1:29:24 "Imagine going back in time and explaining this is how I would be spending my 39th birthday" Past Vinny would be wondering where it all went all went wrong.
Hey everyone, dev here (TriassicPierce is a defunct Twitch channel of mine lol, I have zero cohesion between platform account names). Obviously, the scoring algorithm needs some more work, but this was a hilarious stream. Firstly, no, the game is not publicly available yet. Vinny played a rough early build today. Secondly, yes, you can absolutely make voice packs for it! In fact, every single Vinesauce-themed element in the game is loaded from a pack--it's not in the base game. Customizable things include the host, the judges, even the "CA-" audio was loaded from a Vinesauce-themed pack. 5/19/24 EDIT: It seems I just got .MP3 loading working, so expect it to no longer be .WAV-only like I say below. 5/21/24 EDIT: Since people have asked how to follow announcements on The Choicer Voicer, I've made a twitter account, "YeahMaybeDev," where I guess I'll post any relevant updates. To make a voice pack, put .WAV files in a folder (sorry, no .MP3). In order to have an image to go along with it, include a .PNG or .JPG that shares a file name with the .WAV. That's it! There's more details and specifics available in a post on the Vinesauce subreddit.
The game's nice so far! I think doing it like Jackbox would be neat too. Being able to record from your phone and letting your friends vote from their phones, but alas, difficult and I know it first hand. But nonetheless good luck.
The Nintendo scoring system most likely just looked at the sound much more roughly (eh, it starts and ends at similar times, guess noone is cheating) and then randomized the score
Hey! Really cool project, glad to see this concept brought to PC. If I from one programmer to another could advise on improving the scoring system: People's recording setups are never going to be ideal for what the game expects, the scoring should give as much benefit of the doubt as possible without just accepting any audio input whatsoever as a good score. If the recording audio is too loud to match the soundbyte audio, take the score of the recording and squash the volume as if the peak of it were to match the peak volume of the soundbyte audio. Additionally, put a gate on the minimum volume for both the soundbyte audio and the recorded audio and then align the recorded audio's first monent of non-gated volume to be at the exact same time as the soundbyte audio's moment of first non-gated volume. This way the score of the recorded audio is judged off of relative peaks rather than absolute peaks, does it really matter for example if the player's recording is at twice the peak volume of the soundbyte's peak so long as the rest of the player's recording is twice the volume of the soundbyte's volume? This would quell that disparity.
I love how Vin hates whatever he has to recreate every time something comes up. But then just _snaps_ into doing the voice the second the countdown starts
Vinny doing the voice, and the waveform being MASSIVE, followed by Vinny's dread is alwasy hilarious. The quiet 'uh-oh...' before the mic-crust sandstorm is everything.

@@keaton5101 So, in Star Trek The Next Generation, there is an infamous episode where Worf gets a clearly empty blue barrel dropped on him. It bounces and everything. However, he then proceeds to lay in bed for the rest of the episode since it essentially destroyed his bones on contact, according to show logic. Just look up "Star Trek Worf Barrel" and you'll see the clip, which is funny even out of context.
@@keaton5101In one of the episodes, Worf gets a "heavy" barrel fallen on top of him which renders him unable to walk for a while and it makes him feel such shame as a warrior that he begs to be offed rather than be seen as pathetic.
