      Josh, I have travelled to some of the places you have (though I either took a helicopter or a 4WD) and you have captured every bit of the beauty and scale of the environment, as well as the kind and humble nature of the Nepali people. Like you, I love Nepal and I will keep going back. Unlike you, I am unfit and I'd never survive one day of what you achieved. Thank you for bringing this to us - and I shared some lumps in my throat and tears forming when you became awestruck by the majesty of a Himalayan sunrise. So happy that you achieved your dream and cannot wait to see what comes next. This series deserves to be on BBC - it's quality stuff!

    Yes! "Love Letters to Nepal". Josh, I really have no words to express how touched I am by this. Just like we can't see you crying behind the sunglasses, likewise you can't see me crying through this whole video. I used to dream of doing what you did, but now I think maybe next lifetime if our beautiful planet has not been destroyed.
    Still, I am so grateful for the experiences I have had myself. I am a Canadian woman in my 70's. I've done some travelling, met Tibetans, taught English to Buddhist monks, learned to fly, and even jumped out of a perfectly good airplane (with a parachute, of course). I've thought about the Camino de Santiago as well. Do you think it's something you might do someday? We are all so blessed to live in this amazing world. I pray that we will figure out a way to stop destroying the beauty that surrounds us. Thank you so much for these videos. I'm looking forward to more amazing greatness from you:)

      What a beautiful comment - thank you 🙏 "I pray that we will figure out a way to stop destroying the beauty that surrounds us" - I couldn't agree more with this. A key theme with this film that I wanted to weave throughout was the benefits of being out in mother nature...we have to protect her at all costs and look after the planet we've been gifted. So I hope that when people watch this they feel like maybe they'd like to go and hike too, because when you're out there you for a connection with the natural world and that's really when you start to care and feel responsibility for it.
      Thanks so much for taking the time to watch each episode and I'm humbled that it moved you like that. It sounds like you've lived a wonderful life and isn't that the beauty of it? That we're all different, on our own journeys and paths - unique! And at the same time, all connected :) good on you.
      Regarding future adventures, there's a long list! And Camino de Santiago certainly sits there...I'd love to. I'm not sure what's next, but I'll keep chipping away at these adventures as long as I'm privileged and lucky enough to have the body and resources to do so

    I’ve been coming to Nepal every year since I was 57 I’m now coming up to 63 ….ive done all the main treks but my favourite is Manaslu . This year I’m going to do Nar Phu over the Kang La maybe adding the Thorang La at the end let’s see. One thing is that you can do these treks at any age as long as you are decently fit. Often is oldies seem to cope better with the altitude than some of you young ones ..slow and steady is the key. No trek ever goes to plan it always takes longer or less depending on how you feel , the snow etc. Nepal though has the best people in the world …I feel at home and safe as soon as I land. Great videos but don’t ever think you are too old

    • @JoshEdwardsFilms
      @JoshEdwardsFilms  2 месяца назад +1

      You know, it's funny you say that because I witnessed and heard that being said several times - the older folk fair better because slow and steady really is the way to do it! I learned the hard way and a year later when I went back I faired so much better with the altitude. Because I took the time to sleep and stay at places for more than one night, gave my body the chance to adapt. It was a much better experience.
      I'm really glad it's something you can keep on chipping away at well into your 60s...this country is a place that I could go back to 100 times. Heard fantastic things about Manaslu so that's high on the list. Thanks for taking the time and sharing your insight! Good on your for keeping mobile and trekking every year

    • @dutezore
      @dutezore 2 месяца назад +1

      Exactly right …whatever you plan for be flexible always have extra days in your schedule…and be prepared to change your plan . Last year I went with some friends and they struggled with altitude trying to climb Gokyo Ri and the Renjo La and we had to just go back the way we came up. They were very downhearted and I really had to work hard to explain that it’s matters not at all . The high passes and peaks will always be there and we had a great time anyway. Nepal is the most beautiful place on earth and like you said every morning you wake up in the Himalayas is a gift. As I’m retired now I can spend 2 months in Nepal every year and every day I spend there is to treasure. Looking forward to future videos.

    I know how you feel at the moment. I went to Nepal back in 1987, 22 years old. Last October I went for the 9th time. Nepal and trekking in the Himalayas gets under your skin, and believe me: there is no cure. I'm still dreaming about EBC next year, as a 60 year old.
    Nice to know: the first 5.000m pass is the hardest. It's like in the future your body recognize the problem and acclimatization is easier.
    Good luck on your next trip and keep filming!

