Rahi ji is the real folk singer. Love the way he describes pahadi songs' sub classifications. Had deep knowledge of various indigenous instruments also. No wonder, why he had been associated with Aakash-vani platform for a long time. Huge respect for his contributions. Would try to collect his songs' collections someday for sure. Thanks for uploading this rare interview.
This is pity that we the new generation was not aware of such a great person ...And specifically his vision about uttrakhandi lok geet and lok kala..We know bollywood we know hollywood bur not our neighborhood...It is an enlightened interview ...
Though Rahi ji is not more but his songs will remain always in lips and mouths of Uttrakhand.

Iam astonished the more I know and under stand the talents and depth of Chandra singh rahi ji, by far no one comes even far distant close to this great artist. When he was with us not many realised this , now we r left only with legacy of his treasured works.The most unfortunate part is to realise that the volume of knowledge and work that rahi ji accumulated in devoting 60 years In his life time doesn't seem to have some artist to take it up. The only hope is to look for someone from his family to protect this authentic folk art fully knowing that it may bear no monetary gains . If there was shaheed Bhaghat singh who have life for freedom of our country in the same spirit and with all devotion Chandra singh rahi ji sacrificed his life to protect Garhwali folk music .

With all that we all uttrakhndies still don't understood the difference between a folk artist and artist. Lok kalakaar or kalakaar ka fark hame aaj bhi Pata nahi chal paya Hai.
