BIBLE STUDY WITH ME | James 1

Just to clarify James wrote this letter to the Jewish people, I did not make this clear in the video. James 1:1 - 'James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings'.
I'm back with another #BibleStudyWithMe series - this time we are going through the book of James.
In today's video we are studying James 1, and it's a good one!
James 1 focuses on trials, wisdom, faith, and living out God’s word.
1. Joy in Trials & Testing of Faith (James 1:1-12)
James encourages believers to find joy in trials because testing produces perseverance, which leads to spiritual maturity. He urges them to seek wisdom from God, who gives generously to those who ask in faith. He reminds them that riches are temporary, and the person who perseveres under trial will receive the crown of life from God.
2. Temptation & the Nature of God (James 1:13-18)
James clarifies that God does not tempt anyone; temptation comes from our own desires, which lead to sin and eventually death. However, every good and perfect gift comes from God, who is unchanging. Believers are born again through God's word and should live as His firstfruits.
3. Being Doers of the Word (James 1:19-27)
James urges believers to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. He emphasises that merely hearing God’s word is not enough-true faith is shown by action. He compares a passive hearer to someone who looks in a mirror and forgets their appearance. Pure religion, according to James, includes caring for orphans and widows and keeping oneself unstained by the world.
