Friendssss- I know the way this is edited makes it look like I’m using the curling barrel like a regular curling iron but I don’t! I removed the footage of me using the air flow to curl my hair because the footage was too long. Here’s how I use it- I wrap my ends around the barrel because they don’t stay wrapped around the barrel when they’re wet. Then I use the air flow to curl the rest of my hair. Once my ends dry I’m able to let go of them, but I like to adjust my curls if needed whenever they’re misaligned from the air flow so that it forms an even curl. If I don’t do this it looks super messy. But I’m still using the air flow to create the curl. Hope that makes sense!
Thank you so much for doing the review! I also got the new dyson airwrap and there is definitely a learning curve to the machine. Somethings I’ve learned: - use a holding or texturizer cream before styling - make sure your hair is about 90% dry.. when your hair is still wet.. the curls do NOT hold - practice for a GOOD latch with almost dry hair, this is sooooo ideal.. a good latch ensures a clean curl not a wonky weird curl with different tightness - DO NOT touch your curls after, leave it alone.. don’t brush through until after you are done with curling all your strands - turn off the machine after EACH curl and then take the machine off your strands.. if you have the machine blowing air while tying to unloose the curls.. it will blow everywhere - get a good hold hairspray.. I have Asian hair, which is slightly thicker, straight, oily scalp, and not dyed or color damaged. I think the type of hair you have also effects which attachments are useful to you.
If your hair is thick and frizzy it won’t smooth out your hair properly and hair won’t hold like using tongs in the traditional way. I still use it but not if I want perfected hair it’s quick and convenient for daily use but by mid morning my hair is slightly frizzy
My problem is yes they increase the quality of the attachments, but they increase the price too. The original price is so extortionate that they should be offering the best quality they can WITHOUT increasing the price even more.

There is a huge difference between the round brushes.I have curly hair and I own first generation purple Airwrap. When I use the first generation brush I need to go over my hair at least for five or more times since the base of the brush has a metal that is harder to get heated up and faster to cool down. In the second generation since the base is all metal it gets heated fast but cools down slower. So when I am using the second generation it only takes 2 times to go over the hair and make it straight.I tried to second generation in the demo store and I will be purchasing the brush!
Right there is a big difference! The metal damages you're hair much more. And if you want straight hair, than you only have to use the smooting brushes.
Same! They have a smaller (can you believe it?) round brush which makes nooo sense because this one is pretty small as it is. I have a sneaking suspicion Dyson doesn't do real testing with normal length hair. They always do their demos on tiny swatches of extensions. The round brush might work for that but not for real people!
@@herefortheplants9543 just out of curiosity - why do you need a round brush at all if you have the smoothing ones??? Especially on longer hair… round brush just tangles and pulls longer hair, it is useful for short ( and I mean SHORT) hair only, otherwise it just sits in the drawer…
I feel the same about the round brush attachment! I think they need to make changes to the bristles to help it grip the hair better for a smoother look. I love the original airwrap with the longer barrels, but I was hoping it would replace pretty much all my other tools and it didn’t because of the round brush. I find myself using the drying attachment and regular round brush when I want a straighter, more voluminous look.
The Dyson round brush air flow blows from inside out which is the opposite to the the old school blow dry and round brush method. Probably the reason for suboptimal result
Really helpful, particularly the new dryer/smoother. I suggest you look at a few tutorials on how to use the curlers though. There are a few simple techniques that will give you much better results.
Apparently they did change the round brush a little bit. I think the original round brush was plastic, whereas the barrel of the new one is metallic and so heats up more so increases the volume a bit more.
I think the reason why the waves didn’t last is the way you did them. Try doing them not you curling the hair around the bare, but letting the hair wrapping itself starting from the tips, that will make a difference… and if you do it please let us know the result 😍

I was thinking the same thing! She’s not using it right! I wonder if this is because she got used to the shorter barrels and those were just too short for her so they didn’t work properly, but she should be able to use it correctly with the longer barrel.
@@AbbeyYung the secret is to dry your ends and only leave a little bit of moist. I have been using my air wrap since September 2021 and still learning. It is a great product and it does what it says on the box. As suggested in previous comments Dyson’s website provides the best advise how to make the most out of your air wrap xx
Hi Abbey ❤, I don't have the Dyson Airwrap but I do have the Dyson Super Sonic Hairdryer for nearly a couple of years now. I couldn't spend that much on another hair tool in saying that I would like to have the paddle brush to straighten my hair so that I don't have to worry about using a straightener. Have a lovely weekend 😘. PS I so happy that you're uploading your videos again on a Friday that I look forward to 🥰.
