CORRECTION: Our chart with schools having "Higher Early Decision Rates" Accidentally FLIPPED the percentages on Columbia-- for that school only the green bar should be blue and blue bar should be green. Sorry about that.
Competition can be extremely intense, specifically at top 10-15 schools. So, give it your best shot. Good luck with your application process. I hope you get into your dream school. Thank You.
Hi I have a video request: Can u do a video on whether or not applicants should do an admission interview? And the factors that should affect one's decision to do an interview or not?
Who else hated the June SAT? That curve was brutal. We should really consider changing the education system because one company (collegeboard) is controlling if you get into college or not. They control our future
ACT is much better and wont let your one weakness steal away your strengths, SAT needs you to be perfect, its super easy to get 32+(for harvard) in ACT but not 1540 in SAT
The "brutal curve" isn't the College Board's fault. That just means that the questions on this particular test were actually easier, which is why each question you get wrong punishes you harder. The tone of this comment really seems like Yash just wants to let off steam and is looking for excuses on why they didn't do well.
Applying to transfer from a California CC to UCLA/ UCB. Thanks for your videos, they still pertain to me a lot even though they seem geared towards mainly high school. Keep it up!!
Of course most colleges admit a greater percentage of early applicants than they do regular applicants. That's obvious. The pool of students is stronger. It does NOT mean an individual student is more likely to get in if they apply early. Making that assumption is extremely poor interpretation of statistics. The video completely ignores this important point.
Well, not any REA or SCEA schools for sure. EA plans that are STATE schools and not private schools are almost always ok, of which there are very few that tell you anything before Jan 1 (notably U Mich but really only if you are way early. They deferred almost all my students who procrastinated on turning in their early apps-- I think bc they were overwhelmed and didn't have time to read all the apps they got. Some of these kids ended up in top 10 /Ivy schools). The other top 30 or so that are permissible I name in the video (Georgia Tech, UVA, UNC). The place you MUST look though is the particular rules for your ED school. THAT is the place to start. Then if they say you CAN apply EA, or do not specify you can't, you could then apply to the non-REA EA schools (I.e. MIT, Cal Tech, etc.-- middle list on that slide in the middle of the video). However, the non REA early schools generally don't confer as much of an advantage to applying early. You can (As of now maybe it will change) apply ED to Penn or ED to Brown, then EA to MIT and EA to UMich, for example but not also REA to Harvard.
I heard that early admission generally does not help you much because it tends to be a more competitive pool, and ultimately just shows the college that you are more committed early on. Also, I thought the applicant pool was smaller than that of regular decision, which would give you a higher acceptance rate because the number of kids accepted is just out of a smaller whole. Or is it leveled out to be on the same scale as that of the regular decision?
It REALLY depends on the school. At places like Dartmouth and Penn, early is SO important. At places like MIT and maybe even NYU it really doesn't matter.
We compiled all the data from Common Data Set -- but these are individual reports that can be downloaded from each respective school-- as for a website with all of them check out our blog... you won't find all the data otherwise on a single site. Our updated version of the data is here: supertutortv.com/uncategorized/where-early-decision-or-restrictive-early-action-matters-in-college-admissions/
That was definitely a careless mistake. The green bar should be blue, blue should be green. Sorry about that -- the title at the top is RIGHT the bars got mixed up.
SupertutorTV okay cool- thanks so much! Also, do you think it’s better to apply to Columbia (my first choice) ED as an international student seeking aid even though they are need aware or Harvard (close second) EA, who is need blind for internationals
I need some advice. I’m going to be a sophomore next year in high school. I’m in my badminton team and might be playing varsity next year. Should I do another sport I was thinking of cross country. Will doing another sport benefit me when it comes to college applications?
So good No, the last test date for early action/decision is the November date. Some colleges don't even accept this and state their last acceptable date as the October one.
Not at the same school . You will be accepted, rejected or deferred to the regular pool as an early applicant. If rejected, you cannot reapply to the same school that year. You could try to appeal the decision but very few schools accept appeals (most that do are non-EA state schools). For EA, if deferred then you are in the regular decision pool at that point.

early decision- you are legally required to attend if accepted, unless u can’t afford it early action- different for each school, check their policy on that rolling admissions- you will get your admissions decision 2-3 weeks after application
Hello supertutorTV my name is Bilguun, international student from Mongolia.I have been struggling to find out the answer on my current position, which confuses me so much. Please HELP ME QUESTION:College that I seek requires the 2 subject tests but 3 years ago I took the National Examinational Test at my state and whether I have to take the SAT subject test or not even I took regular SAT?
Assume, I've applied at Columbia University in Early Decission...Somehow I get accepted...but the given financial aid is not favorable to me also to my family.....then what should I do? Will I be able to ask for full ride of Aid? Thank you!
Diego Cisneros I’m a freshman in NYC and UMich is one of the six colleges that I’m interested into applying to. I want to be a marketing manager in the future. The other five colleges are UT at Austin, UFlorida, UGeorgia, Ohio State, and UIllinois.