      Haha there is no cure...I can believe that. I'm planning a return in 2025! There's so much there. And yes it's true - I actually returned in 2023 to finish the film and do some interviews etc. That second time when in headed over the pass it was amazing - my body felt great! Just finished watching all the episodes of “Notes from Nepal”. I have watched so many such videos where foreigners make a film/video of their journey in Nepal but this one has been my best till date. Everything in the series was beautifully filmed. Being a Nepali, I can say it was very authentic and portrayed Nepal in its true form. Every thing looked soo amazing, soo perfect.
    Though I was born and raised in the city area of Kathmandu, since I was a little girl, it has always been my dream to explore Nepal, going for trekkings and doing lots and lots of adventures things. The beauty of Nepal(mother nature) has always fascinated me and it has always made me fall in love with mother nature( आमा नेपाल) and after watching your videos you’ve made me realised even more that truly how beautiful and blessed this country is and made me fall in love with Nepal even more. I sobbed as the video ended. I've been away from home for two years now. As an avid trekker in Nepal, I've missed the mountains every single day. Josh - this extraordinary series on Nepal is absolutely mind blowing! So beautifully produced and filmed. I've literally got tears streaming down my face writing/watching this as it takes me back to when I did the Annapurna Circuit in 2001. Nepal is the most incredible country and one that holds a very special place in my heart. Huge congratulations to you both for doing this incredible challenge and for documenting your journey and observations so authentically. You are an inspiration to us all and ultimately this reminds us all of what it is to be human. As with most things in life, it's not about the end goal but more about the journey we experience along the way. Namaste!

      @JoshEdwardsFilms  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey Matthew - thanks for such a lovely, kind hearted comment. Really appreciate that 😁🙏 you picked up on the themes I was thinking about while editing the series - it's about the journey along the way, and ultimately just trying to share a real, human story. In this day and age with all the AI and brainless "content" that gets spewed out online 24/7, I feel it's really important that we still aim to try and tell great stories and share important messages that speak to the human experience and keep us grounded with the natural world.
      Thanks for taking the time to watch, and congrats on doing the circuit back in 2001. I would've loved to see it back then!

      @@JoshEdwardsFilms Hey Josh - huge congratulations again on creating this incredible series on Nepal. You should be so proud of what you've filmed and produced and I know the series will be an enormous inspiration to people around the world - now and into the future. Like you say, the bizarre world we live in today is dominated by technology, social media and materialism and I can't help but feel that this has enabled people to loose touch with their own core values and authenticity. Mother nature and the great outdoors can do so much to help heal and restore a sense of inner calm, tranquility, balance and sense of happiness and I can honestly say that your video series has captured the essence if this so beautifully. Huge congratulations again and I wish you every success with this video series and any other content you may create going into the future.

      @@matthewduncan6298 yes amen to that man - we need to remember how important being in touch with nature is. It's integral to who we are as humans! Thanks for messing up my day, Josh. I had it all planned out, and then I got a notification that the final episode had dropped. The dog walk will have to wait 😂😂. Once again, massive massive kudos on a truly exceptional vlog (is that what you youngsters call it 😂). My wife started watching it last night, and has already forwarded to two of her yoga friends who are talking about the circuit. This will seal the deal for them. You sure got a lot of snow on the pass - we got a lot in Oct 22, but when I crossed in January 89 it was completely dry. I am really going to miss watching this - so you better get to the Three Passes sometime soon. By far the best Himalayan trekking videos I have ever watched (and I’ve watched a lot) ……. I hardly comment on any videos, but had to for this one. In the world of superficial acting in vlogging this series is an example real emotions connect with people. Fantastic series.
    Having completed AC in 2019, through your vlogs i could explain my father the journey and he totally enjoyed it. Great stuff! Wish you well!

      Ah thank you so much for this - that means a lot to hear. As someone who enjoys watching RUclips myself, I am really sick of titles and superficial vlogs just to please the algorithm and try gain more attention. That's why I wanted this series to be "real and raw" - just to tell a human story :) so thank you! Appreciate you taking the time to watch, and it's really nice to hear how you could show your dad and give him an idea of what you experienced out there 🙏 that makes me happy

      Haha that's really high praise, thank you! Quentin Tarantino is one of my favourite directors - I take a lot of inspiration from his films. Thanks for taking the time to watch this one 🙏

      When you put your soul into something, it shows. Like good food, good movie/documentaries made with love touches souls in a different way, I dont know why but it does. Don't lose that mate. Btw, some of the soul music you used in the series, was it etta james/aretha franklin by any chance?

      @JoshEdwardsFilms  2 месяца назад

      @@birajgauli I know exactly what you mean. It's hard to put into words. Obviously doing what I do I watch a load of films and TV shows that all feed into my own style and voice...you can just tell or "feel" when something has that love. I think I'll be OK as long as I always remember that golden rule and stick to it!
      The music - that's "What a Difference a Day Makes" by Dinah Washington. I liked the lyrics considering how in a short 24hrs I was up...down, and then up again 😂

I spent my wknd watching the series and was so happy to see you make it thru the pass, and then to see all 3 of you run thru the water at the temple.
