Looks like you'd a better time on this section, although it was a shame about the fog. Worth it for the view at the end mind you 🏞️
Great that your dad and uncle were able to join you with Ruby too 🐶

Thanks! Yeah, a three day hike was much more fun then 11! Even if my feet were sore, I knew the end was near! It was all around a great time!

Devils Kettle is incredible. One of my favorite parts of the trail. You really set an ambitious pace!! Do you always like to hike that many miles in a day? I need to watch your other videos!

My first big hike was the Appalachian Trail and I started at maybe 12-15 miles per day. Eventually my body was able to hike 20+ days easily. Then I went to New Zealand and hiked Te Araroa which had easier terrain so I hiked huge mileage days around 30min es at times. I didn’t expect the SHT to be as difficult and so I was definitely too ambitious. It’s all about listening to the body and figuring out what pace works for you. And yes, Devils Kettle is so cool! I was excited to reach it, having only been there once as a kid many years prior! And I really enjoyed following the river afterward.

Most people skip the lower part. Start at Two Harbors and take two weeks at a much more leisurely pace. The amount of mileage you did each day was really extreme!
Jay Cooke and Duluth can be enjoyed on their own, while the stretch from Duluth to Two harbors isn't too exciting.
Too bad the Split Rock bridge is out because that loop has tons of waterfalls. It's been several years. And it has happened at least twice before.
    Really enjoyed your videos 😂

I wasn’t sure where the actual start was since the trails has changed a lot. But I should have skipped the section after Duluth since it wasn’t fun at all. But I eventually finished! Was lucky with hardly any rain.

What section were the pines in? Looks beautiful

The pines were maybe a mile or two north of South Carlson Pond campsite. I left camp around 9am and found those pines before 10am.
