the floor routine differences. Men are just so incredibly strong, but again they do not show the flexibility in their routines on floor. They also don't do balance skills on floor like the ubiquitous wolf turns (on beam and floor) that women do.
@@vangu2918the way you say little girls as if I should be any less impressed by their abilities.
The focus on different skills/fitness attributes. Men focus very much more on balance and strength
I wish that there was a special section at the Olympics where the gymnasts could do their routines into/ over foam pits so that they could still perform some of the more batshit dangerous routines with less actual danger involved. Just a special extra portion of the competition where sticking the landing doesn't matter, just the skills you perform, so that we could see all the crazy stuff that only gets banned due to physics being mean when you hit the ground lol.
I'm pretty sure there are videos of athletes going crazy in the practice gym, just like these lovely dorks 😂
It'd be rad if vault would let you do a skill out of your vault to use up that inertia. That sideways vault into a handspring for the stick or something would be rad!
Another fun video!
The reason the women’s gymnast was able to do the front into the arabesque is because she is doing an aerial walkover, which naturally lands on one leg, instead of a front tuck, which puts you into position to land on two legs. Try it with the aerial walkover and see if you have more success.
When you do beam tricks on the tape on the mat, I would like to see you do them with your hands on the “beam” as well as your feet. It would be more authentic and give you a closer experience to how the trick works and feels. If you feel comfortable doing so on some of the less dangerous skills, I would enjoy seeing you trying some things on the low practice beam, even the wide one, for an even closer test of the tricks. It does change things having it be an actual beam as opposed to a tape “beam” in the floor.
You need back flexibility for that 😅
@@charitybosua lol Very true! Another thing they would benefit from working on
Same!
😁😄😂😅😆😆😆🙄😫😤😭🤕
"[Inaudible Yorkshire]" was the most relatable thing I've seen all day, and I'm not even from Yorkshire 😂
Came to say the same 😂
"Lukes" is my new favorite form of measurement. Imperial or metric can kick rocks.
The "double cat leap" is a single axle in figure skating - just an FYI ❤
I was wondering why no one tried it. He said it wasn’t banned just not done. Hmm 🤔
Came here to say this
@@amesappreciated5823 maybe it's not worth much. The scale is not banned either but the rules now say the athlete must be in full arabesque to get credit and pretty much no one can do that. I don't even think that's a safety reason, I think it's just, like stag jumps on floor, people were adding them on too much for extra points.
Remember Olga Korbut didn’t have such a bouncy floor as you people have now! I loved the video and enjoyed watching how skilled you all are and the ease with which you made some incredible moves. I’m disappointed you didn’t try Olga Korbut’s banned move on the asymmetrical bars where she stood on the top bar and did a back somersault 😊. Or the Korbut flip!
She was brutal
...there's a video of Sofia Campana trying the Korbut Flip and discovering how HARD it is. So, so many falls into the foam pit.
That's called the death loop!
Banned for good reason.
Thank you for these. My respect for gymnasts grows each time I learn more about how dangerous the sport can be, and how difficult it is.
I miss the arabesque landings on beam. I wish we could ban wolf turns and bring back the arabesques. Sometimes the code forgets that there is an audience to the sport. Wolf turns are hideous.
I agree! I've been trying to figure out what I hate so much about them so I started paying careful attention. I noticed in old school routines when they would do maybe just a half or full wolf turn it wasn't as bad. That's when I realized I think it might have something to do with their arms. They do numerous turns on there in a row now and they have to move their arms around to balance but it makes the turn ugly imo. Like when a regular pirouette is done the arms are held in the same position during the turn. It could be something else too. I'm not sure yet, I'm still investigating it lol. But yes I wish they would stop with those. They also have boring routines all around now because they all do the same thing and there is very little if any creativity involved. I think the sport is way over regulated.
