She has an absolutely magnificent voice. She is actually able to voice her voice just like one would voice a musical chord. What I mean by this is that she adds in both flat and sharp 9ths, 11th and flat 13th into the harmonic pattern that resonates out of her vocal apparatus. She is one of the rare voices that has this type of unique acoustic ability. Her voice is like that of a jazz musician magnificently articulating a Melody with heavenly Harmony and countermeasure that lifts it to the highest heavens.
Mrs. Lucas/Tad. This would make a really fun (more mature than That Girl) 1960s type tv show where she has ESP and they're married and living in New York with Tad (Jack Nicholson next door?) Love you. Don xoxo
I always thought they should have had Frank Sinatra play the male lead , since he was supposed to be older anyway and Frank could sing and act and them two together would have been great
@@chrisn7259 Hi Chris. 😊 Regarding "Up The Sandbox" specifically, you are spot on. Her performance was understated, and displayed a range that was, unfortunately, never tapped into. Besides that, she is radiant in what is her most natural physical appearance in a movie. I love "Up The Sandbox". Unfortunately, I think you and I are the only people that saw it.
@@BrettTwinSavage I saw it and watched it many times on a vhs copy. I have it on dvd now and watch it at least once a year along with all her other movies.
@@justmeiniowa Though I was just a "wee lad", an older brother took us to see it when it was first released! Can you imagine seeing it in a packed theater full of people who'd never seen it? People were out of control laughing. This was before the days of the cinema megaplexes and a theater would be playing one movie and commit to it...I recall this particular theater was all done up in red plaid.
In his memoir "On the Street Where I Live," he says this about him and Rex Harrison, both of whom had multiple divorces (and therefore multiple alimonies): "Between Rex and me, we supported more women than Playtex."
So Daisy Gamble is Tadrina/Me mushed together like Calvin Coolidge because I'm more Female and Dr. Chabot is Me(Personal Guy)/You Tigger mushed together. Love you. Just have to point out that on the roof top when she refuses to be his patient any longer HE INSULTS THE HECK OUT OF HER AND HER LIFE, then after he fails to hypnotize her as he’s leaving he later tortures her by singing day & night to come back AND finally she caves and comes back mad and hurt because “ you can’t want me I have no character and I’m not the woman you really want”……… AND THEN HE TELLS HER HOW SPECIAL SHE IS RIGHT NOW IN THIS LIFE…………..ummmm…….. what? You insulted her before making her feel bad then you build her up when she’s feeling like a loser…… doctor,,,, you are sick. Lol
That’s rather funny as Yves Montand had a decades-long career as a hugely popular singer of hit songs in France and around the world. He was picked out by Edith Piaf in the early 1940s and regularly appeared with her and sang with her. He was a singer long before he started acting in movies.
2038! Barbra Streisand is still alive and in rude health, if she passed tomorrow and was instantly reincarnated she’d be only 14 in 2038 and too young to be Yves Montand’s wife or lover. Still, she did say Virginia.
My favorite scene from any movie, ever. I saw it 50 years ago and it still haunts me.
Agreed!

Fascinating and beautifully expressed.
...and she does all that unconsciously! So she's unconsciously competent! ❤
That voice. God given without a doubt.
Amen 😁
DNA given.
I can never get enough of this film!! C’est Magnifique!!
Me too, I can watch this over and over and .....😂😂🎉🎉🎉❤
As always, Barbra we brilliant in this movie!
Yes Tad, will you stop bothering me?! Love you. Don xoxo
I love that movie
When she stops and realizes….Virginia!… a remarkable moment….chills
What a brilliant comedienne.
What a professional. "Did you learn that from me?" is pronounced in Brooklyn-ese sounds EXACTLY like cockney English. They're indistinguishable.
Stunning Barbra ❤
2038 in 1960 seemed like an impossible number. Now it seems around the corner.
1970.
Only 14 more years to go. 2024 to 2038
@@MisterMan7516 thanks, what would we do without you?
Such a smooth voice, both Yves and Barbra
How about her voice man! No one comes close to hers.
The greatest
She is such a good actress.
She was so beautiful here...
...Fantástico 🎶Barbra 💖
She is magic
So this is filmed during the time we were starting to assess the danger and reaction of countries like France, Switzerland, etc.? Love, Don xoxo
You’ve never insulted someone you love? Pretty amazing.

The biggest mistake made on this film was not to include background music…..the silence makes this movie seem more like a play.
Her voice is literally thrilling, it sends shivers through me.
Ms. Streisand. I love you! (Don) Is this outfit part of my "Barbie Doll History Outfits Must be decent by 1930s standards?! Love you) Don xoxo

♥️♥️♥️👏👏👏
He was so wrong for this. She was amazing.
Maravillosa pelicula me gusto mucho .sera verdad que tengamos varias vidas ?
La vida es sólo una. Disfrútala a tope para que no te arepientas.
Only one life, at a time. Body dies, personalty persists...soul is eternal 🩷
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Whenever I see Barbra in other movies I always see her as Fanny Brice
In this film I agree with you--in certain scenes--but have you ever seen Nuts or Up the Sandbox for instance? There is no trace of Fanny.

I am a follower of Alan Jay Lerner. I read everything I can get my hands on about him. HE believed in reincarnation...

It was a different time. It didn’t feel like that in the 1960s.
I still think this is my favorite $ixties Streisand musicals along with Funny Girl and Hello Dolly.....and Yentl...,😂❤❤❤❤
2038!,, only 14 years left to the time period!!!!!
how did he get the part? He literally can't sing.

@@tommoncrieff1154 yeah in 2024 "Laura" would have to be born by now.....Daisy would've died in her 60s. ,😞
She socks
Hated her costumes in this movie.
Cecil Beaton and Arnold Scaasi were two of the greatest designers of their time.
