So sad that Joakim Ericsson couldn't sell his two best paintings. But totally understand that he had to find paying work elsewhere! I have a few unsold "masterpieces." It takes time to sell good work. Unfortunately, even if we artists donate work, much of the artwork we produce isn't collected and can't be. You really have to paint for yourself and be willing to live with your art. Might as well be the best you can make. And then in your own mind you can say you are living with paintings worth millions. And even millionaires, who spend fortunes on contemporary art (nonsense objects) don't have true art, the likes of which you have on your walls. And for all you know your work might be worth millions one day, and/or loved by the few who really love art and humanity.

There was a Bouguereau exhibition here in Milwaukee, WI recently - 100% agree on the buildup of form with paint. Incredible works with immense amount of detail.

Hei Jan-Ove!
