Malik is the key to un-locking Sabonis. The Malik and Sabonis two man game opens up the King offense a lot! Malik and Sabonis can both find shooters when they run their pick and roll action. Plus, Keegan and Trey expect to get the ball when Malik is on the court, which helps them play FREE. “Buddy Hield said something that Coach Brown needs to here, he says the Golden State offense is awesome, because if u give the ball up, you may see it again!” I repeat having Fox, Malik, Keegan, Trey, and Sabonis on the floor will equal better ball movement and better pace. The elephant in the room, playing Sabonis and Demar together slows the offense down a lot, because Demar plays in the same space that Sabonis plays in. Plus Demar un-like HB, is ball stopper! Demar has always been the GUY! When Demar gets the ball, he is looking to shoot first not find the best shot. The Kings may be the only team, in the NBA, playing two post players? Demar is basically a post player he takes a lot of 2s. Demar being on the court messes up Keegan, Huerter, and Trey games a lot! Sabonis has not been on triple double watch all year! A huge part of getting Keegan, Huerter and Trey going is pace and splash 3s! Team don’t fear the Kings starting 5 at all! Fox, Huerter, Demar, Keegan, and Sabonis, does not work. The current starting 5 lacks pace, lacks assists, lacks size, lacks scoring, and it is killing Sabonis play making ability. Starting Fox, Malik, Keegan, Trey, and Sabonis gives the Kings, pace, splash 3s, size, scoring, and Malik un-lock Sabonis. Sabonis gets easy shots when he plays with Malik. The second 5 should probably be Malik, Huerter, Keegan, Trey, and Alex Len. This team also misses Davion! Davion was fast, like Fox and Malik, Davion could attack the paint, Davion was great at finding shooters. Kings currently have two point guards that play at the pace they love, Fox and Malik, which is another issue.
We need to just play more fluid basketball, it’s seems like every time someone takes a 3 they take a split second to think “Mike would want me to take this shot so I’m gonna take it” and it just looks unnatural if that makes sense. Watching other teams, the ball movement and flow is much butter than the kings and all the shots seem like they’re in rhythm, compared to our guys who almost seem surprised when they get an open look and take the shot not because they’re feeling good and confident but because that’s what coach would want

For trying to salvage THIS season (and the current iteration of the team), my half-baked ideas would be trading Huerter + Lyles for John Collins and do a 3-way trade by flipping DeMar for a first and then tacking on another first for Cam Johnson. Only out 1 first in this scenario and get bigger across the board. (I wouldn't do this though as I don't want them sending out any firsts moving forward.)

Question: If Lyles, McD and Jones had only 4 attempts (0%) in combined 40 minutes is this a them problem as they are not getting in good spots? I have moderate expectations for this season (cause of the tactics, not the players), but so far they are underperforming my expectations. However since it is the Kings I would not be surprised we play a good game vs OKC and get the win. We have lost to Toronto, Spurs, Nets , so its good we are not playing Olympiakos soon ;)
Tbh there might not be any fix for this team cause of who DeMar is and his fit with the Kings. The spacing is atrocious and DeMar is not even willing to take 3’s. Idek if this is a good idea but I would call the Wizards and swing a huge trade for Kuzma and Jonas.
Also I think we need somebody to get T’d like Mike did. Show some emotion when we are playing like shit. Not like Sabonis though I don’t like seeing him getting made at his teammates when he forces a pass or when they don’t give him the ball in the post.

No idea how to explain this funky trend the Kings are on this season. I think its safe to conclude its not just one thing, but a combination of all the things that have been talked about by fans/analysts/players/coaching staff. Just for grins, I'd add a crisis of confidence to the list of issues - they just seem so tentative and unsure of themselves sometimes. Keegan was aggressive tonite - more of that please! Best offense in the league 2 years ago to where we are today is tough to explain and even harder to watch sometimes. 65 games left to to figure it out, and have to be better than a .500 pace, more like .600 minimum. Starting lineup changes/rotation changes? - worth trying at this point as more of the same is not working. Trades? - Too much to speculate on. Really hope we get a win tonite against the Pelicans - the team we could not beat last year. Lets Go!

This is depressing! These games they should win are going to matter later in the season IF they turn it around. I'm hopeful but below .500 is just sad. yeah derozan needs the ball to be effective. u already have fox, sabonis and monk for that. but having a mid range 1v1 player is good. i put most of the blame on huerter and murray who arent shooting well
Why did we sign demar derozan? He is an awful fit here. You’re supposed to surround fox and sabobis with 3&D wings, not derozan types. They just went out and looked for the flashiest name they could sign without considering fit. And the bench is awful too

@ If Coach Brown is given the necessary pieces to diminish the weaknesses of Sabonis and Fox and they still look the same,then you can blame him also,but it’s the same players with the same weaknesses from 3 seasons ago !Derozan is the only addition.I honestly think they know each others weaknesses and mentally checked out.Sabonis and Fox run the offense but the league caught up to their lack of ball handling skills and blitz them which causes turnovers.Traditional point guard is NEEDED BAD.Tyus Jones or McCain should’ve been targets but instead keep bringing in the same type of players.Carter is another Keon Ellis/Colby Jones/ 6’2 defensive minded and will occasionally hit the 3 but not a ball handler.