I’ve been using the new attachments on the old handle for a few months now, and I’ve actually swapped the curling barrels back to the old ones. I love the updated blow dry/smoothing attachment though. Two reasons I switched back; 1. The extra air pressure in the barrels was overheating my airwrap. Curious to see if this happens with the updated handle when it gets older. 2. The notch where you twist makes it harder to slide the hair off the barrel, which was messing up my curls a little bit and making it harder to drop them into my hand to cool them without letting them drop out. The airflow was more even and to begin with I loved them, and I will probably travel with them because they take up less space.
I loved your video. I completely agree about the round brush. I was bummed they didn’t make any changes to it. I really can’t use that brush at all the way it is.

I remember you saying in another video that you wouldn't review the T3 air brush because it's too damaging (it's not true and if I'm mistaken you used to use the Revlon one which is known to be way too hot and damaging, which is why you stopped I think), so I'm confused why you would use the Dyson but not the T3 when it's the same type of product? You should give the T3 a shot! I've seen some reviews and each one seemed to show better results than the Dyson at a fraction of the cost.
@@AbbeyYung ooh ok that makes sense! you mentioned in this video that you didn't find the round brush attachment on the Dyson very impressive, I've seen some reviews of people saying the same and they compared it to the T3 and said that the Dyson blows out the hair too much and the T3's brush grabs onto the hair better and the result is also smoother. I think it would be cool to see you make a comparison video, especially considering how your hair tends to frizz easily (it's the same with my hair) and most reviews I saw are either not very in-depth like yours tend to be, or they're people with naturally smooth hair. I've thinking of getting it since it seems so much more convenient and faster than using a dryer and a brush but I'm not sure yet.
@@dmar6770 Drybar products are hard to find in my country, so no :P but I think, from the reviews I've seen, the T3 seems better but the Drybar is a good option too! I don't remember the specifics but I think there are at least a couple videos on youtube that compare the two.
Great video! Very thorough. Love my original Airwrap and just purchased the new long barrel. Before investing more $$, this video is just what I needed to purchase the upgraded attachment (Coanda smoothing dryer). Thanks 👍🏽
The SAME thing happened to me!!! I got my airwrap at Best Buy when I checked they were always sold out (I even said to myself imagine they come out with a new one) and then a week later they announced the new one 🙄. Luckily I was able to return it and get the new one also haha
I think that the curls would look better if you didn't wrap them around the barrels. I was making that mistake at first and just using it like a curling iron. I think that you would like it better if you used smaller sections and allow the airflow to wrap the hair around the barrel instead of using your hands to wrap. My curls look better when I use the attachements like they were made if that makes sense.
Regarding the curling barrels: I am right handed and when I curl my hair I naturally curl them at a different angle on two sides of my head. On one side the curls always stay longer. That is my observation. I wonder if that can be the reason for the difference in curl hold, rather than a difference in dyson 1 vs 2?…
I think we have to email them to get them to come out with a round brush that works better than the revlon one step- its super frustrating to me that they havent done that yet. I just bought the T3 bc of the round brush on my dyson. THanks so much for he video- I would have had FOMO. Now I only have to buy the one attachment. I did purchase the longer large barrels for the original- would have rather had one for travel instead of the bulk of two. THanks so much for this video- would love a comparison witht he T3- Im actually loving it- feels better for my hair than the one step but offers the larger brush to dry my hair with body quicker.
Does your hair hold a curl easy or does it typically fall? Mine always falls with every brand I’ve tried so I’ve given up. I wonder if this is worth the hefty price tag…? I have blonde, fine - but a lot of it - hair that just is stubborn and falls very quickly.
I have come to the conclusion that the barrels just don't give the same results on fine hair, curls simply fall out no matter how you form them or whatever 'hold' product you use. The dryer and brush are great for straightening, much kinder 9n the hair. The round brush attacks the hair and makes it frizzy :(
Hi Abbey. Looking weekend fabulous! 😀 thank you so much for this informative review. I splashed out on the original airwrap but not sure about the new model. Very interested in the coanda attachment though after seeing you using it. Have a super weekend!
There is a smoothing attachment for the original. I would love to see a comparison of these attachments since I own the original. I am curious if the smoothing attachment is worth upgrading. Thank you for a great video!
Thank you great in dept honest review. I have the original and have just purchased the new attachments, in the UK, as a owner five piece complete long bundle from Dyson for £140 about $170. It is only the attachments. Although you can also purchase the case if you want.
@@nebneb255 depends on what you use the most. The new coanda smoothing attachment is worth it and is also still available separately. I mostly use the 30mm and 20 mm long barrels and they aren’t currently in stock but you can be notified when they are in stock. The brushes aren’t really that necessary when the new coanda dryer also smooths unless you have really thick hair. I would just buy the ones you really use the most. The 30ml barrels do hold the hair better and give a slightly better result. Hope this helps.
@@kr8882 thanks so much for this, it’s really helpful! I went ahead with the smoothing attachment, and a new round brush because my last was broken. I rarely use the brushes or curler so you helped me save a bit of cash!
