I'm at the beach (of course) here in Old Orchard Beach, where they use their Christmas trees for a big New Year's Eve bonfire at the beach. What a great tradition!

Hi there! 😊 It looks like Boston is all set for Christmas! 🎄 What a fantastic Christmas tour! Starting on that peaceful beach was such a lovely touch-it made for a perfect prologue. Boston seems like such a beautiful city, and I believe I’ve mentioned before how much I admire its blend of classic architecture and modern skyscrapers. It truly gives off a "European" vibe, and some of its streets could easily make you feel like you’re strolling through a European city. It also seems like such an enjoyable place for a walk. Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience! 🌟
Seaport/Boston Harbor and Charles River are my favorite hangouts.
Too many red lights
Boston, 1st slavery place, Then they worked their way down the eastern seaboard and all the way out west.
Just imagine: It took 400+ years to build this bitch
Not so many people are trying to be out in that heat!
i have lived heremy whole live and seeing my local cumbees not being called heritage market make feel more at home bro keep it up❤
These days are coming in 2024 it's September in KC mo the low tonight is 48 degrees!!!!!
Wow the weather is so awesome there i live in florida and it sucks , got restraunts like this but your misrable from the heat ..
Yeah, we're heading into some of the best weather in this area over the next two months. Cool, dry, sunny and the foliage will be coming on strong in about a month. But, come January, we'll all want to be where you are! 😅
Nice looks like Hells kitchen nyc
I have been to Falmouth MA and Provincetown MA. Hi.😊😊😊
Me too. 🙂
@@bostonwalkdrive7763 Yep.👏👏👏
grew up there. thanks for taking me down memory lane.
Still walking, huh? It's a long 3 miles 😂
Funny, in my younger days, I would never have considered walking from VH to OB. Now that I'm, ah, a little older 😅, it's no big deal. Knock on wood.
It's STILL called the Art Cliff Diner?!?! My grandmother used to take me there when I was a tiny girl...I'm 62 now.
That was my first trip to the Vineyard in many years. Amazing how much is still the same!
Thanks for the ride
My great uncle Jimmie lived in Dennis for years. His family lived there in 1963 when Kennedy was shot. Uncle Jimmie flew him to Dallas that day on AF-1. James W. Andress. After he retired, he spent most of his time at the Barnstable airport. Airplanes were always his passion. 🙏♥️. He did real good for a kid raised in northwest Oklahoma in the 40's. His parents survived the largest tornado in history in Woodward Oklahoma while he was abroad in 1947.
I grew up in JP on Gartland ST .thanks for the tour.
Glad you enjoyed it.
You are not alone. Same happened to me. It is so common that it is actually the norm. It is the reality in American sociology. In the U.S. it is expected that you will find someone who will eventually become your 'default' spouse. They will then pressure you to split your time between them and your work, taking offense ratcheting up the pressure to such a degree that you will be unavailable to a third significant friend in your life. Meanwhile, females in the lives of other males with whom you would like to befriend, are engaged in the same type of behavior as your girlfriend/wife. Remember what you have gone through thus far in your life trying to find friendship in another male. If you think it has been all but impossible up to this point, you better prepare yourself for the reality that it will in fact only get worse as you age. An additional factor of age discrimination among middle aged men will soon kick in. This is reality. It was in fact mine and that of everyone, I mean everyone else I know. It will soon become yours as well. It's the society we live in and our sociological norm. Be glad you aren't living in Russia. It's far more difficult there to meet others as you get older. There is but one exception I'm aware of. If you write or speak publicly, you will attract others experiencing a similar reality. Having something in common with you, they will reach out to share their experience. Only to find out they live more than 2,000 miles away.

Wild card guess about what time of year the video was recorded in going by how the sun appears on the building my guess is January ? Was it Cold that evening?
Yes, it was January. I forget exactly, but unless it was the 'January thaw' it was cold.
28:00 I love lobster I like Mac n chz I like pizza but never would I combine all 3 n pay $10 for a slice only fools would buy that
😄 I'm lucky, I never had the slightest desire to try lobsta. Mac and pizza don't mix. 👍😀
@@bostonwalkdrive7763 Mac n pizza do not mix, I agree with that. You gotta try lobster though get you a decent bowl of butter to dip it in.

Great content. Researching on driving my Jeep TJ on the sea shore sand dunes

My Nana told me Quincy Shore Drive used to be called Wollaston Boulevard. She told me this sometime in the early 1990s while choking down a Pall Mall and driving dangerously slow. Miss you Nana 😘
🙂 That's a nice memory. 🙂 I used to live in Quincy, and actually it was named Morrissey Boulevard when I was a kid, sort of an extension of Morrissey Blvd in Dorchester.
@@bostonwalkdrive7763 I checked a historic map from 1923, and it lists the roadway as "Quincy Shore Reservation" and, to me, it appears planned rather than completed. I'll try and track down a map from the 50s/60s when my Nana was living in Quincy. I'm hoping my memory is correct on this one.
@@noremacmada Interesting. The state changed the name to Quincy Shores Reservation awhile back, and the street to QSD. My family owned a house on QSD for 66 years, and it was built in 1908. The original owner was the developer of a large section of the neighborhood in what was then called Atlantic Farms. The road back then must have been just a dirt path. At some point the state built the road, and put in a beach wall, which was replaced with the current one around the 50's. When I was a kid, the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) was in charge of it, and it was then Morrissey Blvd. It became QSD by 1970 or so.
Nice walk

You too!!
Happy new year!! 😉👍 It seems like a great way to celebrate the beginning of the year, and also very original. It reminds me a lot of Hogueras de San Juan here in Spain, which is also celebrated with a bonfire on the beach but on the night of June 23.
I remember that video and your description of the celebrations. Anyway, happy new year. It's getting pretty cold here. Hope it's a little warmer where you are. 🙂
@@bostonwalkdrive7763 Thank you, although unfortunately weather is also cold here
Thanks. Happy New Year.