Well probably because they care about the safety of the gymnasts about what you enjoy. And the fact that you would rather be entertained before their safety because it doesn’t seem appealing would say something awful about your character. But a real fan of gymnastics would care about the gymnast before the entertainment for them right?
@@treenutbutter Many of the skills they do now are way harder than many years ago,the regulations didn't make the sport safer, they discourage criativity bc skills that are different receive less value points.
Sure there is some regulation on safety and banning skills that are dangerous but many skills are discourage solely for lack of value when many of them actually are hard and had a sense of creativity.
The routines should defenetly value more creativity and that is what many gymnastic fans are pointing out about the actual elite gymnastics system
@@guilhermealmeida6181 that is not the point I’m making here. I understand how the code of points works and what it has changed to. I’ve been following mens and woman’s gymnastics for decades. My point is the original comment focused on the “audience” before the banned moves because a wolf turn looks ugly to them. It’s one thing to miss a move, it’s another to say the CoP needs to think of the viewers before the gymnasts
@@treenutbutter I didn't say I don't care about safety, you said that about me. There are far more dangerous elements still left in the code than arabesque landings. I used to perform the arabesques on beam when I was young, and I can't find any evidence of injuries resulting from this element. There are multiple reasons to take elements in and out of the code. Back to back wolf turns were recently removed from the code, most likely because of how overused they are (my speculation, though I've heard others say this as well). You can disagree with my point of view, but attacking the character of someone with little information about their intentions is pretty low. Of course I care about the gymnasts, or I wouldn't even watch this channel. If you have some information I don't about the danger of arabesques on beam you would like to share, I'd be interested to be informed on the matter.
It is so good to see the three of you together again and up to your normal shenanigans. I look forward to sing videos from all three of you.
gymnasts make skills look so easy and it isn't till you see a gymnast try new skills that we realize how hard they actually are. this video was really interesting to watch.
Love seeing you all in your happy place doing crazy stuff. Luke’s belly flop was excellent & when Nile was describing the multiple tumbles on the fast track it’s like listening to a foreign language but I love it!!
I hear the hardest part about teaching a gymnast to be a diver is teaching them to land on their heads…..it seems unnatural to land on something other than your feet lol
Honestly, I feel this. I wasn't even a good gymnast but I can't drive head first into the water without doing a roll when I touch the water
I switched to diving for college, and I had to fight over a decade of habits. It's not just landing on your head it's maintaining the position until you've gone all the way through the water
I recommend the videos with Nile and Tom Daley. They talk about exactly that.
I love watching these gents. I was a gymnast, and my daughter is now a coach. It’s so much fun to go into her gym and watch her coach the kids. I wonder how many of those kids will continue on into adulthood?
I loved watching the first one, the beam, because like, yeah they could fit 5-6 for sure. but their arms were so wide, they would've slipped off lol
"Easy peasy lemon squackers" makes me uncontrollably giggle every time lmao, it always catches me off guard 9:50
Olga was such a prolific gymnast. She did moves no one else could do. Including these guys. Ash came through and really nailed Olga's floor move. No one did the hip circles. There were entirely too many pads on the balancing beam to accomplish anything.
How is Ash always so good at all the challenges?!
Yes! For real! I love watching them ALL. They are mega talented guys, but Ash always wins my heart. He always kills every challenge!
Love that your back Nile
At 7:22 I think Nile showed exactly why the skill is banned 😮😂😂
My 11yo daughter has her first gymnastics class today. She wanted to start when she was 7 but we weren’t in the financial position to have her do it. I told her she also needs to practice at home and make sure she stretches her muscles so she won’t tear anything. I also said it is a commitment that she needs to take seriously and most importantly have fun
Maybe she can win gold one day!
Believe me she will have lots of injuries! It’s part of the process!
Errmmm in the beam backflips you would have all fallen off - none of your hands placed! But still love you guys!
