24/ 08/2016 Hi John, I have also just collected my first 2 swarms in
Albany Western Australia. I am new but found this method fast safe and
as I also have 40 swarm traps out fast is good. I take the hive body out
compleate with 10 frames in and place it as close to the swarm as I
can, then spray the swarm with sugar water. Then with my hands pick up
as many Bees as possible and place them on the top bars. After they
settle I replace the lid, brush any remaining bees to the ground and as
in your great video they march in. I then close the entrance take them
home place them where I want and have a beer. Works for me, good luck
Jonathan.
The reason why you shock them off the branch is to disrupt their defensive communication, and in the few moments you've got, they will run towards the infra red signal created by the largest mass, ideally at the entrance of the hive. I'd normally reduce the entrance down to a smaller hole perhaps about 10mm x 80mm. You can often hurry them up into the box, by tickling them with a green twig. Just brush the ones at the back, to hurry them up, and brush the ones on the entrance to get them to go in instead of clustering. Not a good time to use a lot of smoke, since they are not sitting on honey, and will only become alarmed.
lol this guys so chill "just hit tha beez, hit em haaard".
Very nice swarm. Great job. I love catching swarms in the spring. It's one of my favorite things to do.
Nice catch and thanks for shooting a video of it. I'm a new keeper and expect that sometime soon, my friends and neighbors will call with news of a swarm to catch and this looks like the best way to catch them. Question: When you brought the nuc box back to your bee yard, you popped the entrance screen off right away, but isn't there a worry of those bees robbing your other hives and other hives robbing your feeder on the nuc box?
I have same question as Tommy Bizzell. What is it about the nuc that the bees want to just march on in and make it their new home?
Did you use lemongrass oil in the nuc or bait it in any way, or do they just see the opening and say hey, there's home?
Did you smoke the bees before knocking them from their swarm spot onto the sheet?
Bottle what is inside their I want to know
1:40 is that the queen at the bottom left corner?
Thank you, now I can make a bee grenade
How did you get a swarm? Is the portable hive box empty on the inside or does it have frames in it? Your videos are really informative.
curious about your formula of "food" i have been speaking to keepers more and more about what they are feeding their bees. been trying to find out more about hive collapse and i am astonished to hear how many keepers feed bees HFCS (high fructose corn syrup - which is all GMO and contains glyphosphates as well as other chemicals highly harmful to bees).
thanks
hypnotherapycw use sugar water four cups of sugar to four cups of water
What if there inside the lining if my sofa chair
What is in the bee feeder jars? A pollen mixture or just water? Could you tell me the recipe please?

John, I am also a Master Beekeeper in NC. I don't remember seeing your name on the list. When did you get your Master certification.
Why are some of the bees from the other colony going inside the white hive
beautiful job
the website won't come up
I was looking up basketball drills....how tf did i get to this...
what is drawing them into the empty box?? Where is the queen at this time?
natserog apparently it's due to the fact that they move towards dark objects in this situation. That is the reason for the white blanket. You can also see some of the moving towards the dark wood at the edges. This technique does not work at night or without the blanket
Did anyone notice he is missing a little of his left pointer finger
thanks John!
Thanks for education and sher idea sukses for
