The 2021 Audi RS 7 is a Total Posh Performance Experience | MotorWeek Road Test

- Audi has a way of being a little stingy with their RS high performance models from Audi Sport, even more so here in the states; offering only certain models for limited amounts of time. This RS 7 5-door coupe for instance, hasn’t been available to us since 2018; but it’s back! And bringing with it a whole new level of Audi performance.

I just realized that John is 77 years old. Looks good for his age!
Sounds just like he did 40 years ago..The man ages slower than the rest of us lol
That’s because it’s a clone😳, John died 5 years ago me and my company couldn’t let this mana legacy end……..he will look exactly like this for the next 70+ years! 🤯👈🏽
I am pretty sure he's only 73
3.3 seconds 0-60 on winter tires? Jesus thats insanely fast
A more realistic test, 5-60, is 4.2 seconds
Yes, you will be up grandmas ass in her 2018 Corolla LE in no time in this car.
Yawn. Tesla smokes it.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 How about 0-190mph?
@@bigmacdaddy1234 Give the RS7 APR stage 1 and it will do 0-60 in the mid 2s, 1/4 in low 10s, and top out over 200 mph. The Tesla Plaid is great for making a few 1/4 mile passes then getting a recharge. The Audi is a beast that will run 100% until the tank is full.
Those wheels are cool! Audi is always on the front end of new design.
This car looks🔥🔥🔥
When was this recorded? 3.3 sec in winter tires is pretty impressive for a sedan.
John's voice instantly takes me back to my youth. Lusting over those cars I could never afford at the time.
John Davis is the man... I've enjoyed his work for years.
Boy, I feel this guy makes this car seem so early 90s! I love it!! 🇨🇦
???
@@metaljew4456 just the way he talks
Well done fellas.
Nearly 600 horses. My God I remember when 400 was considered a lot. Those RS7s are good looking rides for sure. Get them before Audi goes all electric in 2033.
There’s no way Audi is going all electric in 2033
@@jrb2135 still 12 years away, taking bets now.
@@joeyzasa7383 my fault thought u said by 2023. 2023 would’ve been way too early to switch to all electric IMO. If this world still exists by 2033 they will most likely be all electric by then, Audi has always been very futuristic and ahead of the game.
wow, just drove across the US in a awd 270hp car, this would be a miles killer across the US =)
the video looks like the rs7 was edited into a 80s tv show
SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!
Great looking car!!!
4800Lbs??? She’s a big girl! But she quick…
Why would you rate this car with winter tires?
Audi provides the car. They just drive it.
You know you are going to test it make sure it has summer tires. Inexcusable.
A total beast of a car with the power and claws to match.
Not according to the test results. Subpar acceleration and braking, based on this video.
@@MattNis1 ...on winter tires
@@rmknicks exactly. What are they trying to say by testing this on winter tires? Most people hear the poor numbers and don’t realize that winter tires affect anything.
@Kinky Streets LOL 😆 well I never said I would buy it. I prefer a Lexus myself.
Amazing 😍
Beauty lid Ben!!!!
Not so long ago 3800lb cars were considered outrageous, pricey thing, right up against a Model S I'm sure.
What a beautiful machine !
I want one so bad lol 😆
Nice I want it
Who wouldnt
Those rip-off artists over at MB would charge another 30-50k for such a vehicle. Well done Audi.
John's legendary pipes sound a bit flat. He must be protected at all costs.
He can be proud of where he is at after all these years. We’re lucky to get this content. Thanks Motorweek!
If you watch Motorweek, it’s seems every car in the US is 40K-200K. They don’t do cheap car reviews.
We test every new car in the US market, regardless of price, and have been following the same formula for 40 years. Less expensive vehicles usually aren't updated as often which is why it seems like we must never test them but we certainly do.
They test every Subaru under $40K. I don't keep track of other brands but I'm guessing the same is true...
Cars are getting more and more expensive. 40K is a mid level car these days.
