Corey, thank you so much for sharing the story of how your career has developed. I find people's stories very interesting. I’m so glad your life's path has led you to the world of quilting. I’m sure you know, just by reading people’s video comments, how anxiously we all await your next fabric collection, your quilt designs, your QAL's, and your Saturday videos. Thank you for being the creative person we all love.

I hope all the trees survive and your daughter is able to show her future children those beautiful trees some day. Thank you for sharing your story. I completely understand the feelings of being a new mommy and staying home. It was scary but, the thought of leaving my daughter with anyone else was terrifying. It was the best decision I ever made! We were blessed that I could stay home with both of our children and I wouldn’t change a thing. I am not creative by nature so I truly appreciate your talents. I can follow a pattern or copy something I see in a store but, I do not have an original thought in my head! And drawing…let’s just say my brothers laughed at my stick figures! I hope you truly appreciate your God given talents, I know we all do! Keep doing what you love and I pray it keeps bringing you joy❤

Yikes! I can’t imagine having to turn a quilt top around in 24-48 hours. That’s insane. I really enjoyed your story. So inspirational. Tell your daughter that if she can grow her trees 🌲 in containers until they are mature enough to survive outside, she may be able to donate them to the city for planting in parks. Keep us posted on yeh trees journey.

That's exactly what it is--dueling emotions! I remember when I was in high school, my English teacher said as you get older you'll realize that emotions are twofold. You'll never have just one emotion...it will be bittersweet or tears of happiness mixed with tears of sadness etc. That stuck with me and I find it to be so true.

As a side note if you get a chance you should watch Fat Quarter Shop’s livestream yesterday with quilt designer Heather Briggs of My Sew Quilty Life. Thank you for the positive words to the viewers (me) about becoming, working to the best of our ability. Surprisingly to me, even as a "Senior citizen", I'm still becoming me. Wow! Your daughter could make a beautiful Bonsai Forest with some of the trees-either in a large shallow pot and/or in your yard. She can Google Bonsai forest images for some fabulous examples. Either way, she should carefully separate them now, or their roots will interlock and the trees won’t likely survive separation later.
    Thank you, and stay well!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful sharing. I would love to hear more about how you structure you days around sewing. Tips on fitting more time into your life.... Another thought I had was, I bet you have a wealth of advice that would work for the rest of us when we want to get a project done quickly, such as for a gift-----because you need to turn around your quilts very quickly when you get your original pieces of fabric. And now that you mentioned you used to have to put a quilt top together in under 48 hours, more often 24, you much have organization tips, and focus tips, and other useful ideas that would be useful to us.
You seem to be a very organized person, so, would love to hear more about that too...I need clear counters to start a project, or to do some mending.
Thank you again. Love this idea.

It was a lot of fun to share!
I've never really thought about it, how I get things done quickly, but one tip would be to do things in batches as much as possible. I start with getting all of the cutting out of the way (make sure to label things so you don't have to spend time hunting for certain pieces), and then I will chain piece everything I can within the pattern (even if that means skipping around a bit). Once I can't chain piece anything more, I'll move to the iron and press everything. Then, it's back to as much chain piecing as I can. And then onto more pressing. Two other things, I don't typically starch so that saves prep time nor do I typically pin (both of those things save time but only if you don't have to unpick).

Enjoyed hearing about your journey into designing and learning about your background. Thank goodness everyone does something different- it would be boring if everyone designed the same path!
My only complaint about this video (as I am sewing) is it was too short!!!
Maybe the 20 spruce trees in the mug will be an inspiration?!!😙🤣

I absolutely love hearing about your journey and fabric design. What I love is taking fabrics and patterns and mixing them up to make my own. So I think fabric patterns or perhaps sewing for a designer is where I would love to do. I work full time and sew just as much now that I am an empty nester. ❤

Thank you Corey! I have always wanted to do fabric design. I never felt like I could because I didn't have that background and I did not know where to start. I have so many pattern ideas in my head. I am a "senior citizen" I am too old to do it now. but not too old to sew!! I sure enjoy sewing with your fabric. I still have several of your fat quarter bundles in my stash. I hope that your journey will help someone follow their dream.
p,s, keep us updated on the spruce tree story!. You should get her to take a picture by the tree every year and watch them both grow.

That little spruce story makes me smile every time I think about it. Our next step is to repot each little seedling into it's own pot so they can keep growing. They have a ways to go before they are ready to be planted outside. =)

I absolutely adore the new collection with the sheep. Just precious. You don’t stay in one genre but stay fresh with new releases. Great imagination and designing. My fabric store sold out almost immediately so loads have the same opinion. Just keep it going. I love it ❤

Thank you Corey! You make me believe that I can too design fabric! Maybe soooner rather than later!! Prairie was one of the very first fabrics I bought when I started quilting!! I sure wish I had bought more... they are some of my most treasured scraps. ❤ I never bought enough for a quilt so I've made bags and such. Windflower was another favorite, but I gave that quilt away! I now make sure I buy enough when your lines come out! 😅

I'm in a little bit of a different one right now as my girls are transitioning to young adults and heading off (almost 19 and nearing 16). Things are certainly going to look different once they are no longer at home!