If you could choose between the super sonic or the air wrap, which would you say is best? I use curlers and straighteners usually but want volume from a dryer at my roots. I don’t have the thickest hair but it’s wavy and can get frizzy with air dryers in general.
The diffrence is just because of the length of the barrell. The short one is not gripping all of your ends. So the long ones appear to last longer because it actually grips all of your hair and is distributed evenly on the barrel. But overall i cant see a difference and i think the onlyy thing that is really different is the first attachment
actually, they do have some other sizes of the same attachments and the longer version of the curling attachments are not new either ( they just sell them separately) I actually got the long curling attachments of the older pink Dyson over two years ago
Have you experienced reusing the airwrap day 2 and day 3? Does it re-curl good? Wonder if this is easier if I re-wet hair a little and use it again for day 2 and 3
Thanks for this video. I did purchase the longer barrels but the curls just won’t stay at all. Question ? What products do you put in your hair to get the curls to stay. I also have a beach waver and my curls stay great for several days. Any suggestions? 👄💄💖

I am confused about the faces you made on your thumbnail photo, the "new" dyson side shows you looking totally astonished, like there is something really mind blowing about the new one. Doesn't sound like that's the case. The curls on each side look pretty much identical.
Honestly I don’t know if I am just a little dumb or what, but I genuinely cannot use the smaller barrel. My hair just cannot catch fully even with TINY sections. I’m thinking that the Dyson just was not made for hair that hits the lower back. There’s a limit to what works tbh
Buyer beware! Air wraps only have a 2 year warranty! I called 2 years and 1 month after purchasing my air wrap and they would not honor the warranty. Usually if it’s that close a lot of companies will honor the warranty. Other Dyson products have a 5 year warranty. I did order the new barrel tho and I love it! And I still think it is the best thing I have ever spent a lot of money on that I don’t regret for even a second!
Not a criticism, but when part of video showing use of barrels, I thought it was a different person. You had no makeup and looked so much younger. Great video, very informative. Thank you.

Its been used completely wrong….. how can you compare something if its used wrong 😑
Just ordered the Coanda smoothing dryer 😍 can't wait!
Thank you for showing us the difference!! I have the old one but I wanted to know what’s the difference 💕
I’ve been using the new attachments on the old handle for a few months now, and I’ve actually swapped the curling barrels back to the old ones. I love the updated blow dry/smoothing attachment though.
Two reasons I switched back;
I would love to see review for a dyson supersonic 😊🙏🏻 i feel like we have similar hair and your review would really help 😁💗 i didn’t find Many videos on the hairdryer so im waiting for yours 😁💗
Thank you, Abbey! I just bought the new Coanda smoothing attachment and it came without any instructions. I was lost! Your video was extremely helpful.
Abbey I just love you and your videos. If I want all the full deal (data, analysis, reviev), I just get it here every time. So good that we have you 👌❤️
Abbey!! 🤗 You make my day!
Would you be willing to collect numerical data to discuss the rate of hair growth? I'm thinking like measurements and maybe a scalp microscope? I know you are awesome at research and I haven't seen anyone on RUclips do a quantitative analysis of growth rate when comparing products or supplements that claim to "grow hair faster"
Ohhhh interesting idea I like it!
I LOVED YOUR PRESENTATION OF NEW VS OLD.I will be getting the longer barrel and smoothing one within this week .I will also be watching you much more often,I have so much to learn.Getting the results I want are so much easier using the Dyson system, much less damaging for me also.I am mixed race kinky and curly hair,l get keratin treatments 2-3times a year so my hair is very straight no curl or bend to it.About 4-5 inches shorter than yours an quite thick even with no curl to it,so use similar styles as you do.looking forward to watching and wearing more finished sytles I thank you for timeless clean styling of my hair and Dyson too.I purchased the "OLD Dyson set after watching your videos I am 68 yrs old and never look it ,keep well groomed and look good not just younger...ValV
When a person buys 2nd Dyson but still doesn’t know how to do the curls correctly…😂
Would love to see your tutorial on how to properly use them. Interested to learn the perfect way to get it done.
Would you consider doing a giveaway of whatever one you don't want? 👀 Personally could never justify the purchase but was always interested in it
So are the attachments suitable for fine thin hair?
Great review thanks but you are not using the barrels right.
Thank you Abbey..I will like to buy one of the the Airwrap for my mother..Her hair is a lot shorter than yours. Which one will you recommend the old or the new version..Do you have any videos for short hair..
Thanks .Please let me know as soon as you can..
I mean I don’t use them on soaking wet hair as a way to completely dry my hair! I always dry with a dryer first
@@AbbeyYung ooh ok that makes sense!
you mentioned in this video that you didn't find the round brush attachment on the Dyson very impressive, I've seen some reviews of people saying the same and they compared it to the T3 and said that the Dyson blows out the hair too much and the T3's brush grabs onto the hair better and the result is also smoother.