No one does it better @exceptional_tools on lG his the best thanks so much for helping me with my benefits.
Why are schools so picky, I can understand GPA and test scores. But now I have to follow a crap ton of rules just to apply?
Too many students applying......
Competition can be extremely intense, specifically at top 10-15 schools. So, give it your best shot. Good luck with your application process. I hope you get into your dream school. Thank You.
Thank god for this video. I knew early decision and thought early action was the same.
Same. I've just been going around using them interchangeably... oops.
I kept getting confused which was which 💀
Hi I have a video request: Can u do a video on whether or not applicants should do an admission interview? And the factors that should affect one's decision to do an interview or not?
Grace Na ^^^ please!
Who else hated the June SAT? That curve was brutal. We should really consider changing the education system because one company (collegeboard) is controlling if you get into college or not. They control our future
+Chi I know
One company isn't controlling it. The ACT exists also, and is equally accepted at universities
ACT is much better and wont let your one weakness steal away your strengths, SAT needs you to be perfect, its super easy to get 32+(for harvard) in ACT but not 1540 in SAT

@@skinach dude chill, I’m glad schools are starting to drop sat/act from their admission requirements
you should definitely make a video talking about foreign university admissions and how to navigate all of the differences with universities abroad!
Yes I totally agree with you! I am myself an international student, she should do that! That's will a great help for us!!
Applying to transfer from a California CC to UCLA/ UCB. Thanks for your videos, they still pertain to me a lot even though they seem geared towards mainly high school. Keep it up!!
Can you please talk about hbcu schools
For Early action schools since its no commitment how would universities stop you from applying to multiple private schools early action ?
Of course most colleges admit a greater percentage of early applicants than they do regular applicants. That's obvious. The pool of students is stronger. It does NOT mean an individual student is more likely to get in if they apply early. Making that assumption is extremely poor interpretation of statistics. Your point is correct when it comes to Early Action, but Early Decision has the advantage of showing a school that they are your top choice.
Just a quick question. So you can't apply Early Action to other schools and ED to one?
Such a helpful video! Thanks! :)

I watching this from Ghana 🇬🇭 in 2022 and it's very helpful thanks for sharing
Brook, quick question…if my daughter applies to Yale (EA, non binding )and gets in , can she apply to Stanford in January reg. decision? Thank u
I heard that early admission generally does not help you much because it tends to be a more competitive pool, and ultimately just shows the college that you are more committed early on. So you can’t apply for multiple early decision? Just one?
so i cant apply to other schools early action if i apply one early decision even tho early action is non binding???
What website has those stats about school admittance comparing Early decisions, actions and regular admittance?

Hey Supertutor can you make a video on motivation to thrive in the SAT.
If I applied to Early action, can I apply again for Regular decision?
It says Columbuia’s ED rate is way lower than RD, is this right?
No. I think those may have been flipped. Will check into it...
That was definitely a careless mistake. The green bar should be blue, blue should be green. Sorry about that -- the title at the top is RIGHT the bars got mixed up.

I need some advice. I’m going to be a sophomore next year in high school. I’m in my badminton team and might be playing varsity next year. Should I do another sport I was thinking of cross country. Will doing another sport benefit me when it comes to college applications?
How to upload document in university like Harvard
Guys I registered for the October sat and the December sat subject tests
Can I still apply early to a college that requires sat subject tests?
So good No, the last test date for early action/decision is the November date. Some colleges don't even accept this and state their last acceptable date as the October one.
Depends on the college's policies. You can read on most colleges' websites.
Thank you for your answers :)
God thank u so much
As usual ... Great helpful videos :-)
very helpful!
Can I apply early action, and if not accepted, try again for regular decision?
Not at the same school . You will be accepted, rejected or deferred to the regular pool as an early applicant. If rejected, you cannot reapply to the same school that year. You could try to appeal the decision but very few schools accept appeals (most that do are non-EA state schools). For EA, if deferred then you are in the regular decision pool at that point.

So early action is just applying early? I still don’t understand what early action is in broad terms
Yes -- but you can only apply early to private colleges if you aren't doing "Restrictive" early somewhere else.
Please someone explain😐 I’m having a headache this is too much
early decision- you are legally required
to attend if accepted, unless u can’t afford it
early action- different for each school, check their policy on that
rolling admissions- you will get your admissions decision 2-3 weeks after application
