Please, does anybody know, what's the main difference between: "Renaissance" and "Ganassi" recorders design? I suppose that both those types are cylindrical "wide" bore (while the most common "Baroque" has tapered bore), but I did not hear about any difference between "Renaissance" / "Ganassi" (/ "Kynseker") yet. Thanks a lot.
+Jan Trhlík For us players, the major difference is in fingering. My Renaissance must be played by "baroque fingering", but of course there is "Renaissance fingering". Ganassi's fingering is different, and it has different cross-fingering. This of course implies some structural differences. But I am not an expert.
Could you clarify what fingering differences there are? Or is the entire system different? I was never aware that Ganassi's fingering system differed from the standard "Baroque" (or maybe the "German") fingering.
@@AndromedaCripps You can find the fingering chart for Ganassi recorder on the following web page: blockfloetengriffe.de/de/index.php The different fingering apply ownly to some notes e.g f, fis,ges . According to the chart the fingering is very similar to a Baroque recorder. But I am also not an expert and I have never played a Ganassi recorder since they are quite expencive.
+Jack Hammer The title of the tune is, in English, something like "when Daphne was a beautiful maiden", and the original title in Dutch is mentioned below the video.
Most commonly just called "Daphne", here are the lyrics: When Daphne from fair Phoebus did fly, The West wind most sweetly did blow in her face. Her silken scarf scarce sheltered her eyes. The god cried, O pity! and held her in chase. Stay, nymph, stay, nymph, cried Apollo, Tarry, and turn thee, sweet nymph, stay, Lion or tiger, doth thee follow Turn thy fair eyes and look this way. O turn, O pretty sweet And let our red lips meet: Pity, O Daphne, pity, pity, Pity, O Daphne, pity me.
I really like your performance on this youtube channel. However, you may wish to change the recording device or your after sound processing / mixing routine. The sound quality is rather odd to me - it seems that every note is overblown.
+Ivan Fong Thanks for you advice. I've been using "GarageBand" but I know it's far from satisfactory. However, since my music is evolving, maybe I should consider a new, alternative software for recording.
What beautiful sounds!!!!! Van Eyck, Daphne 😊 Renaissance and Ganassi have the best sounds (in my humble opinion).
I choose the Renaissance. I find the tone subtle but strong in the low as well as in the high notes
Thank you for a wonderful demonstration
Suzuki Ganassi (soprano) recorder is a newest item of my instruments. It looks fine, but I have to tame it!
soshichi uchii hello, where can I buy Suzuki Ganassi model? I could not find it in Google, and what is its fingering, please.

Thanks for posting.
Thank you!
Where do German and modern pitch fall in comparison?
The performances are all in modern pitch. The comparison of baroque pitch and modern pitch is shown in another video.

Pino Lini Thanks for the help!
