    Yes, I have drunk genuine Tennessee Whiskey. It is, indeed, smooth. Love this song from VoicePlay, I hope you continue your VP & Geoff discoveries. I enjoyed your discussion about how well beat boxing blends with a cappella voices. Please do more!

    You can't really go wrong with Voiceplay, they've covered such a wide variety of songs and genres. Since you asked for suggestions during the premiere:
    "Nothing Else Matters" - Geoff's arrangement of the unforgettable Metallica song lets everyone shine and has an amazing surprise for the finale. Emotional and powerful.
    "Valhalla Calling" - The vikings are coming and you are NOT prepared. One of Layne's best arrangements, this one has everything from Geoffquakes the likes of which you haven't heard before, to Eli's god-like rock tenor, Cesar being FIERCE, and some things I won't spoil. Also, everyone looks super-badass!
    "Party Of Your Lifetime" - Their newest release and an absolute banger if you've got a soft spot for 90's boyband vibes with a twist. People are sleeping on that one IMO.
    They've also done impressive Disney covers that show off their theatrical side and background: "Hellfire" is Geoff donning the mantle of a Villain so dark and disturbing it took a long time to make him do it, but he SLAYS. "Be Prepared" is a wonderful mix of menace and shenanigans.
    And last but not least, there are a number of super-creative medleys (Moana medley, Little Mermaid, Billie Eilish/Panic/Queen in 3/4/5 minutes) that are jaw-droppingly good.

    Names, from left to right. 🙂
    Eli (rhymes with "jelly") Jacobson, very versatile voice and Asgard's Rock God (when you'll watch "Valhalla Calling" you'll understand 😅), usually does the lights and a few arrangements (but heck, they're GOOD!);
    J None, very versatile baritone, left the group in 2021 or 22 as he was recruited by the Navy to sing with them (he sings BASS there 😁), still very active in the group and will be their guest singer every time it's possible, when on leave;
    Geoff Castellucci, bass (duh), another of the founding members, arranges about half of their songs;
    Earl Jenkins Jr, laser voiced tenor, one of the founding members of the group if I remember correctly, left the group a few years ago for undisclosed personal reasons, some say related to a health scare he got during a tour ("Queen in 5 minutes" seems to be inspired by that episode, but I don't trust my memory anymore 😅);
    Layne Stein, beatboxer and baritone, another founding member of the group. He does the OTHER half of the arrangements, and a whole lot of shenanigans, and is also known as the Lord of Carrots (it's a long story 😅).
    Currently the group "replaced" J None with Cesar de la Rosa, baritenor, whose voice could melt a heart of stone but that is very versatile as well. He brought sass and coffee, and it's another long story 🙂.
    So they're still short one member, but they're using the difficulty, and they cast a 5th singer to fill the gap, among a number of good friends who happen to have exceptional voices. 🙂
    See you next time!

    This is an older one and you will find that there are lineup changes in their newer video. A good one to do next is their new Christmas release that dropped the same day as Geoff’s. ‘Zat u Santa Claus?’ J. None (who you saw as the second singer here and who has since left to sing with the Navy) is back as the featured guest singer in that one.

    If you're having a cold, very hot and strong tea with a very large dash of Jack Daniels Honey is a good substitute for a rum toddy.

    Yes, I've drank Jack Daniels. It was my go-to when I was younger and in a bar with the guys. There's nothing smooth about it though, Quit getting sick George, it's bad for your health. Merry Christmas again and Happy New Year again., everyone.

    VP does a very wide genre range and have a huge body of work! There are songs where everyone gets a turn to sing - depends on the song and the arrangement! Geoff and Layne (beatboxer) generally do the bulk of the arrangements, but Eli (bald tenor) has also done a few. The last two years have been even more prolific for VP - as others have said their rock covers and gaming songs are insane and if you want to see some great beatboxing... and VP at their best... try one of those! Acapella groups do occasionally - but more as a feature rather than an accompaniment.
    Hoping you would do more Voiceplay - they do not do sub-par, so choose what you like.
    PS: Eli (Short for Eliezer - so Eli (like Jelly)) use to sing in rock bands... and he does voice acting too - all of them have insane ranges...
    PS2: If you do another VP I will definitely subscribe 😉 (

    Thanks for another VoicePlay reaction. This is an older one and their line-up has changed since. (Earl left in 2020 and J. None joined the Navy in 2021. J. still comes back frequently as a featured guest with VoicePlay when on military leave.) Eli (short for Eliezer, so rhymes with "jelly") is the one with glasses. J. is beside Eli. Will be here for all VoicePlay or Geoff solo reactions.

    Layne is the beat boxer; you're in for a treat if you get into VP. Earl is no longer with VP; the tenor with glasses is Eli, pronounced as rhyming with jelly. Hope you are feeling better. Thanks for the video.

    I’ve drank a bottle or fifty of Jack Daniels.😂 I quit drinking 38 years ago, but I enjoyed my beer and whisky, mostly Bushmills Irish Whisky, but sure had my share, and apparently yours, of JD, (from Tennessee.) Nice review George. I figured you would enjoy it.

      Hey Brad, 38 years sober is no joke, still sounds like you had plenty of memorable moments, or perhaps not so easy to remember moments haha. This is one of the few country songs that I really enjoy.

      @ I remember some, but I was having regular blackouts by the end. For days at a time. It’s why I checked myself into rehab and detox, or I would have never made it to 35. I don’t regret those days, I had my share of fun, and I have nothing against anyone else drinking, but I couldn’t set limits so the limit had to be zero.