The back hand springs on the beam...these guys would be on their heads because their hands are not on the line. Too funny! I remember my very first tumbling pass on that beam! It was exhilarating
On the beam when you guys flipped your hands weren’t on the’beam’😂
Yeah I saw that too. Those "flicks" would have been "thwack's" and "thuds" as they hit their heads and faces.
Love you guys. Can you guys recreate the Nadia Comaneci and Olga Korbut uneven parallel bar routines please?
Those routines hurt ME to watch, as a woman and former gymnast. That’s an impossibility for men. 😂☠️ Just ask them to kick each other in the balls 10x, same result.
Have you ever thought “I wonder why these are banned”? Love the pain and sensitivity to each other though
Hey Nile, your link to Neil & Nile Golf doesn't work 🙁 Great video though. Hope to see some more like this. Nothing better than seeing The Three Musketeers together again having some fun 🤗😘 👏👏👏
LOL the opening moves on the floor stripe, you've all cracked your skulls because of hand placement.
So love seeing the three of you together again.. missed seeing you together❤❤
For the arabesque, while it requires power it also requires height
You 3 never fail to make me laugh. Keep doing what you're doing!
Great video!! With the one arm giant, ya'll should have started doing the two arm giant then with the momentum from the first one, you go for the second with just 1 arm. Would have been easier i think. When I see women do it, it's always out of a regular giant first. Just a tip... I hope.
The human body is amazing, and the demands we put on it and how it steps up to the challenges just blows me away.
Always love these. Its so wild how different these disciplines are!!
the way luke just knows “yup lets do Lukes” and just immediately lays flat on the beam😂😂😂 the POWAH their one shared brain cell shares
Corner to corner tumble runs is super common in elite cheer routines now. Funny that it's no longer a thing in gymnastics
First time catching one this early! Awesome to see the classic videos back.
Both Luke and Nile round off with left arm/leg first, which is the same direction I do. But in three gyms, I've been the only person going left, and everyone else would go right. The funny thing is I've been told (not by gym people, by other sports people) that left is far more common than right.
With the front flip into arabesque, y’all are doing PUNCH FRONT SUMMIES and then trying arabesque. The actual move is an AREAL FRONT WALK OVER into arabesque. Big difference. And in women’s gymnastics, it is not banned. It has only been devalued to the point of why bother.
On the two consecutive passes back to back, no one did two whip backs which gives you momentum. And are you calling an Arabian a flick?
On the one armed giant, y’all are trying it from a dead stop, basically. Do a kip up to a handstand, one or two giant swings then do the one armed giant. You can’t muscle your way through things or your going to pull ligaments in your shoulder or your arm out of it socket. There are easier and way more fun things to pull, which I’m sure you’ve already discovered.
When doing back flips on the more to "simulate" the beam, your hands were not on the beam line.
I loved watching all the tricks! Gymnasts are amazing people.
did they forget their hands have to be on the “beam” in oder to do a back handspring on it 😂
*inaudible Yorkshire* got me 🤣🤣 great video!!
I love watching men and women do each other's gymnastics
Well done, lads. You all did really compress those flips to make room for six on the beam line. And, yes Nile, the salmon suits you. Cheers, mates!
Many years ago I saw Barry Winch doing one armed long swings he must have been in his mid forties at the time
Good to see you all smashing it.
Missed you bunches Nile ❤
Please do a "highest tuck back video" where you see how high you can tuck back in the air and at the end you see how high of a platform you can land on!!
They’re doing their quad flips with their hands wide apart. You obviously can’t do that on the beam. It’s way harder doing it properly - not to mention, as part of an exhausting and dizzying routine.
The quad flicks... it's the way none of the male gymnasts' feet would have landed on the beam at all LOL because they don't have the step-out position thing down (I'm clearly not a gymnast, but my daughter has at least taught me what "beam feet" are haha)
Why does it seem like tuck fronts are harder than tuck backs? Something about momentum/weight distribution?
Fronts are blind landings, meaning you can't see the floor before your feet hit the floor. And the more you lay out, the more true that is. Backs you can spot the ground before landing and therefore adjust as needed.
