- I'll show you how to successfully catch a swarm because if you keep healthy bees, they will swarm. Bees swarm when one half of the colony leaves with the queen to start a new home. The bees left behind will raise a new queen. Hi, I'm certified master beekeeper David Burns from Long Lane Honey Bee Farms. I came home just in time to see my bees swarming I tried to drop them in a box I shook the branch they drop into the box and then I dropped the box. It's amazing how fast a swam can disappear. I wish I had watch this first
I am a new bee keeper. Learning the ropes and hopefully better prepared or comfortable with this thought it would be more difficult. Just worried of picking up the queen and getting over not wearing gloves.
I am a new beekeeper. I caught a swarm just like you did a few days ago. The bees swarm was on a brush and I drop them into a beehive box. I was not able to find the queen but all the bees eventually went into the box. I put on the top covers and blocked the entrance. I then move the beehive box to another location. The next day, I open the entrance. The bees just come streaming out and fly around a little bit and form another swarm on another tree too high for me to reach. In another 30 minutes, they are gone. Three days later, I caught another swarm. I did essentially the same thing and the next day they are all gone. What did I do wrong? All the youtube videos I watched on catch swarmed bee did not have my issues! Thanks.
I was unsuccessful at coaxing a swarm into an old hive I found in the barn. Three days later they were all dead 😢Did they starve or did the queen die and there was no leadership?
Just caught one .
Nice, it is a blast isn't it.
I hive a swarm in a trap shud I change the queen and dump the rest in the hive
Unless you live in Africanized land why not keep the queen.
