Thank you so much for the drive. Grew up in East Somerville. Cross and Broadway was my area in the 70's. Miss that area.

Glad you enjoyed it! This particular drive was a request from someone who lived here in years past but moved away and missed the old neighborhood. It's a familiar comment I get on my videos. People enjoy riding through their old stomping grounds.
      Thanks for watching. 👍

Lived in 1996-97 on building at 13:50min to your right in front of that old fire station. Thanks for the video

The Mount Vernon used to be my watering hole. I hope the restaurant survives the closures, and restrictions. Same with Cassey's hope their all doing well.

I think the outdoor dining helped a lot of them to just hang on and hope they could get through it, but there's no outdoor dining in January. I guess the next 3 months will decide the fate of a lot of these small neighborhood places. Pretty sad to see.

@@bostonwalkdrive7763 it's as sad as it is infuriating as well. Small bussiness in the state should be given a tax exemption, bit we all know that isn't going to happen. At least the owners of the Mount Vernon also rent apartments out up on the second floor, but the question really is will that be enough. Only establishments that are really going to prosper though are the banks. If a lot of these places want to survive they are going to have to call in loans.

@@saturn12002 Agreed. Much to be infuriated about. A cynic might say they just want the big boys to survive. Color me a bit cynical these days.

@@bostonwalkdrive7763 I would take it further than that. It's an unpopular opinion, but I really don't think this is a pandemic. The virus is less deadly than the flu, but nothing like this ever happend during a bad flu season, and now suddenly mask, closures, restrictions, complusury vaccinations are coming next. Two weeks they said, now here we are ten months later. If you ask me, all this is about is wiping out small business, the foundation of the economy, and most importantly travle restrictions. I'm as cynical about all this as one can possibly be, you're right to question it.
