  • Would you like to sell surface pattern designs but you don't know where? In this video I compare the two platforms I use the most (Patternbank and Spoonflower) and I go through the differences between them.
    Honestly, I don't think there's one that's better than the other one. But it's important to know the main differences to decide which pattern to upload in each platform.

    Spoonflower (two years after this video released) is now allowing approval online via close scans of the pattern uploaded. You need only order one sample for confirmation of your mailing address. So after you input your mailing address, they allow you to proof the design online, then make public. So very quick process (I uploaded 4 patterns just this morning)

    Hello, thanks so much for all the information I found it really helpful. Just a quick question . Does my vector/ai files need to also be in layers for patternbank? I don’t like working in layers on illustrator as I tend to clip mask my patterns and then drag it into the swatches .
    Thanks

    • @HeartmadeDesign
      @HeartmadeDesign  6 месяцев назад

      hi!! I don't think that's an issue, the layers are important in PSD files so they can edit themselves. Since in illustrator everything is movable even if it's on the same layer, that shouldn't be any problem. I also don't work with layers in Illustrator 😉

    Hi Claudia! Thank you for your video. I became a seller on pattern bank a month ago and have around 50 patterns in my portfolio. At the same time, It's hard to find any information about pattern bank in designers' communities: is it create good income or not? Is it worth investing your time? Maybe you can tell us how successful is your personal experience with pattern bank? Have you any sales through this platform?

    • @HeartmadeDesign
      @HeartmadeDesign  2 года назад

      Hi!! I share my income and I explain more in detail all I've experienced in Patternbank (together with all the other platforms I've tried) in my course the Beginners' Guide to Passive Income, which will soon be updated (working on it during May). I'm also building a membership all about passive income and selling digital products, if you want to know more about it and get the lowest intro price you can join the waitlist here: heartmade.es/piga-waitlist. For now, my advice for now would be to leave it enough time (I tend to recommend a minimum of 3 months per platform before analysing the results). It sounds like you are doing a great job there, having already 50 patterns! Let's see if in the next 3 months you get the sales you want :)

      @@Dimeee29 I am in the process of searching myself too. I thought about making my own site for download-able tiles at very high resolution because I know how to make them, like 8000x8000 pixels each or even better vector graphics. But making my own site means I need a double effort to get customers because they first need to find me and then I need to be bringing a lot of new patterns every day to keep the site filled with everything.

    • @shellyjoanne1835

      It depends. If you are selling non exclusive items you get 50% which is good compared to 10% on POD. You earn more for selling less plus you can keep selling that same design over and over again on the site..