Have you tried the Drybar single shot ?? Heard it’s a great brush/dryer???
Hi Abby, I just purchased the latest model and your video was way more helpful compared to the dyson video. Thanks ❤️
Wich site holds longer you're right of you're legt site?
Can you make a tutorial on round brushing your hair with a regular hair dryer?
Hey Abbey!! I'm super excited for this video.
loved the detailed descriptions and explanations - super-helpful video!
You should check out Hot Tools one step, it has different sized round brush :)
Which t3? Is it a little more damaging on the hair vs the Dyson?
Great info, but no links to buy the products? Can’t seem to find them anywhere🤷♀️
Stunning job! Happy weekend, Abbey!🌸🌸❤️❤️
Thank you for your really informative tutorial on the airwrap.
Are they worth it, do you think? It’s payday and I’m thinking about it!
Your hair is so perfect!!! 🤩
What's your makeup breakdown today? Flawless!
The diffrence is just because of the length of the barrell. The short one is not gripping all of your ends. So the long ones appear to last longer because it actually grips all of your hair and is distributed evenly on the barrel. But overall i cant see a difference and i think the onlyy thing that is really different is the first attachment
If I’m going to spend that much on a hair tool it better do some kind of magic all by itself. I don’t want to struggle that much!
She used it wrong 😑 If you watch the Dyson video tutorials you’ll find that the airwrap is a life changer!
Well if you have the old one, you just need to get the longer barrels which are only $40
Hi Abby, can you check out panasonic hair dryers, wanted to hear your thoughts on it.
Should heat protectants be used for blow drying hair? As in simply drying it and not styling
12:16 curling it up like that defeats the purpose of the technology of it wrapping your hair round lol
I actually want the new dryer. I wasn't that interested in the first one. Thank you for doing this review
Yes to a dyson tips/tricks video please
actually, they do have some other sizes of the same attachments and the longer version of the curling attachments are not new either ( they just sell them separately) I actually got the long curling attachments of the older pink Dyson over two years ago
Have you experienced reusing the airwrap day 2 and day 3? Does it re-curl good? Wonder if this is easier if I re-wet hair a little and use it again for day 2 and 3
Def want the vid on Dyson tips and tricks
Thanks for this video. I did purchase the longer barrels but the curls just won’t stay at all. Question ? What products do you put in your hair to get the curls to stay. I also have a beach waver and my curls stay great for several days. Any suggestions? 👄💄💖
Same question, curls won't last with me either.
Do you add a texture spray after styling it ?
Hi ;) do you dry your hair completely before using the smoothing function? Thanks!
Complete and well made video, thanks a lot!
Most helpful video ever on Dyson ❤️
is the new one available in the colour combo of the old one?
No, please 🙁 I’ve just spent over $4,000 in vet bills. I shouldn’t even watch.
But here I go.
😂 I so feel that
Thank you abbey 🥰 Are you reading my mind i was thinking about this device lol can you please recommend a product for hair shine! You are the best perdon to ask All i want is a silky shine hair before my wedding 🌟 thank you and Keep glowing ❤❤
Thanks Abbey. Have the Dyson blow dryer and love it, but never choice to buy the wrap. Good day to you:)
Oh nooo...now I want one! Also love your nail polish color!
how do you purchase the Coanda smoothing dryer separately ?
Thanks so much Abbey!!! I will try the new airwrap! Anyone tried the Drybar Single Shot?? Heard that’s a great one for the dryer round brush ??? 💕💕🥰🥰
Super helpful, thanks.
How about noise has it improved in the new model. Thanks
Abbey, how long before your curls fell?
Thank you for doing this video. I was just about to buy one.
Ugh I wish I could afford it. 😫 It looks amazing!
I love this! Would you be able to compare this to the new Ion Air Styler they sell at Sally Beauty? ❤️
I’ll check it out!
yes please!!!
Maybe they chose these bristles for the round brush so that it doesn’t tug the hair harshly?
I am confused about the faces you made on your thumbnail photo, the "new" dyson side shows you looking totally astonished, like there is something really mind blowing about the new one. Doesn't sound like that's the case. The curls on each side look pretty much identical.
Ooh Abbey. I love that nail color ❤️
Will the Dyson hair diffuser attachment fit on the Dyson hair wrap?
Honestly I don’t know if I am just a little dumb or what, but I genuinely cannot use the smaller barrel. My hair just cannot catch fully even with TINY sections. I’m thinking that the Dyson just was not made for hair that hits the lower back. There’s a limit to what works tbh
Please review the Shark Flexstyle!
Thank you.
Super helpful, thank you!
I really dig the new color
She said she didnt expect such a big difference.. then went on to say that she expected more..
.. she sounds smarter than she is, ten fold.
