Being overseas for two years, serving my country, having signed on, I have no regrets. Every time I listen to this song, I feel a roll of patriotism roll through me. No, I have not been conned to doing so, I just love Singapore that much.
Total Defence Day marks the anniversary of the beginning of 3 years and 8 months of Japanese occupation in Singapore during WWll. It reminds us of our vulnerability as a small nation and how the five aspects of military, civil, economic, social and psychological defence are essential for us to maintain our sovereignty. Remember that what you cannot defend, does not belong to you.
kit's singing of Home is the same as before.. amazing feat to bring together so many artistes, each bringing their own flavor to the simple and familiar tune.. Home is close to hearts of SIngaporean :)
Whenever im feeling low I look around me and I know.. Theres a place that would stay within me wherever i may choose to go... I will always recall the city know every street and shore. Sail down the river taht brings us life winding through my Singapore.. This is home truly where I know I must be... Where my dreams wait for me where the river always flows.. This is home surely. As my senses tell me, this is where i wont be alone... For this is where I know its home...
No matter how they sound, it isnt about how 'nice' it sounds but the meaning behind it. I dont care how many people say Singapore's songs suck, no matter how much they supposedly suck or how 'old' they are I love them. These songs werent written as pop songs they, were written to simply to convey the spirit of our lion city. This version was written for our Total Defence Day.
Totally love this song much... there`s always our love convey to our lovely Singapore.. no matter how they critisize or spread rumours bout singapore we are forever one of de citizen who r goin 2 be forever strong no matter faces wad condition... ♥ u, Singapore.
Note that it is Chen Wei Lian that is singing "As My senses tell me" Tells us we must think about what we have and make good use of them , not what we lack.
BEST song ever! The first time I ever heard Stephanie Sun sang it at the NDP,I teared big time. This round, again,I tear... THIS IS HOME TRULY! Onward Singapore!
Whenever I hear this song, it stirs me emotionally. It reminds me of my family, especially my grandpa that left me. This is really a song for Singapore.
to people who thinks that it is not our home anymore, use this song to remind yourself. Home is what you makes it to be, it will not be a home for you if you don't want it to be.
Love to see Tanya chua n taufik here! :) Great song, abit of a pity tt so many singers are involved that some dint get their indiv airtime.. Tt said, I really hope the local singers do more collabs like this!

C'mon... okay, maybe too much rap for some people's taste, but can't we all just enjoy the awesome coming together of Singapore's vocal and musical talents each with their skillful and unique musical style, singing one of the best National Day songs? I mean, thats what its all about isn't it? How cool would it be, if every year, local artiste would take time out and write our national Day songs together?
@angelinaperry how you know theres auto tuning? FYI she very talented and won various award in the music industry, stop passing judgement to get a lot of thumb ups.
Was that jeremy monteiro at the start of the video?! Pretty cool how they featured so many great local musicians. Not sure about the rapping element, but tmost respect for the legendary sheikh haikel though!
@nnaaeee Well, I'm not sure about bangalas, but PRCs are supposed to be in Singapore to help Singapore to work and such! I'm sure Singaporeans need PRCs, whom many may eventually be a citizen of Singapore! As a loyal citizen, I am sure you should respect the fact that Singapore needs more people... too... :)
"Home" has got to be the best National Day song in history... Not to say that there aren't any decent songs after it, the quality of the songs are simply deteriorating...
@soj0urn yeah agreed! and there's so many more mando pop singaporean singers that they missed out.... like huang jinglun, derrick hoh, dreamz fm (who didnt managed to make it big but nevertheless had awesome voices!) etc etc.

"Home" has got to be the best National Day song in history... Not to say that there aren't any decent songs after it, the quality of the songs are simply deteriorating...
25 are jealous that Singapore is not their home.
Lol, this reminds me of the Haiti video. Did they do this because of the Flood in Orchard Road? Cause that reminds me of home! HAHA!
@soj0urn yeah agreed! and there's so many more mando pop singaporean singers that they missed out.... like huang jinglun, derrick hoh, dreamz fm (who didnt managed to make it big but nevertheless had awesome voices!) etc etc.
