The motor-shield can handle two motors. You might use two motors at the back in parallel if the shield can handle the current, but I think this is not what you mean. In my code the steering is done with a servo on the front wheels. My code is not explicitly written (yet) to control four-wheel driven vehicles (with e.g. mecanum wheels). This has perhaps even more similarities with my two-wheel Buggy-code?
