I've heard many stories about Mt. Rinjani - Indonesia's second highest volcano and thus I really wanted to climb it as soon as possible. The only problem was that when I came to the foot of the mountain, the whole national park had been closed due to bad weather and thus it was illegal and very difficult to climb to the top. However... it was too good not to try and thus, after a few days of climbing, I went to the very top of it. What a beauty!

Are you planning to do the Annapurna circuit trek?, it takes around 20-25 days, and a piece of advice, do it without a porter.

I'll either do that or the basecamp trek, haven't decided yet. And yeah I'll do it without a porter. Maybe even without a guide, I don't know yet.

Cool video man. Never really thought about Indonesia as a place with mountains, we've been to Bali recently and loved it but watching this its clear we need to see A LOT more of the country!
Absolutely! Bali is just one of the 17,000 islands in Indonesia, there are tons more to see. I'm sure you'll go explore it next time you're there :)

Anything Edit: Travellers Indonesia has more active volcanoes than any other countries, almost 200 volcanoes in Indonesia and 120ish of them are active volcanoes. its laid on ring of fire line. heck they even have snow mountain as one of the 7 summits.
indonesia is just one of the part of the ring of fire, so u can find any volcanoes mountains in this country

15:56 that is why mount rinjani was closed that time, the staffs wanted to clean the mountain because there was so many trash there:( it was sad, i went there for a research about the fauna in that mount last february, sadly it was closed due to the cleaning. lombok is very beautiful, worth to go back

Para pendaki yg bule2 itu peraturannya harus menggunakan jasa porter .. semuanya keperluan pendakian dr mendirikan tenda di seranhkan ke porter .. menurut aku sih harus ada kesadaran juga bagi porter2 .. mungkin bule mikirnya kan udah di bayar jd termasuk sampah2 jg bagian dr tugas porters .. membawa turun kembali .. itu kekurangan gunung rinjani .. masih amburadul peraturannya
Pecinta alam sejati pasti tau menjaga alamnya. Pecinta alam jadi2an, yaa begitu kelakuannya... So sad, sifat penyampah orang Indonesia itu entah kapan bisa ilang...

Incredible Jacob, your spirit for adventure never fails to amaze me. 3,726 meters is well over 12,000 feet !!!! Effective Oxygen is reduced to about 12% at this altitude, hence making it much more difficult to walk and even to think straight.
You whipped those Australians for sure ..haha! What a cool, crazy, mental bunch of guys to do it with.
Yeah, those guys were so much fun! We're still keeping in touch and I'm sure we'll go on some other adventures down the road. They're super cool :)

Mount Rinjani or Gunung Rinjani is an activevolcano in Indonesia on the island of Lombok. Administratively the mountain is in theRegency of North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (Indonesian: Nusa Tenggara Barat, NTB). It rises to 3,726 metres (12,224 ft), making it the second highest volcano in Indonesia.

It's like watching a movie. I once going there but couldn't reach the peak because 'my heart' was too weak to step more closer. I only reach about 3.500m asl. Hopefully can reach 3726m asl this summer. Your video just made me feel "I have to go there" again! Rinjani is the most beautiful mountain that I've ever hike!! But I agreed with you, I hate everyone who throw the trash like that in a beautiful place. It sucks and I got ashamed as an Indonesian. You have to try Mount Tambora...

Anytime I'm having a bad day at work I think back to those porters trekking up and down Rinjani, barefooted and with all that weight on their shoulders!
+Alex yeah nah that doesn't sound like a lot of fun. That's why we left them huge tips - I reckon it was 150,000 or 200,000 each, so they were incredibly happy :)

Nah not much. I mean if you're going with a guide (and 99% people are), they'll not what to look out for. But when we were there, nobody had any issues :)