Lookin on Ash making korbut flip on the mat that good in such a short time makes me blow minded 🤯😱
Small technicality wirh the back flics on the "beam" is you'd be landing on ya heads fis your arms are too wide lol
"Inaudible yorkshire" :D
Mate I'm from wakey, made perfect sense to me!
The quad flicks aren't four flicks... It's two flicks and two aerials. So I demand a redo on that! 😅
2:57 Guys I’m so happy you didn’t do this on the beam because your hands would have missed the beam & you would have more than a broken nose I think. 🫨
Your hand positions for the beam work would have left you all with a few headaches...
Hi guys I've missed you so much ❤❤❤❤❤
An Englishman in England apologising for the rain 😂
Leapin' lizards!!! 💥🤸
Those one arm giants are BRUTAL!!!
That backflip to stomach is a pro wrestling moonsault. It’s insane those people just throw it off the top or out of the ring
I would love to try all this stuff, but I had hugely traumatic shoulder fracture 10 mos ago that required a reverse shoulder replacement. No more cartwheels or anything else for me. 🤣🤣
With Luke so much bigger he’s actually got a smaller space so actually he’s killing it!
I love all four channels and I am subscribed to each of you!
Here is the reason why gymnastics got a little less fancy😮
Yet i do support the fact that they need some ban as i could see the level of hurts and danger 😮
Love watching you all especially on my birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 😊❤!
Those trampolines on a second story omfg i would neverrrr
2:19 I think one of the commentators did mention this and they don't allow four backhand springs anymore but I can't remember what she said the reason is. I would guess for safety reasons.
Don’t want to tenderize the tenders fellas! One of my students did that a few days ago. His first time ever. 😮
What does this have to do with anything?
Golf link not working for me...can't wait to see the two of you doing videos again.
Nile thank you so much for the content you release! With every new video I get a huge amount of pleasure. Hello from Russia
Love this video!
Great watching you three!
Never laughed as much in a while 😂
Love watching these videos because they make me feel better when I’m feeling low or feeling anxious!! @nilewilson is an amazing inspiration for anyone who wants to try gymnastics!!
Many of these look painful. Now I must say that you guys look rather graceful!
I love watching the whole crew!! You guys are such an inspiration! I am graduating college and I have been an athlete my entire life so it feels weird to have that chapter be somewhat closing but you guys have showed me that it never really stops!! So thank you and love you guys tons!!❤❤
Congrats on graduating soon!!
I’m actually graduating from high school soon and same 🥳 congrats
Do I know anything about gymnastics? No. Am I going to watch this whole vlog? Absolutely.
Y’all should get laser beams for your gyms.
At 4:43 Niles face cracks me the hell up
Jaw dropping and so much fun
Perfect.. 😃👍
Them: "That's so much harder than it looks, isn't it?!?" "I say this everytime we do beams stuff... it's just stupid. It's madness!"
We say the same thing about ALL the stuff you do effortlessly, just messing around.
Meanwhile, I pulled a muscle sneezing. 😂😂😂
you guys are fab!!!!
Kinda impressive to see a big guy being so flexible!
“Well if you can only fit 4 in and you can do 5” : finish the quote for a free NW T-shirt 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
First time watchin yall. (Yes im a southern lady). Anyway, congrats! Yall made this video with the prospects of hurtin yourselves. I umderstand yall ate gymnasts but wow.... those were really hard, no wonder they were banned. 😮😊
Has Nile done Highland dancing? That's what he looks like in the cat leaps🙀
Love, love, love golf !!
Wow you guys rock! I can’t do any of These things lol
awesome video! ❤😊
Thank you. Luke keeps yawning and he needs a nap! Maybe you all should take one every day?
Inaudible Yorkshire 😂
Gotta admit, I was really hoping you'd do the Korbut flip
Interesting, good control a power
