I'm Russian and this show is so special to me, even on my darkest days I could watch it and it gave me the feeling of safety and that everything bad will be in the past one day. I can't even imagine how nostalgic this show must be for those who lived in New York in 90s!

First he got 2 & 5 which is 5×5 Then 4 & 9 which is 7x7 (full cup) Then 3 & 6 which is 6x6 (D cup) D cup is unbeatable because its the only case where card mod card returns 0 (6 mod 3 = 0) And letters suck in this game, because you can't combine cards to get 16(4x4) or lower, or 81 (9x9). Plus if no game is made, numbers win over letters. Reason for which Ross beats joey later 🤔
Only after a few years after finishing Friends, I realized one day suddenly that this game had nothing to do with cups. Chandler grabs some cups to place next to them before the start of the game, as if they were going to be used. But they never are :D
I hated Ross in this episode. He knew Joey was broke and Chandler even told him that the game was made up. Ross had a permanent job. He should have understood man.

Second, it's incredibly frustrating to watch the scene especially when you were rooting for Chandler to succeed in giving Joey money only to witness Joey flashing it in the drain hole and waving goodbye to it. Third, it's incredibly unthoughtful of writers to actually put it there cause of how invested in the show audience is and regret beats fun.