The average automotive car purchase is around ~$36,000 [dollars]. So many actually cheap cars aren’t that cheap anymore (the Mitsubishi Mirage being an exception) because everyone wants more tech and bigger cars (like crossovers).
Don’t blame MotorWeek, blame the people buying these bloated expensive crossovers that they don’t need.
I need yall to save John's voice so it can be used forever. Thanks
Over 40 years of shows , they have enough of him speaking to continue to be the voice of Motorweek FOREVER.
That car looks good n the s5
Gorgeous beast of a car
the next rs3 will be the one, split rear
This is a nice car love it
This will smoke a hellcat...
I just saw your Honda Odyssey road test.
Odyssey weight 4398lbs, 60-0 braking 112ft.
Audi RS7 Sportback weight 4938lbs, 60-0 braking 111ft.
What's wrong with this picture
Nothing. The Audi has performance brakes, the Honda doesn’t.
@@Mac10Daddy you have no problem paying $115,000 minimum for a car that weighs 12% MORE than a $33,000 minivan? And can't accelerate or brake worth a damn? Its weight is ruining its performance
What picture? That's the problem!🎤
@@MartinGalway accelerate worth a damn? Lol, it did 60 in 3.3 seconds with winter tires on. Those also make a difference in braking. Ceramic brakes take a second to warm up also. I’m guessing they weren’t at their optimal performance. And yes, I have no problem paying $115,000 for a car that destroys a minivan. Your comparing apples to oranges and not factoring in any variables.
It looks nice but Audis are too expensive to fix.
Why is it faster than a hellcat
It puts that power down better than a hellcat....it helps that its also a quatro and its about as heavy as a hellcat...
Everything's faster than a Hellcat (and a Demon)
May be faster off the line than a hellcat due to the all wheel drive, but not nearly as much fun.
At a car meet burnout/show the Audi would not even be noticed, the hell cat would be the ring leader .
@@MrGreenelight It’s true hah. I make fun of the Hellcat and Demon a bit, but also respect and admire just how batshit crazy both are. Both great/cool cars for different reasons.
Unlike the E63 and M5, this looks like a $120k vehicle, when you add the 22" wheels
If you want all the performance, and impress everyone style, a one-car army, this is your ride.
0:25 I'm sorry, did he mean to say 5 door?..
Amazing car, but plagued by a weird throttle tip in/turbo lag that really screws daily driving. This will greatly benefit a TCU tune.
Not feeling the styling.
Look familiar? Same guy designed the current gen Honda Accord.
That is one sharp LOOKING car, I am sure all that money it still has its Audi engine issues.
Do you own any Audi model? I own an 03 A4, and a 17 A4, and both run amazing with 0 engine issues. Fact is they are extremely reliable brand of car, but you have to keep up with the maintenance with the brand. They ain’t no little boring but bullet proof motor Corolla.
I have a 2015 S3 and its been bullet proof.
@@rmknicks I hear ya buddy, seems so many bash the brand but never owned one. Goes to show a few bad owners who don’t properly maintain the cars, can ruin a brand name for the masses. Oh well, more for you and i to get our hands on. Lol
I own a 08 TT cabrio and not one issue. Always serviced on schedule. Just keep them maintained and they are indeed reliable.
@@arthormosley3863 That is great I hope it keeps up well they are great driving cars, how many miles do you have on your car?
Freaking beast.
What a gorgeous car!👌🥰👉❤
4800 pounds wtf, it would be ripping off a 10 sec quarter if it weighted less
Not necessarily, extra weight is what keeps this particular car glued to the ground just like the 3900 pound Nissan GTR.
@@ash27slick74 still too heavy, the GTR is 900 pounds less. I had a S6 with the same engine, had RS7 turbos in it, tuned, but the S6 weights 4400 pounds which I thought was heavy AF too.
