Oh man I cannot even begin to state how excited I am for the finale. Your reactions are always so great and I just know you'll love the ending of this arc. It's so extremely satisfying
Obviously don't know your exact circumstances and trials you have been going through but wish you all the luck in navigating through it all. Generally speaking I think you have a good head on your shoulders and see things broadly and objectively enough that you will get to where you want to be despite any trials and obstacles that stand in your way. Also know that your uploads and commentary bring myself and others great joy, while also providing something beyond "content to consume". Keep pushing, one foot in front of another, even when you don't know what your destination is.

This episode made lief one of my favorite characters. The theme of the true warrior seems to be more about the courage needed to live honestly in a harsh world. Thor's could have risen to a high position but he chose his wife. Lief could have abandoned his search for Thorfin but he won't because he wants to honor his dead friend. And then there Thorfin who's clearly lying to himself because he doesn't want to face his own guilt over getting his father killed.
Uh oh here we go...

This is something pretty much every reacter seems to get wrong: attacking Wales wasn't part of some plot against Askeladd, the king didn't know the two were connected until Floki noticed Askeladd's expression.

Askeladd was actually taken by a real surprise and that’s not often that happens.
Man, you should react to Monster, its one of the best animes i have seen ever, a lot of time it puts you on a very tough spots and has some amazing characters and one of the best antagonists i have seen ever. You would love it.

Fun fact, the scene with Lief and Thorfinn in jail is anime original. This and a few other scenes were added with the blessing of the original author, and supposedly there are more on the way in the next season as well. While many anime fans would call this "filler" in a traditional sense I honestly love the small touches that they add. If they can keep up the quality like this I'll be glad to welcome more supplementary content that extends how long I can live in this story.

There's an old idea in Western history that I think really sums up what the symbol of Vinland, and its variants like Avalon, is really about.
History reads from East to West, within the East you will find the past, and where you are, you will find the present, and then logically, the future is to be found far into the West.
Initially, the civilizational tradition of the West came to light in modern day Iraq, among the Sumerians, eventually the centre of the western tradition is to be found in Greece, especially in the city of Athens, (a move westward) This was to be supplanted by Rome, further to the West. After the fall of Rome civilisation moved back to the east for a while, to Constantinople, but soon enough cities like Vienna, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Madrid, Lisbon became challengers, and soon enough the heart of western civilisation found its way to London, whence it eventually (in the 20th century) leaped across the Atlantic to rest in places like New York and Washington DC.
To the East, the past, and to the West the future. You cannot sail to Vinland by heading West on a map, no, if Vinland will ever exist, it will do so because the people here and now, build it so that it may come into being in the West (read: future). Canute captured that idea, but I am not convinced that he really knows how to chart a course into the West/future that takes him to paradise.

They probably value Ragnarr greatly being on Canute's side because he probably had a lot of powerful political connections considering he had such a high status in the royal court, I mean he literally raised Canute after all. Thorkell likely lacks a lot of those connections but he makes up for it in his skill as a warrior and commander as well as in the legend his name has built up, people are terrified of just hearing Thorkell's name let alone having to go against him in a potential war of succession.
