- After more than 15 years of service, SWISS says goodbye to an icon of the sky, the Avro RJ100, also known as Jumbolino.
In its place, the world’s most modern short-and medium haul aircraft, the Bombardier C Series, will operate to SWISS destinations throughout Europe.

I swear, this is the best airline ad ever, it tells a genuinely good story, waves a fond goodbye to one of the sweetest aircraft, and it also promotes the airline as well.

SWISS is that one airline that never dissapoints. Even now I still remember the RJ100 and I truly miss it! Even though planespotting at London City is never the same without the Swiss Jumbolino, I'm always happy to see the A220 operating on a daily basis! Thank you SWISS.

Well, to prove a point, all of the Swiss RJs got snapped up within 72 hrs of going up for lease.
That should tell you something.
Many of them have gone to Canada the US and Australia for fire tankers due to the high wing and powerful engine. Because of this, 1 engine can be dedicated for powering the electric water pump when giving into a lake, with the other three lifting into the air.
She will fly for many years yet.

This is now my favorite commercial. There are only a handful of airline commercials with sentient/living aircraft. And it's also a cute one.
However, I do have concern on what would happen if they accidentally 'talked' with people on board.

The Avro is a cool plane. A high-winged, 4 engine, almost 737-sized thing. A really spectacular appearance. 4 engines for short haul!
@@Flying_GC who cares about official ranks. What he means is out of the 64 flight he's probably never had a bad one, either with the airline or on AVRO. I would rather go on an averagely brilliant airline, that is consistent and trustworthy, then go on an airline that has slightly higher rankings but is occasionally hit snd miss.
Swiss, were known for their punctuality, the fact that they almost never went tech, have really decent pilots, and onboard service that was with a smile and generous. Even on their very short regional hops, you got free breakfast and coffee refills, you can't say that about many regional hoppers.

@@marcosgiorgios7913look in the description, it says in the avros place is the bombardier c-series. Airbus cockpits are blue tint, and the cockpit windows are a bit different.

@@dodecahedron1 it will be very expensive, and what will someone do to an avro rj100. Perhaps make it a private plane, or if its me, i will turn it into a flying home. No kitchen though(anything hot can explode on a plane filled with fuel) will have onboard wifi, can have home-comfy sofas with seatbelts, some beds, have a tv room with a medium tv strapped to a table strapped to the plane, and my personal bathroom and snack closet
I once flew in one of your Avros from Nuremberg to Zurich. I found it to be an awesome airplane, its acceleration and climbing capabilities impressed me. Farewell Avro!