@@dudndadn12212 Hey, I completely agree with you that both of those cars are too heavy. It's just the way the manufacturers are required to build them due to the large amount of mandatory safety oriented technology. I actually have a 2016 Nissan 370Z that I absolutely love to drive. My car only has a few simple bolt ons as far as modifications. It's fairly light, tossable, and a good all-around car. I'm looking forward to the all-new Nissan 400zx coming out in a few months. I actually work for Nissan and really wanted to get "Godzilla" but the GT-R has gotten way out of my price range. Good day.....
@@ash27slick74 Mild hybrid adds weight.
@@ash27slick74 That 370z is a fun car to drive, its very underrated if you ask me. The nizmo edition is really fun, but the price truly kills the z compared to the competition.
Scotty. Endless money pit as they age.
Buy the warranty
That’s why I hate my life and will drive a 20 year old Toyota till I die. Never to enjoy any fun to save a few worthless dollars lol
because Scotty Kilmer only cares about reliability and doesn’t apreciate performance, luxury and tech.
Lease
I thought it was a Hyundai.
Winter tires in summer. Ok...
This was filmed in winter.
@@Motorweek Looks like summer to me ☺️❄️
summer for sure
Oh Goodie!....another $130,000 car with a backseat no one can get into!
I rode in the back at an Audi test event two weeks ago... I’m 6ft tall. Cars are ridiculously expensive now tho, on that point I can agree
The back seat is huge in that car. What are you talking about?
❤
Europeans are getting lazy. This would be awesome with a manual gear box.
A manual would be totally inappropriate for this type of car
So is 500 horses but it has it. Purists understand driving. They know the feeling of totally controling every aspect of machine they're behind the wheel of. Even Cadillac has a manual in their new 600 pluse horse powered V. If you're scared say you are and stick to Hyundai and Kia.
Save me your purist waffle. It's an big luxury FWD based Audi, what could a manual possibly add to the driving experience aside from annoying you everyday? If you're a purist you'd have another car.
@@wasdwasdwwasd wait hold on did you say FWD based? Quattro is RWD biased
It has AWD which means All Wheel Drive. That's why it has the Quattero badge on it! Please stick to the side streets.
This car is banging sexy hot!!!!
Who is that bald dude in a suit? Dayum, motorweek is getting old. I still prefer our 3200$ 2001 A8L over any new car. Outdated luxury is much cheaper.
The driver was too slow for this car his steering inputs were lethargic he could’ve gone faster through the cones another case of the car being in another class compared to the driver
The performance numbers on winter tires are astounding. Can't wait to see a follow-up test on proper summer tires. That said, I just find the exterior and interior design for an RS model bland. It needs proper aggression. Something buyers of an RS model will no doubt prefer. Please Audi, consider this for future RS models.
Imagine the performance with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, summer rubber.
So much body roll and surprisingly lackluster braking
Styling looks boring now. Jellybean. Not a VW fan.
A SS car. Super Sedan
@@fxkraft1037 Lol. This guy hahaha, you get what I mean don't you? Schutzstaffel, part of the greatest army in the history of warfare, bar non, used to ride on PanzerKamfwagen tiger, and those did not have an equal.
Sorry, this is NOT a big car!
It’s all fun and games till u hit that 3 year mark, then it’s just a money pit. Better lease, don’t buy.
Ya lol basically drive it on the weekends to keep the miles low
I have a 2015 S3 and it's had no problems
Am I the only one who likes McLaren more that Lamborghini?
McLarens are one of the most unreliable supercars in the world and they depreciate like there's no tomorrow.
Yeah but all super cars are
Both are better than Ferrari
@@kristians2704 Nope. Most Lamborghinis are glorified Audis.

I think the new benchmark for four door performance sedans is now the Tesla Model S Plaid. I think I’d pay a little more for the Tesla compared to the RS7.
Say Tesla your are dead
That Plaid is pretty badass. But not everyone wants electric.
It's simple Tesla is not a brand but cult of a non tax paying rich brat . People will buy electric vehicles but not tesla
Ugly front end.

I'd lease one....but never buy one. The maintenance will kill you financially. Not that someone buying a $130K car would care I suppose....but the hassle would certainly bother them.