I live in Bideford, UK. Our namesake in Maine looks like a nice town! We were going to visit last year but we headed south from Boston to Cape Cod instead. So thank you for this video.
Thanks for watching and glad you liked the video. It actually never occurred to me that there was a Biddeford in the UK. 🙂 It should have, since every other town in New England has a namesake in Old England. 🙂 Although I like this area of Maine, I'm from MA and partial to the Cape, but I think you would enjoy a visit to Biddeford and coastal Maine the next time.
@@bostonwalkdrive7763 Richard Vines was born in my town and went on to found Biddeford, Maine. Every single town in SW UK has a US namesake, i guess they were all homesick 😄

If I wanted you to go somewhere and film it would you be willing I'd pay ya.. I am from the Boston area Bay Village. Lived in Quincy roslindale many other suburbs after that. I'd be interested in paying you to go a few different places if you're interested I don't know how to contact you other than this. I will check to see if there is any message from you at some point in the near future thanks 😁👍
Im originally from the Boston area and I in no way could afford to ever live there again. Just a hotel room there for a couple of nights to visit runs about $300 or more. How much yearly income would someone now need to live in Boston or the surrounding areas? Minimum what? $75,000 a year?
Yeah, that's about right. The whole metro area is insanely expensive. In fact, I've come to the conclusion that I can no longer afford to live in my hometown. Unfortunately.
@@bostonwalkdrive7763 It's true and I don't know how low income families and people can live there with any semblance of a quality of life.
I am told that my friend that lives there.. comfortably 100 grand a year😢. I wish I could move back to
@@bostonwalkdrive7763I sent you a message but maybe I'll send it this way would you be willing to drive somewhere and video it if I paid you I lived in Boston Bay village to be exact and then Quincy roslindale a whole bunch of other western suburbs. I'll pay you of course😊
@@mkskate1 Hi, I'm retired here in Mexico and if you know of a way we could split a place there, let me know. I grew up in Needham and my grandparents had a house in Hull for many years.
Hard to believe, but until the Mass Pike opened in 1954 (?), rte 9 was the fastest way to western Mass and NYC.
👍 I think the same when I'm driving route 53 or 3A - wow, this is how they used to drive to the Cape before route 3 was built.

Hi! It looks like everything is ready for Christmas in Boston! 😄 Great Christmas tour! I like your start of the tour on that quiet beach, it is undoubtedly a great prologue. Boston seems like a very beautiful city to me, I think I have already told you about it before, I really like its mix of classic buildings with modern skyscrapers, I have the feeling that it must be the most "European" city in the United States. It might seem like you are in a European city in some of its streets, it also seems very pleasant place to walk. I really like the Christmas decoration around Quincy Market (beautiful interior of the building... and the central dome is spectacular), it is not too ornate and it is elegant like the buildings in the area. I also really like the huge skating rink in the park, it is located in a great place, and it also seems that the skaters are experts, we don't have that level of skating in Spain 😄 PS I remember you told me about your cityhall 😄 I don't find it so ugly as you say, although it is quite out of place in the area where it is located. Thank you very much for bringing Boston's Christmas spirit to us! I enjoyed a lot your tour. See you! Take care
Hola, and thanks for watching the video! I decided to do something a little different for the opening of this video, so I started with that short intro segment on the beach. Actually, I grew up on that beach and spent many summers as a kid swimming there. I think you're right about Boston being the most European city in the USA. I once worked with a guy from Paris, and he said one particular street especially reminded him of his hometown. Maybe that's my next walking video! 😀 Boston is known as one of the most walkable cities in the USA, and with the subway system, you can get from one part of the city to another so easily. I think you're right about the skaters on the Boston Common skating rink - they are rather good. I think we excel at skating here because we have two things Spain doesn't have - lots of skating rinks, and lots of really cold weather.😀 But trust me, you don't want the cold weather.❄ It's interesting that you don't find the city hall building too ugly, but that's the thing with art and architecture, it's somewhat subjective. Or as we might say, 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. I think I agree that if the building was in a different location and not around old, historic buildings, it would have had a better reputation. That area was originally called Scollay Square, but in the early 1960's it was totally demolished (over 1000 buildings) and redeveloped as Government Center. Not everyone loved the result.😆 I know you're taking a little break before your next video, but I'll keep an eye out for it. Take care.
We Travel to Cape Cod In Summer 2004 We were Staying at The Hampton Inn In For Three Nights I Was Camping With My Cousins And Swimmed At the Beach.
That was a Quincy Milton canton ride not Boston
True, but the channel is Boston Walk and Drive, so I used to just label the videos as either one or the other. There are plenty of Drive videos in the city proper.
Thanks for the vid. I'll be in Boston on Monday! Can't wait!!
Have a great time in the city! 🌲
