    We own in Vistana and also Diamond Resorts. The Marriott/Vistana merger is so much better than the Hilton/Diamond merger. With Marriott, we are provided more travel options using the new Abound program. At Hilton, they are requiring massive amounts of money if we would like access to Hilton resorts. We were quoted from $30,000 to $104,000 additional purchase just to get access to Hilton properties at 6 months out. (we were quoted two different options) There are many Diamond owners walking away from Hilton.

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  Год назад +3

      Yeah, HGV and Marriott certainly did take different paths with regard to their acquisitions. Marriott took much longer to implement their final product, but in the end I think it is much better and more owner friendly. Thanks for watching!

    Mystic Dunes was nice! We were just there and heard the presentation on this during our stay. It’s being renovated, but they’re getting there. The updated rooms/buildings are a big upgrade from their older models that are still being worked on, and the putt putt golf, and golf course are getting updates too.

    HGVC Owner through Elara, purchase resale. I would never pay anything near $7,000 for HVC Max ownership.
    1. The resorts seem to be below the standard of most HGVCs and I'm not interested in spending a week at any of those...even if it were free. I have too little time, and too many places that I'm interested in going to waste time at places that are below the HGVC standard.
    2. HGVC (formerly Embarc Whistler) is interesting to me - but I wouldn't pay for the benefit of being able to book there, so I hope it's rolled into the inventory that we can book as "normal" (non-HVC Max) owners, but it's it's not, it's no big loss. It's only one location. (I'd just by a resale unit there if I really liked it)
    3. HGVC is at risk of making their program too complex and eroding the value of ownership if they make it too complex. Most owners will not learn the intricacies of ownership and may become frustrated. I've seen this happen with other companies. They should try to keep it simple and enhance/add to the ownership value of their brand (including owners who already own it). If they were to do that, they'd earn loyalty among current owners and attract new buyers...but if they make it too much of a headache to book, too complex, etc.. they'll lose owners in the long run. Hopefully, they take the "long view" and try to maximize value for owners over short-term gains. (The HVC Max program makes me doubtful that this will occur though)

    Hilton brought Bluegreen out now there is talk about the only way we can access the Hilton properties is by joining hgv max. If that is the case, that equals more money to become a member of hgv max.

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  6 дней назад

      If you are a Bluegreen owner, it is quite likely that the only way to access HGVC or HVC resorts will be to make a purchase to join HGV Max. This is how it worked when they created Max. In order to book between systems you need to be in Max and in order to be in Max you need to make a retail purchase directly from Hilton Grand Vacations.
      That said, you can easily, and cheaply get into HGVC properties by purchasing a resale HGVC deed. That will give you 9 month booking rights into HGVC properties and will cost you far less money.

    I decided to stick with my Hilton limited resort selection and when I want to go to something new then I'll just use the money I saved by not upgrading my package and go to those resorts on my own. Hilton Honors will pick up the slack from HGV.

    Thanks for the update. I have a question. I am a Diamond Platinum owner, in the Hawaii collection. I made a new points purchase earlier this year and I am eligible to join HGVMax but I cannot get straight answers from HGV about booking windows for the new HGVMax club. I currently have a booking window of 13 months for my home collection. I understand HGV Max offers a 6-month booking window. My question is: If I opt into HGVMax, do I lose my 13-month booking window at my home resort???

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching. Nothing with your home ownership changes. So if you opt in to HGV Max, you will still have your regular booking windows when using your DRI ownership. The only thing that changes is you would have the additional option to book HGV Max inventory at six months along with the Club Fee and an additional benefits that come with Max.

    • @DestinationTimeshare

      Both are great resorts, so it is hard to pick between the two. Grande Vista has more of a "resort feel" to it with multiple food & beverage outlets. • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  Год назад +1

      This would be something included with RCI membership. These are RCI deposits that are still available 45 days from checkin and can be booked for something like $399 for 7 nights. I have looked at these and they will most often be in locations with lots of supply and low demand. Think Orlando and northern locations in the late fall and early spring, perhaps even winter in Wisconsin. They can be a great deal if you can use them, but they aren't a reason to buy. Best of all, you can even access them if you buy resale HGVC. Resale is always the best option IMO. Buy for a fraction of what they are charging you. You just don't get HGV Max, but that is overrated IMO. Thanks for watching!

      I haven't heard of it, but did check out their website. Or at least what they had for a website. These are what are traditional vacation clubs. You buy in and you get access to supposed discounts on travel. THese usually are not worth the money spent. Often discounted access is to excess inventory offered by RCI. Other discounts for things like airfare, hotels or car rentals isn't any better than you can do on your own by shopping travel online.

      I know there can be some impact to Elite ownerships when you opt in to Max. I think it has something to do with guest certificates or some other benefit limit. I was offered Max for $16,000, and then $25,000. Since I got my timeshare for $100 + closing fees, I'll pass. After 3 stays at Diamond properties, I find them inferior and inconsistent. I can always stay at one with Hilton Honors if need be.

Of course I bought resale so won't have this offered for me unless I buy retail which ain't gonna happen. Yeah there are a few Diamonds in the Diamond collection but it's easy to just rent them if I really want to go there. Lots of fanfare for nothing if you ask me. All this rebranding and no new building. Pretty soon it's going to be just a handful of big name developers owning everything. Just reshuffling the deck chairs on the titanic is what it looks like to me. They are killing the industry with the next generation.
